4 stars!

This was an amazing enemies to lovers closed door romance with a workplace setting.

Henley and Graeme are up for the same promotion for Digital Marketing Director at their cruise company and as a way to discover who the best person for the job is, their boss sends them on a cruise to the Galapagos Islands with the view that they write a proposal for the promotion. When Henley and Graeme finally meet on the cruise, sparks begins of fly...

This was so so entertaining and so fast paced and so lovely that I have nothing more to do than to recommend it to everyone.

Graeme is an absolutely incredible character and Henley is so strong and driven. This is definitely a great romance to read if you're a lover of the genre and even if you are looking to get into it!

Ever since Graeme Crawford (Cracker) Collins stole Henley’s idea at work she has disliked him. Both working for Seaquest, a cruise company in the marketing department, they find themselves pitted against each other for a promotion. Graeme works remotely so he and Henley have never met until they are both sent on a cruise to the Galápagos Islands. Tasked with finding new way to promote the cruise they end up spending more and more time together sharing the beauty of the islands. Soon they are getting on great with an attraction between them obvious but, how log can it last when they are both vying for the converted position at work.

I just loved this book! It featured so many things that I like to see in books and that I would put on my top tropes list. Let’s begin with what initially drew me to this book, the setting and that the characters spend the vast majority of the book on a cruise ship. I love books about travel and simple eat up contemporaries that heavily feature travel. That paired with fact it was set on a cruise ship, I just knew I had to read it and would love it. I don’t know why I have come to enjoy book set on cruise ships so much but in the last year I have come to adore them. This book featured a cruise around the Galápagos Islands, which I didn’t really know much about prior to reading this. However, as I often find with travel stories I was left feeling desperate to research more about the islands and in particular the wildlife found on them. This book was jam packed with luscious descriptions of the landscape, the sights and animals our characters seeing. We got to go along for the ride as we watched Henley and Graeme experience these amazing sights. I just love following characters who are loving and appreciating the setting and we get to live vicariously through them. We saw the characters hiking, snorkelling, meeting giant tortoise and baby seals. I just wanted to jump into the book and see the places for myself.

There are two main strands to this story, Henley’s journey with herself and he journey with Graeme, all against a stunning backdrop. I must admit I was a little miffed at the start because I assumed there would be a romance between Henley and Graeme. However, Henley paints such an awful picture of him at the start I couldn’t see how they would become romantically involved. I was firmly on team Henley in thinking if Graeme took credit for her work then he couldn’t be a very nice guy. We soon learn though, all may not have been how it seemed. In fact within the first few pages of meeting Graeme I loved him. He was cheeky, challenged Henley but in a friendly sort of way. The more we saw him, the more I liked him, he came across as such a warm, compassionate guy. He really made no bones about developing feelings for Henley. I think he’s the sort of character that comes the end of the year I will look back and remember him because he was so lovely. Watching them spend time enjoying the islands whist they got to know and fell for each other was a total joy to watch.

Henley also goes on a real journey in herself too. We meet her at the start as a career minded, women who feels she constantly has to prove herself in a world of men. Shes a workaholic and because of this her personal life has suffered. During a conversation Graeme asked Henley why she wants the promotion they are competing for and you can tell how passionate Graeme is about his job. Whereas Henley’s reasons are much more pragmatic. I felt this gave such a great insight to her as a character and her mind set at the start of the book. By the end of the book we see a rather different Henley and I loved her development. She was still determined and career driven but she had discovered the importance of Graeme in her life, rediscovered a relationship with her sister Walsh who accompanies her on the cruise and she had learnt the value of friends. We get the pleasure of seeing all the step along the Way that change Henley’s path and it was great to watch. By the end not only had she balanced her life, she’s found a passion and had taken down the bad guys.

Something I didn’t expect from this story was the underline messages it carried. A big part of Henley’s transformation focused on her discovering the wildlife that inhabits the Galápagos Islands. It’s this that leads to a big idea for her and ultimately drives the end of the story. It really championed conservation work on the islands and just served to show people what they have to offer. It felt very current and relevant with a message about protecting nature, our planet and appreciating wildlife without it seeming like it was trying to teach us something. The was an unexpected but rather beautiful part of the story.

