This was a good attempt but unfortunately did not translate well for me in terms of learning more about the professional difficulties and solutions that were faced and experienced by women at that time. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the arc.

Thank you to the publisher for letting me read this in advance. The book sounded incredibly interesting, but unfortunately, it just wasn’t for me. I would have enjoyed the book so much more if the author had focused on her professional accomplishments and less on being a mommy. It was frustrating to read between the lines about all the opportunities she had but gave up because she kept having children.

Fascinating memoir form one of the most influential people in publishing. Judy Piatkus is the name behind so many formative books from my youth. From Flowers in the Attic to Colour Me Beautiful, from Jon Kabat-Zin to Nora Roberts. Ahead of Her Time is a thought-provoking insight into the brains (and heart) behind so many favourite books. Even today, the Piatkus imprint publishes so many much-loved authors - from Sally Thorne to Christina Lauren. Judy Piatkus is an inspiration to entrepreneurs everywhere. Highly recommended.
