This novel was an easy going read about an aunt who takes in her late sister's children in, its funny and sad in parts but felt however the ending was a bit too nicely tied up together.

When I started this book I didn’t know what to expect but the more I read and the more I became involved in the story. It made me wonder how any of us would cope with a life changing situation being thrust upon us.

Morgan’s past has affected her life. When her sister and brother in law are killed in a car accident she becomes guardian to two grieving children. The book is beautifully written. and I loved how Elliot looked after his little sister.

This is such a lovely feel good book ,a story of loss.love and forgiveness.Told through the main characters of Morgan and Elliott I felt that the characters were very real and I had sympathy for both of them .The translation was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the ending .I just thought the title was misleading .Many thanks to the Publishers The Author and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review .

Morgan’s younger sister and brother-in-law die in a tragic car accident. Emilie has left the children in the custody of her sister Morgan. A single woman who runs a nursery and lives in a flat in Paris has no idea how to bring up children but she’s got to learn fast. Her mother thinks that she is incapable of raising children and repeatedly tells her she will take her to court for the custody of the children. Things aren’t going well. 10 year old Elliot thinks his duvet cover is babyish and Morgan forgets to bake a cake for her nieces 7th birthday for her school friends. This book is a nice story that shows how Morgan and her Niece and nephew cope following the devastating loss. Will Morgan manage to turn things around and bond with her niece and nephew? Will she ever get the support she needs from her mother? I recommend reading to find out.

Thank you to NetGalley, Aurelie Tramier and Hodder & Stoughton for the ARC of Can I Give My Stepkids Back?
This is my personal review .
Morgan takes custody of her sisters children when the parents are killed in an auto accident. This would make her their Aunt and not step mother which made the story go a different way than if she was parenting step children from a marriage.
This was a story that has happened in many people lives and to read this with myself not having this type of experience really made me stop and think about how I would handle this situation.
The words flow smoothly and it was interesting that it was also told by Elliott, her nephew, thru letters he writes to his Mom to tell her what is happening even though she will never read them it helps him deal with the changes in their lives. This story was filled with a lot of emotions.

This book was listed under the Women's Fiction and Humor section on Netgalley. I didn't find humor at all in the story. It was more of a drama. Morgan had her own struggles and demons, but throughout the book, she grows and finds her own form of happiness. I liked reading about the growth of her personality and love for the children.

It's an OK start to the book... the chapters are waay too short though. It's not keeping my interest so far, but it's not too bad. I really hope it improves though.

I was wrong. It's such a dull book that I've skipped through the last 15 chapters, so I'm up to chapter 20 now and it's lost a star because of that.

Where has the time gone at the bottom of this page?! It literally goes from Morgan going off in a strop at the end of one paragraph, to the tree being completely decorated in the next one!

I think the author/translator is confused 'cos Morgan isn't a *step* mother, she's an aunt and guardian/adoptive mother of her niece and nephew. Morgan isn't an orphan either - her niece and nephew are, not her.

Why has the female child's name changed it's spelling all of a sudden? It was spelt with an ie for the first two-thirds of the book, but now it's suddenly y... have I missed something??

And now, two pages later, it's back to the original spelling again! That's something that should have been picked up during the first round of edits, waay before it was published!

What a beautiful ending! I would happily have awarded it the full 5 stars if the backstory wasn't so dull right at the start... if it had be woven in to the rest of the story and the book had started at chapter 10 then the ending wouldn't have needed to be so rushed and the author could have gently finished the story instead of it going from the nerves of the first date to a year later, a new career, a husband and new house all within maybe 2 pages.

The title of this book is slightly misleading. At first I was expecting the main charater having to deal with their partner's unruly children, but the book is actually about a woman who takes in her sister's children after the parents die in a car accident. I don't think you can really say stepkids in that scenario; I think it sounds a bit odd; but I am also not sure.
The book is told in two perspectives - Morgan, the newly-made parent and Elliott, her nephew. Elliott's parts are almost entirely letters he writes to his deceased mom in a notebook, telling her about what's happening while he and his sister are living with Morgan, while Morgan takes the part of the first-person narrator instead of simply writing about her life.
The story was adorable. I really liked Morgan and could relate to her so many ways - especially about opening up toward the kids. Morgan's mom was an extremly annoying character and I couldn't stand the way she was treating the only child remaining to her...
The romance part did not exactly happen the way I expected it, though I love that it didn't take up too much of the book and that the book was more focusing on Morgan's relatioship to the kids and her mother and doing her best to improve the first. The ending was perfectly sweet and exactly what I was hoping for while reading the book..
I had a great time and I highly recommend this book! It's such a sweet read.
Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley, which kindly provided me an ARC.

When I first started this book I was expecting a cute rom-com with a dash of hijinks and a generous sprinkling of emotion. What I got was a wonderful read full of depth and emotion that had my eyes welling up at some points.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for this advanced copy which I received in return for an honest review.

This book was so cute!
I loved the children especially, Lea was adorable and so sweet and it was so fun to read about their daily lives. Morgan was super relatable for me and definitely a great protagonist, and I enjoyed reading about her backstory and her struggles felt very real and authentic. I also really liked her little romantic storyline in the end.
The plot itself was pretty average. Some scenes were quite boring and I sometimes felt like some chapters were unnecessary long. I did like the split POV between Elliot and Morgan and the inclusion of the letters. I do think there could have been some more excitement though.
Overall this was a pretty cute book, and definitely a very light, fun and quick read.