I just adored this book and ultimately finished it feeling so happy. I adored the setting and the underline messages that came from it. I loved Henley’s changing relationship with her sister and friends. The romance with Graeme was top notch in its enemies to friends to lovers dynastic. It was just perfect and a book I could see myself re-reading at the some point, probably when I am on holiday.

A fun and flirty read that captured what it means to be a woman striving for career success, the precious balance of work and leisure, and the importance of wildlife conservation for the future of our planet.

Going into this, I was expecting a typical holiday romance between enemies-to-lovers co-workers... I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and dimension Hockman brings to this book! I loved the elements of humour throughout, as it helped balance the overworked, career-driven Henley (though her motivation and effort to achieve her goals makes her the kind of woman you feel proud for and want to cheer on!). The treatment from her boss made me want to throw my phone at the wall in anger and frustration, though it is unfortunately an all-too common workplace feature where women are overshadowed and ignored. Thankfully, Hockman turns this on a positive note, highlighting the cooperation and determination of strong, intelligent women.

The mystery and intrigue behind Graeme's history drew me in; I grew to want the best for him as his character developed and we gained more insight into his past and were able to understand how that was reflected in his personality and relationships. I thought the romance storyline was very well written, not over-the-top or too much of the focus but rounded out the book nicely. It even had me on the edge of my seat as to who I wanted to secure the work promotion! I'm not sure it can be classed completely as an enemies-to-lovers, more a series of miscommunications and unfortunate encounters that built up over time, thus actually making the switch to romance less jarring and unrealistic.

I wasn't expecting such a prevalence of Henley and her sister Walsh's relationship, yet it provided another dimension for readers to connect with that I enjoyed. Despite being fun and flirty, set mostly on a holiday adventure cruise, Hockman effectively touched upon more serious topics such as grief, isolation, abuse and gaslighting. I felt they weren't written about in an overdramatic manner but perhaps more subtly in the sense of a reminder that everyone is struggling with something, and to reach out to your family and friends often!

Finally, the depth of immersive detail of both the islands' natural beauty and the need for wildlife conservation was a really big positive of this book for me! it made me feel equal parts desperate for a holiday (when can i book a flight to the Galapagos?!) and curious to learn more about the archipelago and its conservation efforts.

Overall, a great lockdown read to fuel that need for romance, travel and escapism!

I honestly think the marketing for this book is misleading. A second coming of The Hating Game this is not. I always take serious issue with this comparisons, because when you give people wrong expectations, it could easily ruin your reading experience, even if the book itself isn't that bad.
For me personally, there are two reasons why THG worked so well: 1) it made me laugh so much 2) there is no reference to any real world issue, so I could just leave the world behind and enjoy the ride.

While Shipped has its moments, it really can't compete with THG in humour department. The other issue is that unlike THG, Shipped is a very ambitious book. It tries to combine a real world issue with a cute and funny romance. The result is, well something.
By now I had my fair share of books that try to combine these two elements. This one isn't the best or the worst of them. It's... fine. The romantic aspect is fine. and the way real worlds issue is handled is also fine. I honestly can't find a better word for this. It's just find. It didn't blow me away. But it's not horrible either.

First let's talk about the romantic part. One of the things that I always expect from my romance is humour. While this book did make me laugh a few times, a lot of times I was just embarrassed for the characters. I think this is called cringe humour? I'm not sure tbh I just don't like this kind of humour that relies on embarrassing characters. There is also a plot line that I thought this was going to be turned to a love triangle with the MC's sister. That one got resolved, but before that it just made me really uncomfortable.

for most of the book I honestly was thinking toward 2 or 2.5 stars. But toward the end it became really better and the book focused on the real world issue ( workplace discrimination against women ) and I thought it did a good job of handling it. I actually would have preferred it if this book was a general fiction and entirely focused on that issue. If I want to be perfectly honest, I enjoyed MC's career success way more than the romance.
All things considered, I'm glad I gave it a chance. I would certainly love to see what this author writes next!

