Tried reading this one and it just was not meant for me. This does not mean that it is not a good book, I just was not in the right place to be reading it and have decided to not try picking it up anytime in the near future.

The perfect book to get you out of a reading slump, trust me!

I loved the fun rom com story of Luke and Mia. I have been in a long reading slump with nothing drawing me in, but this one made my weekend. I feel this is a perfect weekend read if you are looking for a fun laugh out loud read that will still tug at your heartstrings.

Was not able to read the entirety of the book and cannot give an accurate or overall rating/review . As a librarian for a big library system, we most likely have a copy of this item. I will look forward to reading it in future since I am sure I will.

This sounded right up my street as I love contemporary books and romance books. Sadly I didn’t really get on well with this one as I really didn’t like the main character. There were a few comments and things written too that felt a little uncomfortable to me, so all in all not the book for me.

Super cute romcom with some light steam involved which I hadn't expected. I thought it would be much more closed door romance so I was pleasantly surprised.
This is the first book I have read by this author and she has a really great writing style.
I loved the window notes, such a cute communication method.
The characters are all great, especially curmudgeonly old Stan who I have a great soft spot for.
Pickles stole the show as all good book pets should!
Well written, light hearted fun.

Actual rating: 2 stars

When Mia moves to Manchester to escape her ex, she never expects to find someone she likes. But then Mia meets the charming Luke who is the bartender who lives across from her apartment. It’s a classic “girl meets boy” story but with a dash of misogyny, a sprinkle of slut-shaming, and a dollop of superiority complexes.

I really did not like Mia at all in this book. She tried so hard to prove she wasn't like other girls and constantly looked down upon other women for doing what they wanted. The constant woman shaming in this was awful. Mia has such a superiority complex and I don't understand why. I thought maybe she'd have growth and redemption in the end but she didn't. She shamed Luke for his past and still fat-shamed other women.

Luke was a decent character and I really think he showed Mia how much he cared but despite that, there were still so many setbacks for the couple. Luke also liked Mia because she was so "different" when she really wasn't. He liked her because she didn't wear makeup and stuff like that which is just adding more misogyny into the book. For being sweet I still didn't like him for believing that just because a girl doesn't wear makeup that she's God's gift to Earth.

On top of all that the writing was dull and soooo repetitive. The same sentence was repeated too many times in this book that it was just ridiculous.

The supporting characters in this were all really great and I did love the setting of Luke's bar but besides that, this book didn't provide a good reading experience

Thank you to Rachel Random Resources, Kathryn Freeman, and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This checked off everything I look for in a book. Was not disappointed. Really enjoyed this book. I will read more from this author. Must read

I was totally sold on the synopsis of Mr. Right Across the Street: woman moves to new city to leave a rocky romantic history in the past and finds herself living across the street from someone she can't help but be drawn to. Oh, and he just happens to own the bar underneath his apartment building, meets her there, and begins living friendly notes for her in his window.

Sadly this book seemed to focus more on the "not like other girls" trope than anything else. Mia isn't like other women because she has the gall to enter his bar alone, wearing a t-shirt. There's also some slut shaming and mean girl behavior, which served to bring down what might have otherwise been an enjoyable romance for me.

What I did really enjoy: The cast of characters is great (even the ones Mia has issues with, I found to be people I'd like to be around). So is the setting - a little apartment complex/bar/cafe area. And I appreciated Luke's desire to talk things out.

If the "cool girl" trope doesn't bother you, you may very well love this one! Though do note it's a bit of a slow burn.

Chick Lit is my current go to at the moment, I need all of it and this ticked so many of the boxes that I wanted! The thing with Chick Lits for me is I want to root for the characters and like them and the CHEMISTRY between these two? YES YES YES! Absolutely loved all of this! Genuinely Mia and Luke were just SO cute together!

Just wish it may of been slightly shorter!

