This is a vegetarian cookbook, that replaces your pan/oven with an air fryer. There were at least a couple of instances where I thought - 'but a pan would be so much simpler', but to each their own.

The recipes are simple, diverse and easy to follow.. As long as you have the right kind of fryer, which unfortunately I do not.

Each one is accompanied by a long blurb about the dish, sometimes historical sometimes personal, quite often taking up more room than the recipe itself. I thought it was a bit much and unnecessary.

I'd much rather the blurb be shortened and have that space for visuals. Photos photos photos. They don't have to be full size, anything will suffice. There were a couple of dishes that piqued my interest because I didn't know what they were, but alas, no photo to show me.

Amid the plethora of air-fryer cookbooks this one definitely has some unique recipes for a variety of palates. However, I was a bit disappointed in the title. Plant-powered? Nope. The first two recipes include eggs, milk, and butter. The tag line does include the word vegetarian, but also plant-based. Plant-based is often paired with vegan, which would mean ZERO animal products. This is a vegetarian cookbook...definitely not a plant-based or plant-forward cookbook. Very misleading.

It's important to note that this is not a vegan cookbook, despite the words "plant powered" in the title, so don't expect a plant-based cookbook. It's a vegetarian cookbook and a pretty nice one if you just want vegetarian air fryer recipes with frequent use of ingredients like eggs and cheese.

There is no nutritional information provided, which is a major detraction for me in a cookbook. Many people need to know the fiber, protein, fat, sugar, calorie and/or carbohydrate content of recipes and there's no excuse for a major publishing house not to give that information. Since my husband and I are closely monitoring some of these macros right now for health reasons, it's not a book that can be useful for me.

There are a lot of international dishes and a nice variety of unique recipes. Photos are provided for about 1/2 to 1/3 of the recipes. There's a pretty heavy use of eggs, dairy and gluten, so it's not the best suited for those with dietary allergies. Vegetarians eager to find some novel air fryer recipes will probably really enjoy it.

I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.

This cookbook is well organized, and I appreciate there are photographs with about half the recipes. Unfortunately I hoped that with "plant powered" in the title there would be more vegan recipes, but most of the recipes contain eggs or dairy. There are some different recipes than what you get in many other air fryer cookbooks, so that's a plus.