Shipped is one of the cutest novels I have ever read - I haven’t been reading as much romance novels as I used to, so I normally save the romance novels for when I think it’s going to be a really, really good one and let me tell you, Shipped fit the bill perfectly. One of my favourite Chick Lit tropes is enemies-to-lovers or, in Henley and Graeme’s case, one-sided enemies to lovers, since Graeme had no problem with Henley, Henley just assumed Graeme was an ass (and, to be fair, he did come across like that so…). It helped so much, actually, that while Henley and Graeme were both competing for the director’s position, it wasn’t an ‘alls fair in love and war’ type battle, they were both pretty respectful of each other once they actually realised they could actually be friends without it being world war III.

One of the biggest draws for me, was the fact that this novel is set mostly on a cruise ship sailing around the Galapagos islands. There used to be quite a few Chick Lit authors who set their novels abroad and in a different country with each novel, Belinda Jones is the one that springs to mind currently, but travel fiction seems to have died out, which is disappointing really as there’s nothing better about reading about sunny climes while in the bleak despair of Winter in the UK. I had heard of the Galapagos islands but couldn’t tell you where they were so it was really nice to have a novel set there and while I’m not sure if a cruise is for me (so many people, ALL THE TIME) Angie Hockman wrote it really well and I kind of wish Seaquest Adventures was an actual cruise company.

The characters are the best part of this novel, I feel like I’ve said that already about the destination (so sunny!) but the characters truly were amazing. I loved Henley’s go-getter attitude and while she was presumptuous of Graeme at first, once they’d actually met each other on the cruise, it was clear to see the sparks beginning to fly. Walsh, Henley’s sister, was also fantastic, coming along to help Henley with her campaign for director after splitting up with her boyfriend. And then there’s Graeme, who seemed like an actual sweetheart and kind of made Henley look like a little bit of a bitch for being so mean about him/to him since it was hardly either of their faults they had to compete for the director’s position. I loved the banter that they had and the camaraderie and even the friendly competition trying to figure out the best presentation for their application for the digital director job.

Shipped was the most fantastic read, probably more of a by-the-beach read, but it did brighten up my Winter days, and I felt warm and cosy just reading it. This is Angie Hockman’s debut novel but she’s done an absolutely wonderful job, melding together a fantastic plot, wonderfully realistic characters and funny and warm writing. I’ll definitely be excitably checking Amazon on a daily basis to see if she has a new book up for pre-order and this is definitely one for me to get for my keepers shelf, because I can definitely see myself re-reading this novel every summer from now on.

Henley and Graeme both work for the same travel company, promoting cruises around the globe. They are competing for the same promotion, and to support them to understand the company better their boss sends them on the same cruise around the Galápagos Islands. Graeme is quite easy going, friendly and is always there to help. Henley is as equally friendly but is also very suspicious of Graeme and quite guarded not wanting to become distracted by her co-worker. Their relationship is certainly frosty at the start of the cruise but soon begins to thaw, before the chemistry between them really heats up.
I loved this book it’s so cute, when I began to read it I quickly figured out what might happen between Henley and Graeme but I didn’t see the other twist at the end. I really enjoyed it and by the end of the story I wanted to carry on reading. It was the perfect remedy to help me escape to warmer climates.

Ooh well you know I enjoy a good enemies to lovers romance and this one was just up my street.
Henley works in marketing and wants to progress in her job, the only problem is that there is someone else going for the promotion, someone who is male and who Henley doesn't like very much after he took credit for her work.
Fast forward to them both being on a cruise ship exploring Galapagos and the sparks start to fly.
The first half of this book I found a little slow going, but once they were on the boat I found myself really enjoying it, the book delves into sexism in the workplace and I thought this was a really interesting aspect. I loved the setting and I now want to visit too!
The book also touches on coercive control of a secondary character, only a minor part, but if this may affect you then just know it is there.
Also, if you are not a fan of steam in romance then this one is perfect for you.

I think this is my favourite book so far of the year. Loved it. The romance is cute, reminded me of The Unhoneymooners and The Hating Game, but the book didn’t feel like a rehash of these stories, it felt like it’s very own!
In particular, I found myself laughing out loud at the scene which involves the cabin and concealing some... things... in the bathroom.... if you know, you know! Give it a read, it’s so worth it. I’m so happy I picked it up.

