One of my favourite authors but until now I'd only read the Lincoln Rhyme, Kathryn Dance and stand alone stories but decided to take the plunge with a new character. I hadn't read the first two books in the series and at times felt at a disadvantage as there is clearly a backstory running through them. This may colour my opinion but I didn't warm to this book as much as I'd hoped, or maybe because it seemed more specifically American in its subject matter rather than something easily relatable elsewhere with explanations that felt more like a dull legal text book.. Having said that, I did like Colter Shaw and the twists and turns never failed to surprise, and shock, but he's no Lincoln Rhyme..

Another great chapter in the Colter Shaw series.

This was a fast-paced read with the usual twists, and as soon as you have it all worked out, another little surprise knocks all of your assumptions right off target!

I love the detail in which Deaver researches his topics and I find that I’m always learning new and interesting facts.

The new glimpses into Colter’s family life and past added a depth, which only draws the reader in more.

These Colter Shaw series are amazing and gripping. From the moment this book starts you are wrapped in to the fast paced action of this story and you can feel how it is different this time with it being personal. This is a twisty and vengence filled book where Colter is out to avenge his father, reunites with his brother and has to break down the conspiracy to get to the bottom of it all. He gets some help along the way but at all times he stays true to who Colter Shaw is and still tries to save the innocent.

This series really is classic Deaver, you know you are going to sit down and not want to get up again and just continue reading until the end. A great read, well written, great plots and excellent characters.

With Colter Shaw, Mr. Deaver has created a hero for today. Colter is odd! Highly intelligent, trained in survivalist skills, and suitable paranoid not to be taken in by modern antagonists. He is charismatic and intriguing, a real gem.
Having been charmed by the author, now I'm afraid that he has decided to put Colter back in his box. This book is called "The Final Twist", the back story, with very quirky twists and turns, was brought to a comfortable conclusion. Dear Jeffrey please don't mothball Colter Shaw he is much too interesting.

Jeffery Deaver's The Final Twist—the eagerly awaited third outing of his latest protagonist, the extremely resourceful reward seeker Colter Shaw —is yet another winner from the master.

Shaw is finally on his way to fulfilling his dead father’s mission of bringing down the shady, sinister corporate espionage firm called BlackBridge Corporate Solution. BlackBridge carries out all sorts of evil tasks to help its clients become richer and more powerful, and is responsible for several murders—including that of Ashton Shaw, Colter’s father—and the destruction of numerous lives. Following the clues left by his father, Shaw is on the hunt for certain documents hidden by an ex-employee of BlackBridge—also killed by his employer for trying to blow the whistle on its criminal operations.

Despite the odds stacked heavily against him, Shaw takes on the mighty BlackBridge on its own turf, but is captured early in the game. Facing the prospect of torture and death at the hands of a skilled, sadistic mercenary, he is miraculously rescued by a person from his past—one whom he is not sure is even alive. When it becomes known that the success of Shaw’s quest holds the key to saving an unidentified family from their death scheduled two days hence, his saviour—who seems to be better equipped to take on the likes of BlackBridge—decides to aid him. Racing against the ticking clock, Shaw and his ally uncover something far bigger than the crimes of BlackBridge—a long-brewing conspiracy concocted by the firm’s biggest client that could put the future of the entire state of California in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Shaw’s conscience forces him to take up the low-paying job of finding the missing daughter of an illegal immigrant—a job that may or may not be a trap set by BlackBridge and its power-hungry client, and there is only one way to find out.

Thus, The Final Twist races away from the get-go, with nonstop action on multiple fronts, moves and countermoves by the villains and the heroes, and clever, unexpected twists all along. Colter Shaw’s character is one of the unique ones that I have come across lately, and Deaver has done a splendid job bringing him to life. The other characters, especially those on the good side, are well fleshed out too, and are quite likeable. Shaw’s backstory dealing with his relationship with his father and the estranged elder brother lends a lot of delectable meat to the plot. Shaw’s relaxed relationship with Victoria Lesston, the former Delta Force officer who became his partner in his previous adventure, is amusing to read about. Shaw’s new ally brings along quite some muscle and cutting-edge resources that even the odds against BlackBridge and its dangerous client. On the downside though, the appearance of this ally diminishes Shaw’s role a bit, unlike The Goodbye Man, which was Shaw’s show all the way. Also, the multiple threads of The Final Twist make it somewhat less intense than its predecessor, in my opinion.

To sum up, The Final Twist lives up to the expectations created by the two previous novels in the series and I had a fantastic time reading it! Though this book seems to be the concluding part of the series, Colter Shaw’s character has tremendous potential to entertain readers for a long time with many more adventures.

My sincere thanks to the publishers and the author of The Final Twist for my review copy through NetGalley!

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. I am a great fan of Jeffery Deaver and this offering is as good as the others in this series. I love Colter's nomadic lifestyle with benefits....a winnebago and his easy going day to day activities. I am glad that Colter Shaw got to team up with another family member in fighting off the corporate baddies in this episode - no spoiler alert necessary.
Another great offering, if you have not read the others in Deaver's series I recommend them to you.

