I always love Sue Moorcroft books and this one is definitely up there. Following the story of Zia to Italy there are plenty of fun, frolics and tears under the Italian sun and it is a book you won't want to put down. Perfect beach read

This is one of the fantastic reads that will stay in your memory long after you finish it. It is a story filled with secrets to be uncovered, family dramas, betrayal and, of course, romance.

Zia has long wondered about her father, but none of her family would tell her anything about him other than he is Italian. She has been raised by her grandparents and, following their deaths, some years later decides to look through their documents. What she discovers has her reeling and determined to travel to Italy with her best friend, Ursula, to see if she can discover more about her father and her Italian family. . . . . never guessing just how life changing it will prove to be.

The story has many different threads running through it, threads that are skilfully entwined creating an enthralling, emotive read, with great characters, mysteries, plenty of surprises and the beautiful scenery (and wines) of the Umbria region of Italy. It explores relationships, behaviours, expectations, interactions and so much more in a story with love at its heart. I’m trying desperately to share what an emotive, enjoyable read this is without giving away any spoilers but, suffice it to say, this is a superb, uplifting story from one of my favourite authors and I suspect this is one of her best books to date! I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Thank you to Avon Books and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read, thoroughly enjoyed and honestly reviewed.

The opening chapter sets the stage and impetus for Zia-Lucia Costa Chalmers to head off to Italy. She has many questions about her past and the Italian family she knows nothing about. She definitely wants to know how she ended up with her name. So, she packs her bags and heads to Italy with her best friend Ursula, to track down her father. She finds family there and is staying in a villa when she meets Piero, the son of the family that owns the vineyard next door. She has a summer that she was not expecting.

Zia is a wonderful character. Her life has been turned upside down, but instead of self-pity, she plans on tracking down her father and getting answers. Piero is also a great character with problems of his own, but takes the time to befriend Zia. There are characters that are unlikable such as Zia's father and her ex-boyfriend and Sue Moorcroft does a great job developing all the characters. The supporting characters are typical, friendly, family-orientated Italians, who welcome Zia and support her in her search. Zia was a lonely character when she arrived in Italy, but as she began to develop relationships with those she met, I could see her inner beauty and wanted her to be happy. The side story of Piero's family and the possible loss of his home was also interesting and had this reader becoming invested in both of the characters problems. The setting is beautiful and as always, I love the opportunity to do some armchair travel. While there is a romance in the story, I found Zia's search and Piero's struggles to be the more interesting part of the story. A wonderful summer read that I recommend.

Sue Moorcroft does not disappoint and this book was really good.

Right from the word go I was fully engrossed in the book. Zia has never known her Father all she knows is he is Italian. This is a journey of her learning who her Father is and also meeting the family if she does find them.

You see a part of Italy that looks amazing and you would just want to curl up on the terrace and look at the scenery with a glass of wine.

Another absolute cracker from Sue Moorcroft.. Set in Italy, Sue’s vivid imagery has you looking out over the vineyards and the gorgeous Italian landscapes, which is good since I’m armchair holidaying like most. It is an emotional read! You can tell it’s written with warmth and love, always the characters are relatable and thoroughly believable. You won’t regret picking up this amazing summer read.

Hands up if you have spent your summer living vicariously through fictional characters exploring sunny climes because I certainly have.

This book detailed Zia- Lucia's time in Monteliberta as she follows a trail of clues about her heritage.

A lovely book with a great cast of characters. Thanks to netgalley for the advance copy.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Another good book from Sue.

When Zia’s mother dies she discovers that her life isn’t what it seems. She finds out her mother was in actual fact her grandmother and her mother died when Zia was a baby. She discovers her father is an Italian and decides to go to Italy to try and find out the truth. Her mother left her with an aunt in Italy when she was suffering from post natal depression and Zia’s grandmother decided to bring her back to England to bring her up as her father didn’t want her. Whilst in Italy she meets Piero a friend of her aunts and falls in love but is all as it seems. A book about family, secrets and past relationships.

Having been to Italy on honeymoon, I was instantly taken back to the Mediterranean warmth. Zia’s search for her origins are like the Italian roads, plenty of twists and turns.
This book was a lovely distraction from the rain.
Having discovered Sue Moorcraft through NetGalley I’m extremely grateful and will be sourcing more of her books

When she discovers that who she thought she was is based on a lie, Zia needs answers. Packing her bag and convincing her best friend to join her – she heads off to a small village in Umbria after discovering her father’s roots there in Italy. Far from what I expected, the story is a gentle unfolding of Zia’s story and her connections, both friend and family, in the life she has. While in Italy she meets Piero, the neighbor who also is an owner (with his family) in the vineyard next door.

Let’s start with Zia: she was lovely and determined to find answers to help her define herself and find a way to reconcile the stories that she had been told about her own history, With a wonderful best friend who is both willing to drop everything and help Zia work through her stuff, she’s also got plenty to sort through as family relationships and dynamics morph and change all around her: all of them making her recognize and realize just who she is – with or without these connections.

When you add Piero and his own family dramas into the mix, the story really is about connections: those of family, friends and love, and the development of the truly deep ties that underscore and uphold each moment.

Mix all of this together with lush descriptions, engaging characters and the obvious liking they have for one another amidst all the moments that are more dramatic, and you get a story that is hard to put down and makes you want to dash off to somewhere else to find something: yourself, a good time, even that ever-elusive relaxation.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This was a great romance about a woman’s search for her real family and the people she meets on that journey. Zia’s mother died when she was young and she was raised by her grandparents. As an adult, she finds out that her actual mother got pregnant in Italy, and she and her friend Ursula go there to find Zia’s father. Zia finds out a lot more than she bargained for, and she just might have found the perfect guy along the way. This book features great characters and a fascinating plot. I really enjoyed it, 4 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Weaving family secrets, wine, sun and romance – this book has it all. I was immediately drawn into the story and piecing together our main characters past, I enjoyed how fast pace the story was and how the events start to unveil themselves pretty early in the book. Zia is brought to Italy not on vacation but on a journey to find herself and uncover her family history and it was a delightful ride. I absolutely loved the setting, if you’re looking for some armchair travel, this is it!

I enjoyed a lot of the main characters, my favourite was the chemistry between Zia and Piero. Under the Italian Sun was a great read that filled me with romance and wanderlust. This is my first from Sue Moorcroft and certainly not my last.

Embark on a trip to beautiful Italy! That is what Zia had to do in order to discover her Italian family roots. Zia has some information that leads her to Italy to speak with people who knew about her story. She has a hard time discovering more clues until people start opening up to her. Piero owns the vineyard next door and proves to be a welcome distraction from the stress. Can she really have it all- a beautiful future, love, family roots and time spent in Italy?