A hate to love romance between two colleagues who are competing for the same promotion, who end up taking a cruise to the Galapágos to help create their proposal

Okay pals this was such a fun contemporary romance read! Truly, it was the perfect pick me up which gave me lots of fuzzy feels and was a lovely slice of sunshine in this less than bright time.

Graeme was a top tier love interest. Always up for some back and forth, a snarky comment here and there but more often than not super thoughtful and caring. He was always there to defend and support those around him, and though he is dealing with some past trauma he does try not to let that define him.

Without going into spoilers there’s a lovely scene where he helps Henley out in the sea and given that I share a fear with her I enjoyed seeing her being encouraged to try this new activity. Also, he is super good looking so win win?

I was definitely on team Graeme from the beginning. Not that I didn’t support Henley, she was a likeable character and definitely relatable, but at times I did feel a little exasperated with some of her decisions. I understood however that all of this tied into Henley’s personal journey so I could appreciate it. Though how could I not root for Graeme when you can see what a nice guy he is!

I enjoyed that Angie introduced added depth to this story, as our main character faces and tackles sexism in the workplace. As a young woman I have encountered and seen some similar situations and the secondhand anger was real! I also loved how Henley knew her worth and that she was bloody good at her job. Her ambition and the way she takes ownership as a woman in a male dominated industry was definitely inspiring.

The relationship between Henley and Graeme was so sweet and full of chemistry. Throughout the story their perception of one another shifts and changes as they get to know one another better. The banter between them was top notch and it made them feel so much more three dimensional.

While yes there is an element of hate to love in this book, it’s not necessarily enemies to lovers as I initially anticipated. Well, it almost is, but a lot of the ‘hate’ is one sided for the most part. I wouldn’t have turned my nose up at a little more hate or angst, but that’s a personal preference and indicative of some other enemies to lovers books I’ve read, but I think the relationship worked perfectly for these characters.

I loved the sexual tension between the pair, even when technically they weren’t on the same side. I particularly enjoyed how humour was woven into these moments too, like when Graeme catches Henley putting on a sort of show as she strips down to her bikini and he realises she’s caught him staring, so he walks into a bench. I could easily picture this and it made me chuckle.

There were lots of “almost” moments, even for just a kiss, and as the story progressed I was almost as frustrated as Henley and Graeme were. JUST KISS GODAMMIT. Also it’s worth noting that this isn’t really an explicit read. There is no on page sex and fade to black vibes.

There was a little bit of miscommunication in this book but I don’t necessarily always mind this, though what I did appreciate was that the main characters were quick to apologise for judging one another or the situation too quickly. They see and acknowledge their own flaws, especially if it may have hurt somebody else.

You can definitely expect a few laugh out loud moments too, a particular favourite being the whole lip syncing to ABBA moment. Trust me.

While this is definitely a romance, I liked that this was also a story about Henley and her self progression. I read a review that said the ending reminded them of 13 Going on 30 with a presentation she has to do and yes! That is such an accurate representation!

Henley had a great group of friends, who fully supported her and were always there to boost her up, including a queer couple expecting a baby. They even took Graeme under their wing too!

There was an element to this story that I can’t remember reading about in any other contemporary romance (off the top of my head anyway!) and that’s the focus on eco tourism. While it was a pretty integral theme to the book, I didn’t feel that it was too much or too preachy. In fact I found it interesting and definitely gave me some food for thought and inspired me to visit the Galápagos Islands one day.

The excursions and adventures the characters went on definitely gave me holiday envy. Now I’m even more desperate to escape to a sandy beach with crystal clear waters where I can just sit (under a large umbrella because I burn far too easily) and read for a week straight with a cocktail. Of course, only when it’s safe to do so. But for now, this was enough to tide me over as a lovely piece of escapism.

I absolutely raced through this book and I would definitely pick up future books by this author. A fun and flirty adult contemporary rom-com with added depth, sun, sea and sexual tension!

Thank you for checking out my review of Shipped by Angie Hockman, and huge thanks to the publisher for this advanced copy too.

I am absolutely obsessed with this book!! 'Shipped' had so many aspects of romance that I absolutely love; a hate to love romance, two of the softest main characters in the world, a romance you can't help but root for, amazing side characters and a friendship group that I loved so much.