This is the second book I read in this series and it was a rollercoaster of emotions keeping me hooked till the end.
A page turner, fast paced and action packed.
Jeffery Deaver is a master storyteller and Colter Shaw a great character.
There's plenty going on and I thoroughly enjoyed the development in the relationship between Colter and his brother and what they discovered.
An excellent read, highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately, I had not read the other books in the series so I was at a disadvantage. However, what a cracking read. A clever sophisticated novel. I enjoyed it so much that I am going back to the start of the series. Recommended.

I would like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins UK HarperFiction for an advance copy of The Final Twist, the third full length novel to feature reward seeker, Colter Shaw. There are also 3 short novellas numbered 0.5, 1.5 and 2.5 which I decided to read before starting the third book in the series in the series. The novellas I think can be read in any order, but for full enjoyment of The Final Twist you will need to read The Never Game (book 1) and the Goodbye Man (book 2) first.

The Final Twist is set in San Francisco and Colter follows his dead father’s cryptic clues to find the information that will take down BlackBridge, the company that murdered him and runs into a long lost family member along the way who assist Colter.

I enjoyed The Final Twist, but probably enjoyed the enjoyed the The Goodbye Man the most in the series. but was still a very enjoyable read.

The Final Twist is a good read and would thoroughly recommend it. I hope Deaver writes more Colter books in the future.

Classic Deaver – you know what you’re going to get and the third book in the Colter Shaw series doesn’t disappoint. Easy to read, quick and enjoyable. Colter is getting closer to unravelling the evidence left to him by his murdered survivalist father about the corrupt dealings of espionage firm BlackBridge. How high does their corruption reach and will Colter figure it out or does he need help doing so?

The Final Twist was slightly different to the other Deaver's I have read (excluding the other Colter Shaw instalments).

Colter Shaw is searching for clues to explain his father's death... He is following a trail that his father was following and using his guidance from beyond. What I enjoyed about this story was the character of Shaw, he is a caring, decent guy who will stop at nothing to exact revenge? justice? on those who have wronged his family. He doesn't jump in at the deep end without understanding the risks and although he takes those risks he inevitably comes out on top in the most part.

Written superbly well, of course, Deaver manages to capture plenty of human emotion with this one. He has the devastating loss of his father to deal with, the murderous company of BlackBridge which he feels complete rage and anger toward and then the determination of ending this once and for all.

I liked the tying up of loose ends by the time we got the end, and it really rounding things off nicely. A perfect ending to the Colter Shaw series - or is it? Can't wait to see what Deaver comes up with next.

Recommended for fans of thrillers, mysteries, perhaps adventure/action readers. There's a lot going on here but the 'hunt' aspect was really stand out for me.

Colter Shaw is back and is on a mission to finally solve the last riddle left to him by his father.
It’s not long before he is involved in espionage, murder and secrets that all lead back to Blackridge, a company that he’s always believed had something to do with the death of his father.
Time is against Shaw to find the answers he wants and that he needs to solve the riddle and possibly save a nation. He is a man who doesn’t know how to quit, even if he finds himself up against incredible odds. He will put everything on the line, including himself to bring those who are guilty to justice.
Jeffery Deaver is the master of the taut-twisted thriller. In this third instalment of Colter Shaw we are treated to his brilliance once again.
A book with vivid and suspenseful scenes that could be oh so true.
An author whose writing is elegant and always on point. A true master of his craft, Deaver never lets the reader down. Another outstanding book and one I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed the previous two Colter Shaw novels and The Final Twist is an equally worthy third part to this series. In the previous two books we learn about the Shaw family, the three children, that their dad died at the hands of a mysterious organisation - because of something they want. What is the information two men have lost their lives for? The Final Twist unites Colter with his brother Russell to try and find out what this information is and where it is hidden. The shady organisation behind his father's death is superbly crafted. As usual professional reward seeker Colter is also on the trail of a missing teenager. While i enjoyed this narrative i'd far rather have continued with the investigation into BlackBridge Corporate Solutions and explored the relationship between the brothers. The end brought a tear to my eye. Such a brilliant read - I adored it.

I love the Colter Shaw series and this novel did not dissapoint. It would help if you read the series from the start but is not a must. The book sufficiently explains what has happened previously.
The plot for this series is brought to a cracking end however there is enough family dynamics to take the series further also his line of work supplies plenty of plot opportunity.

I for one hope that this series will continue on as Colter Shaw is one of my favourite book characters

Absolutely fantastic read. I have loved this and been completely unable and unwilling to put this one down.
This is a great read which I will be highly recommending.

I've been so eager to read the next Colter Shaw installment and although I enjoyed it, I felt there was something lacking in this one. The story lines took a long time to link up and I felt Colter's motivations were less clear than usual and I couldn't get into the narrative and lose myself in the plot.in the way I usually do. However, Deaver has set the standard high with this series and perhaps it's more to do with me than his writing.

Overall, I did enjoy the book and there were some interesting developments in realtuion to his family which I enjoyed
Not my favourite Colter Shaw novel, but this hasn't put me off the series, because the other three books have been amazing.
