Well, it was the quintessential good girl x bad boy, which is good every once in a while. I personally found the ending to be slightly disappointing, but perhaps it was done like that on purpose.

Sadly this book fell short of my expectations, I really wanted to like it but I just couldn’t. I really couldn’t find anything likeable about our main character and unfortunately for me when I’m like this it’s all downhill from there. The ending felt rushed and just wasn’t satisfactory for me. Sadly and from me.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

Unfortunately, this book was just not for me. It read like an old wattpad fanfic with an incredibly annoying heroine whose only personality trait was that she was clumsy. Please give this trope a rest! The amount of second hand embarrassment I got from reading her scenes with the hero is insane. If this is something you can look past, give it a try but otherwise, I would skip this one.

Thank you so much NetGalley for this digital ARC! I loved this book. I normally find at least 1 or 2 flaws with every book or something that i wish was different but the only flaw i found with this book was that I didnt read the first book! This book was everything. Love, sex, violence, sexual innuendos,,,whats not to LOVE! Bring it on book 3!

This story was not for me. I disliked the heroine, Cassidy, and her infatuation with Max. There was little build up to their relationship which made it unrealistic. Maybe I needed to read the first book to understand this one better, but on its own, this book didn't work for me.

4 stars
Although I did not read the first book, you had me at Mafia, Ballerina, possessive man, and did I say Mafia...
Yes, this had all of that. Strong writing and the promise of more.

I really wanted the female lead to be stronger or to at lest grow stronger in character. I was not a fan of the best friend in the beginning of the book calling her an asexual pigeon. I would think the best friend would be trying to lift her up and he just seemed to tear her down when he could.
I liked that she had so much focus on dancing and was such an accomplished dancer. I liked that she got tongue tied around Max. It was part of her charm and that was sweet. Her family dynamic was odd. The whole thing with the brother was hard to follow and I didn’t really understand what was going on.
Max and the development of his character over the book is good. We really see him go from male jerk to nicer guy who really shows that he cares for his girl by the end. Super sweet that he doesn’t leave her side when she is in the hospital at the end.
There were a lot of characters in this book and some times it was hard to follow.

WOW!!! Our Thing by Nicci Harris was totally amazing. Definitely a must read book!!!

We have Cassidy, an 18 year old ballerina who lives, breath, and sleeps dance. But has had a crush on Max Butcher since he saved her brother when they were children. She only finally gets close to him on her 18th birthday due to her friend hanging out with him. So we go on an emotionally roller coaster of what they will lead to or if it will be anything at all.

Max Butcher, notorious bad boy as the community knows him. He is not a relationship type of guy and is proud of it. He is known for his reputation of fighting/boxing. Will this all change when Cassidy comes into his life or will he keep her at an arm's distance.

I was sad about how the book ended and he did not learn about what happened after, but that means there could be another book which I am hoping. I believe this book definitely is for mature readers and can be a standalone book like stated, but also makes me want to read the others to understand the story better. I loved how the author gave very descriptive details on what happened at times. It caused me to be able to visualize what was happening in that exact moment. I will also admit this was a book I was able to sit and read all day due to being so absorbed into it.

Definitely again a mature readers book and a total recommendation!!!

3 1/2 Stars for this mafia romance.

Cassidy is an 18 year old ballerina and up until now has lead a very quiet life. But her whole world changes when she finally meets her crush ... Max Butcher, the notorious bad boy of the District. Max doesn’t do relationships. He only does one night stands ... that is until he meets Cassidy. She will set his world upside down.

I like Max and Cassidy as a couple ... I just had a hard time believing they got so serious so fast. I thought Max would have pushed more to keep his single life. The sex scenes were well written and very steamy. The book left me wanting more of Max and Cassidy ... it felt like their story just got started and the book was done.

I received an early copy courtesy BooksGoSocial through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

The story dives in rather quickly, Cassidy is a ballerina, and she has a crush on Max Butcher - the bad boy, also part of the mafia, a well-known in the District. She had heard a lot about him but never interacted, but that changed when she drunkenly admits how hot he is at her birthday party.

Max has the alpha male vibe going but is also sweet when it comes to Cassidy. I wish there was more build-up before their casual relation began or to know more about what Max had on his mind or felt about Cassidy or on the whole mafia business.

Although it was standalone, I think reading book one will help to know this one better.

Just when things started heating up..... and boom we reached the end.

The end was although a hfn, it was abrupt and rushed.

Overall I enjoyed it, but it was pretty basic.

I’m going to start off by saying this book is a marathon! It is a long, long book! Now with that being said that doesn’t mean I didn’t read it in one sitting. This book is very good. It was a little hard to get into and fully understand what was happening at certain parts but I think that had to do with me not reading the first book in the series. I know that they can be read as stand alone but I do think the fist book would give some insight during a part of this book that didn’t make much since to me during my first read through. The book is told by a young girl just as she turns 18 and is finally noticed by a boy, actually a man, (who I’d much older than her) who she has been crushing on for years. As she enters his life and they figure out what they mean to each other she also enters his world of gangsters, violence and secreTs. It is a story that has been told be for but in a different light, at least in my opinion, as this book takes place in Australia and involves Sicilian gangsters which is different for me at least co,pared to what I have read before. One of my favorite parts about this book since it is told by the female character (I guess I should mention her name is Cassidy) is that when those around her and in Max’s (the male character whose name I forgot to mention) world speak in Sicilian we aren’t told what they are saying and are left just as confused as Cassidy at times! Overall I really REALLY enjoyed this book, were there parts I would take out to make it a bit easier to understand absolutely but it is fantastic and I’m waiting with bated breath for the 3rd book to continue the story! The only reason this book is not 5 stars is because it does drag on a bit at times and is hard to follow a bit as well but trust me when I tell you to keep with it because you will be rewarded with an excellent story with characters you will actually be invested in and you too will be scratching at the bit for the next book!