'Shipped' follows Henley, who works in marketing for a cruise holiday company, and Graeme, who Henley hates after a misunderstanding when he first joined the company. Henley and Graeme are both up for the same promotion at work and have to go on a cruise holiday together to the Galápagos, in order to come up with new ideas for the company.

I loved Henley and Graeme so much and was rooting for them from their first encounter. They had so many adorable moments that made you fall more in love with their relationship. My favourite moment was definitely the 'Take A Chance On Me' lip-sync moment and now I am only ever going to associate that song with Henley and Graeme because it was just so adorable and the chemistry between them was insane.

I thought the romance was incredibly predictable but that did not hinder my enjoyment at all and I was still utterly obsessed with this book.

I also want to acknowledge how amazing all of the side characters were. Every character was so different and I loved them all (apart from James because he was simply an awful human being) but I especially loved Henley's friend group and her sister and how they were always there for her. I just wanted to be apart of their friend group so much.

'Shipped' was the most adorable, summery, hate to love romance that took place in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever read about in a book (the Galápagos) and I already can't wait to reread this book when I need to be reminded why I love the romance genre so much. I can't believe this is Angie Hockman's debut. I can't wait to be able to read more of Angie Hockman's books in the future as 'Shipped' was just absolute perfection.

This book was brilliant! I was hooked straight away and absolutely adored Henley as a character and I fell for Graeme pretty quickly too! I flew through this book and really struggled to put it down at times.

Reading about their travels through the Galapagos Islands was so inspiring and has made me add a visit there to my bucket list! Please keep reading through to the author's note to learn more about the Galapagos and the struggles they are facing. It is so clear that Angie was inspired by her travels and love for the Galapagos and that comes across so well in the book.

A great lockdown read! I can't wait to read more from this author in the future!

Shipped is an enjoyable read with some really funny moments and some make-you-stop-and-think moments too, dealing with some real and serious issues. I liked the way the story came together and the characters were all great. The romance between Henley and Graeme was sweet but the focus of the story is mostly on Henley, her relationships as a whole and her career. Graeme's got a strong backstory and as a lead he was a delight but I found that although he was the hero, he didn't get enough page time. There were also a couple of moments where the pace of the story slowed down a bit but it picks up significantly towards the end. The settings of the story were wonderful and you get a really good feel of the place.

This book is perfect for fans of The Hating Game, but far less problematic, and honestly laugh-out-loud funny at times.

Things I liked:
♥ This book discussed difficulties faced by career-focused women in male-dominated workplaces really well, and I loved seeing so many of the women band together to get things done.
♥ Graeme was a really refreshing love interest. He was just a decent guy, which absolutely is the bare minimum, but was unusual for these kinds of enemies/rivals to lovers romances. He had a really interesting backstory, and I enjoyed his character development a lot.
♥ I loved the experience of travelling through the Galapagos with our characters. I really felt like was there, because the author did such a wonderful job of setting the scene.

Things I disliked:
♡ I found myself a little frustrated at times with the idea that Henley had to change herself, her lifestyle, etc. to accommodate others. While I was glad she was more willing to fight for her workplace rights by the end, the way she came to shift her mindset felt like it was based on the expectations of those around her.
♡ Although Graeme and Henley had great chemistry, I was really left wanting more by the end of the book. I just don’t feel like we got enough of their romance, and the focus was more on Henley herself (which is totally fine, but not what’s expecting going into a contemporary romance!)
♡ Walsh felt like a bit of an unnecessary character to me. There was enough external conflict for Graeme and Henley without her creating it, and her relationship with Henley didn’t really intrigue me.

Overall thoughts:
I really enjoyed this read, but I think I’ve now learned that I don’t love rivals to lovers. This is the kind of book to pick up when you want to escape somewhere sunny, and I would absolutely recommend it.

Content Warnings:
Death, domestic abuse, sexism, animal death, drowning.

I don’t often get to finish books within 24 hours, but this book kept me wanting more and more until it was finished. I wasn’t too sure what to expect going in but what I did know was that this book involved travel and a hate to love romance. Sold!