I’m not sure how I feel about this book. It started great, then it kinda slowed down, then it picked up again. It was way predictable. The messages on the window at first were cute and original, but after a while they got boring. I understand why Mia didn’t want to give her phone number to Like at first, but I feel that this just got carried on too long. Also, as someone who works from home, I understand the wearing t-shirts and jeans all the time, but we all know that when you go out on a date you’re still going to try and dress up a bit. So I struggled with her not even putting an effort to look nicer.

Elle (the sister) and Mia’s mom, along with Stan were the funniest characters. Other than that, there’s really nothing remarkable about this story.

This was a sweet romance that I enjoyed reading. The characters were likable and very relatable, I especially liked the places they went on their dates. I thought the book dragged a little in the middle but picked up again towards the end. The notes on the window were really cute! The perfect beach or getaway read! 4 stars.

From the publisher: Mia Abbott’s move to Manchester was supposed to give her time and space from all the disastrous romantic choices she’s made in her past. But then the hot guy who lives opposite – the one who works out every day at exactly 10 a.m., not that Mia has noticed thank-you-very-much – starts leaving notes in his window…for her.
Bar owner Luke Doyle has his own issues to deal with but as he shows Mia the sites of her new city he also shows her what real romance looks like for the first time. And when he cooks up a signature cocktail in her honour, she realises that the man behind the bar is even more enticing than any of his creations. And once she’s had a taste she knows it will never be enough!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

It’s taken me a while to get around to reading this book. The reason for this is that I’ve read a couple of other books where the storyline centres around two love interests communicating by notes. I wish I’d started it sooner!

This book was lovely. I know that must sound a bit rubbish as a description, but it really was.

The cover was eye catching. The storyline was interesting, slightly predictable (but aren’t all romance novels?) and the characters were great. The story flowed well and kept me engaged throughout.

Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for my advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review 📚

Mr Right Across the Street, I mean literally RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. Does finding the perfect guy get any better than having him so close?

Mia needs to start over and get away from her ex, so she moves to Manchester to focus on herself and her career. Unfortunately she is routinely distracted by the attractive man across the street who routinely works out at 10 am.
Luke (the guy across the street) owns and works in the bar downstairs from his home. When Mia shows up to try to make some friends in her new neighborhood, she and Luke eventually become friends.
Both of them are attracted to each other but Mia wrestles with her feelings after her nasty breakup and doesn’t believe Luke is genuine and could like a girl like her. We end up with a “will they or won’t they” type situation that you only have to read to find out what happens.

This one is adorable. It’s a sweet and cute romcom with some quirky characters. The alternating points of view really give you some insight on how Mia and Luke felt and was interesting to see Mia work through her issues and figure out what and who she wanted. Overall it was a quick read that was a ton of fun and had a delicious ending.

This was a solid 3 stars for me. I liked it, but I didn't love it. The messages in the window were a super cute premise, I loved that part. I felt like the author relied a LOT on stereotypes and tropes, and made mention of them way too many times (the nerd & the cool person, the player settling down). This is a rom-com, we expect the tropes but a little more subtlety would have gone a long way. It was also really repetitive with the same issues coming between them over and over again. I didn't think the characters were unlikeable but they felt like the sum of maybe like 2 experiences each rather than full characters. Cute premise but more character development was needed which I think also would have helped the plot along a lot.

Thanks NetGalley for the preview!

I felt like this book had promise but ended up falling flat. There was a lot of intrigue with sending notes back and forth but the rest of the details didn't hold up this element. Mia was pretty judgmental, not trusting and very insecure. Luke was portrayed as every woman could literally not resist him and just seemed unrealistic. I really struggled to stay involved with this story. The lack of trust and the repetition of that issue got old for me and made me believe that their relationship was not built to last.

This was a fun easy read. The prose was a bit clumsy in places, with a lot of repeated phrases, but the overall message of the book was nice. I particularly liked the character arc of the Mr Right of the title, it was refreshing to read a male lead who had a real background to his character. I'd recommend it for when you want an easy read.
