Find You First is about a billionaire called Miles who has children somewhere out there. After finding out he has a serious illness decides he wants to find them. That is the start of an adventure he didn't expect. This is the first book I have read by Linwood Barclay for quite a few years and it is brilliant. I loved it, read this book and you will not be disappointed

Linwood Barclay is fantastic as always. Find You First is about a very wealthy man diagnosed with a terminal illness who sets out find his sperm donor children to warn them of the potential of having this illness. Only he soon finds out someone is killing his children. Is it one of the heirs taking out the competition? The plot is fast-paced with plenty of twists. Highly recommended!

A most unusual subject matter and a bit of a slow starter but when you got into the story it took hold of you. A really gripping storyline and a great page turner difficult to put down. Several different scenarios keep the reader baffled leading to a surprising conclusion.

Miles Cookson has more money than he can ever need, but that doesn’t necessarily bring happiness. He has just received the devastating news that he has a terminal illness for which there is no cure. He is not married and has no children but knows that years ago when in need of some money he donated sperm at a fertility clinic.
Miles decides to trace any offspring as he is in the position that he would like to help them financially to enable them to cope with what is in store for them if they have inherited the same disease.
Chloe is the first child he traces, now in her twenties he persuades her to help find others. However it soon becomes clear that someone else is a few steps ahead of them and people start disappearing completely without a trace.
This is a very original concept, fast moving, full of surprises and well thought out. I really enjoyed it even if it became a little far fetched at the end. Thanks Netgalley for an advance copy I loved it!

A great read from Linwood Barclay. Such an interesting premise for a story and I really wasn't sure which way this was going. Kept me engaged and enthralled all the way through.

Tech millionaire Miles Cookson has more money than he can ever spend, and everything he could dream of—except time. He has recently been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and there is a fifty percent chance that it can be passed on to the next generation. For Miles, this means taking a long hard look at his past…

Two decades ago, a young, struggling Miles was a sperm donor. Somewhere out there, he has kids—nine of them. And they might be about to inherit both the good and the bad from him—maybe his fortune, or maybe something much worse.

As Miles begins to search for the children he’s never known, aspiring film documentarian Chloe Swanson embarks on a quest to find her biological father, armed with the knowledge that twenty-two years ago, her mother used a New York sperm bank to become pregnant.

When Miles and Chloe eventually connect, their excitement at finding each other is overshadowed by a series of mysterious and terrifying events. One by one, Miles’s other potential heirs are vanishing—every trace of them wiped, like they never existed at all.

Who is the vicious killer—another heir methodically erasing rivals? Or is something even more sinister going on?

This is an exciting read that you will find difficult to put down. Fast paced and full of suspense.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and HQ for supplying an advance copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review

I am a long time fan of Linwood Barclays work and this book is no exception.
I loved the idea of the rich dude finding his never previously identified children and spent a lot of time second guessing who was responsible for what was happening to those progeny (I was partly right, then completely wrong them a bit right again before deciding I had been right all along!).
Fast paced with a refreshing twist on the motives for murder- another fine novel!

Find You First is a high speed thriller focussing on the decision of Miles Cookson to find his progeny after he receives a life changing diagnosis of Huntington's Disease. What begins as a simple, if difficult and perhaps unethical, decision to find the records from his sperm donation and trace his unknown children becomes something more though. After finding Chloe, they discover that the other individuals are going missing and it becomes a race against time to discover just what lies beneath the surface.

This is a quick and easy read that comes with its fair share of twists, turns and highly improbable events. It's one you definitely have to read with your suspension of disbelief filters firmly on, but it's a highly entertaining and thrilling chase to the end regardless. I doubt it's one that will stay with me for long and it's one of the few books that I didn't find any sections to highlight for future inclusion in my quote books. So if you're coming into this looking for more than a quick and easy read, then it's probably going to disappoint. But it does the page turning thriller aspects well and I was interested in seeing how it was all going to turn out in the end.

Could it have been better? Yes. With more attention paid to the less improbable aspects of the novel, this could have been significantly more memorable. As it stands, it's entertaining but not special.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my free review copy of this novel.

I have read several books from Linwood Barclay and his latest offering Find you first is another entertaining read.
42-year-old Miles Cookson has it all. He is a tech billionaire after inventing a popular shopping app. But that changes, when he visits his doctor to say that he has now got Huntington’s disease which he will slowly die from. Miles is unmarried and has no children. But before his career in the tech business, he was a poor run of the mill guy. So, to earn some money he became a sperm donor. So, with some help with some investigators, he found out it has 9 siblings. He is frightened that he has passed it over to them and he decides that he wants to spread his wealth between them. But his plan doesn’t go, as he planned.
This is another fast-paced thriller from the author that I couldn’t put down. There is so much going on in this book and so many characters but not too much to bog you down. That I read this book quite quickly not only because of the unique storyline but it great ending 4 stars from me.

I am a huge Linwood Barclay fan so was delighted to receive an early reader review copy of this book. This is another excellent read, I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are some really dark themes going on here and two of the characters are definitely based on real life (in my opinion)! which makes it even more disturbing. Plenty of action with some extremely tense moments that certainly kept me turning the pages. There is a thread of humour which surfaces quite often, another aspect I really like about Linwood Barclay books, not laugh out loud comedy obviously but wry, pretty dark humour which appeals to me.
I would recommend all of Linwood Barclay's books, I think my favourite is still the first one No Time for Goodbye which introduced me to this kind of thriller genre.

Miles Cookson has made it in the technology industry but unfortunately he now finds himself with a terminal disease which he can pass to his children. This should not be a problem as he has not married and had children but many years ago as a struggling hard up student Miles was a sperm donor. He now needs to trace the children born of his sperm to leave them in his will and to give them the awful news that they have a fifty per cent chance of getting his illness. Will he find out who these people are and then manage to convince them in time.

Miles, a successful business man discovers he has a degenerative genetic disease . As an impoverished student he had been a sperm donator. Conscience reaches out to him. What if his progeny could develop this? He sets out to discover who they are. This proves not to be such a straightforward mission . There are moral dilemmas, greed, subterfuge and double crossing aplenty-as this book rattles along. A multiplicity of characters both likeable and despicable pepper the pages.
The author draws you in immediately

A millionaire Miles with a life threatening terminal illness wants to identify his offspring resulting from sperm donation years ago.He wants to share his fortune with them to improve their lives as well as finding out whether that carry the DNA which would result in them also becoming ill as they get older.Obviously guilt and the need to make things right are at the heart of this novel. Then various other subplots occur eventually resulting in the different strands being drawn together in the ridiculous finale of the book.Definitely an American novel with excess and brash outlandish scenarios being described and played out during the novel.Somehow I was not immersed in the truths that we were expected to believe during the telling of the story it was just not believable.

Another exciting story from this author . A man , Miles , who has made a fortune over his lifetime finds out he has a debilitating disease , which may be genetic . He thinks back to when he was younger and trying to make ends meet and he had made donations to a sperm bank , he now tries to track down the children he fathered with his donations . By approaching the clinic where he made the donations and bribing a secretary he discovers that he is shown to be the father of 9 children . Miles believes that he should contact these 9 and get them screened for the disease he suffers from . This he starts to do but some of his offspring start disappearing without trace before he can connect to them . What is happening and why? He suspects his sister in law of being behind this because she believes her family should inherit the money and business , but there is far more to it than this as the DNA results unfold . A number of suspects are revealed as time goes on in this thrilling rollercoaster of a story .