I recently read another book by a different author about a small cruise in South America so I felt like I already had the interest in that book to make me enjoy this one even more. This time I already knew what a Zodiac was, even though thankfully the author actually explains what they are in this book! I felt like I was taken on my own little adventure to the Galápagos Islands.

This was a really cute book. I didn’t particularly love Henley at all times - she was a bit immature and quick to jump to all the wrong conclusions - but I still loved seeing her growth throughout the story.

Typically, this would be the book I would tend to gravitate towards in the late spring / early summer months, but I know I couldn’t leave it waiting too long. I wasn’t expecting to give a 5 star review, but it really deserves so much praise and hype.

Thank you NetGalley for the review arc.
When anyone tells me that a book is going to be an enemy to lovers trope I always jump on the train . There’s just something about it that makes my tummy flutter . I won’t say I expected anything reading this , but it just engulfed me later on while reading.
Henley Evans takes the lead story with her evergreen zeal to be promoted in her place of work .
She has competition anyways ; Graeme
He is a pain in the neck to her and she is at loggerheads with him even when he isn’t even present physically since he stays in another city . They are short listed to go for a trip to Galapagos, an island .
It’s a beautiful place with lovely scenery and you can travel there just by reading the book because the author is very precise with details about the place which I love so much.
If you’re a fan of Romcoms and love to travel and a big fan of scenery, then this book is for you.

This was a decent read for me. Everyone’s talking about how this is like the unhoneymooners and the hating game but since I have only read the unhoneymooners I couldn’t compare it to the hating game (unread but have it in my shelves). So, I guess the premise of the book is similar to the Unhoneymooners as both protagonists go out to explore and kinda don’t like each other. However, I absolutely enjoyed the Unhoneymooners but this one was just an okay for me. I wish there was more romantic stuffs going on as the book focuses more on Henley’s career and Graeme’s rivalry relating to work. I feel like the story kinda lacked depth here and there for instance there was this woman Sharon befriends in Galagapos but then she is never mentioned later in their whole cruise exploring days or later in the book so I thought that was weird. But any one who wants to read something cute and simple office romance, family drama, enemy turns lover, close friendship then this book is for you.

I absolutely adored this book and it was the perfect bit of escapism I needed to start the year off!

All of the characters were brilliant, not just the main ones of Henley and Graeme. I especially loved Nikolai too!

I think what I liked so much about this book is that, yes it’s a romance so you have that brilliant enemies to lovers trope, but you also have this wonderful adventure in the Galápagos Islands and a story about a strong female lead dominating her way in what can sometimes be a mans world.

The romantic parts weren’t overly cheesy and I also liked the fact that any “steamy” moments they had were not described in detail…I really don’t feel it’s necessary so this book was perfect for that.

As mentioned, whilst this is a romance, I feel it’s more centred around Henley and her promotion at work. The ending definitely gave me 13 Going on 30 vibes with the whole presentation!

Overall if you want a book that will take you on an adventure, fill your heart with love and have you cheering on the female lead then this is the book for you!

Shipped is perfect for lovers of The Unhoneymooners - this story filled my little wanderlusting heart so much!

This enemies to lovers romance is set against the backdrop of a cruise around the Galápagos Islands - a work trip, cruise, that is! Because, yes, Henley and Graeme are workplace enemies and, to top it off, they're now competing for the same promotion.

There was some incredible banter through this book, a few very entertaining side characters, and some wonderful educational bits about the Galápagos Islands. My favorite part? Both Henley and Graeme are......likeable, which I feel like never happens in romances! I actually liked both of them. From the beginning. And throughout!

Seriously, though, this is going to be a big book in the world of romance this year, I can already tell!

I've always liked the idea of a cruise, but don't think I'd get much sleep as I'd want to see the scenery as we went past...and my sea legs aren't too good either 🤮

Bloody loved this book, it was laugh out loud funny, engaging & a proper love/hate romance.

Set in the age digital of social media we meet Henley & Graeme, both working for a cruise line who are in competition for the same role. Tasked with how to get more bookings they embark on a company cruise to The Galapagos Islands...together for two weeks!

I loved the banter between these two & their email battles were legendary.

Looking forward to reading more by this author.
