I`m a great fan of Linwood Barclay so couldn`t wait to read this book. Definitely a page turner couldn`t wait to find out where the story was going and how it ended.

Miles has everything money could buy but he finds out he has an incurable disease, in his earlier life he was a sperm donor and after bribing the receptionist at the clinic he finds he has fathered 9 children so starts out trying to find them so they can be tested if they are going to inherit the disease he has and also to help them in future by leaving them in his will.
Chloe is the first one he finds and they bond immediately, then he finds out others on the list have suddenly vanished without trace.

The journey he has trying to find the others on the list with Chloe helping is fast moving with lots of twists and turns definitively a page turner couldn`t wait to find out who had the reason to get rid of them all, I kept guessing and got it all wrong.

Linwood Barclay once again delivers an intensely thrilling and engaging read!

This book is nothing short of brilliant, expertly written and so thematic it could be a blockbuster movie.

I’ve not read many of Barclay’s novels (not intentionally!) but each one I have had the pleasure of reading has been a riveting tale - this one is no different!

I recall being almost 60% through this book and saying to my husband ‘there’s an awful lot going on that I can’t really explain or understand at this point ... but I can’t wait to find out!’ And THAT is exactly what draws me to this author.

Linwood delivers his story in a seemingly tangle of plots all related in someway but nothing is clear. He has great skill in creating a multiple, enjoyable and believable characters - and his ‘baddies’ are always exceptionally evil! The trick I always find is to just go with it, don’t try to figure it out before Linwood is willing to let you. That way, you feel the full force of his mastery in weaving a good story from multiple strings.

Thank you to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

Having read some books by this author a few years ago I was looking forward to reading his latest novel. As a basic summary, the story resolves around a man who finds out some life altering news and wants to alert the children he possibly fathered due to a fertility clinic, the problem arises when the people he searches for are slowly disappearing.

The story is quick paced, with numerous red herrings thrown in to throw you off the trail of who the "bad guy" is. Whilst some of these red herrings aren't fully explained out, they add enough to the story that you can gloss over these little faults.

This was a great thriller and I would recommend for anyone who likes the everyday person caught up in a stressful situation style thrillers.

I was provided an ARC by NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I was thrilled to read this early as Barclay is an auto-read author for me. I smashed through this in one weekend, it hooked me from the start. Unusually though for this author, I did see a couple of things coming so for that reason it’s a 4 rather than 5 stars for me. A great thriller, fast paced and twisty, everything you want from Linwood Barclay.

4 - 5 stars

When tech multimillionaire Miles Cookson gets a diagnosis of Huntingdon's Disease this sets off a chain of events that he could never have envisaged.

This book hooks you in right from the start and you immediately know this is going to be a rollercoaster ride. There are quite a number of different threads in the storytelling but it flows well and the truth emerges a bit at a time with plenty of twists and turns. There are so many connected themes that it keeps you compulsively reading to the end. We have everything from corruption, deception, sheer greed with dangerous malice, hitmen and murder. There are a lot of characters, some to really like and root for such as Miles himself and Chloe who he meets shortly after his diagnosis. She is smart, sharp, brave and very caring. There are plenty of characters to loathe such as Miles sister in law Caroline, who is unbelievably manipulative to say the least. It’s a fast paced novel with a well constructed and intricate plot, there are plenty of good twists and jaw droppers with tension and some good moments of suspense. The end is very exciting and shall we say ‘creative’, just suspend disbelief and go with the flow as I greatly enjoyed the imagination involved!

Overall, this is a very slick thriller which is hard to put down. I did guess some of the outcome but it does not detract one iota from the enjoyment.

With thanks to NetGalley and HQ for the much appreciated arc for an honest review.

I have read a lot of Barclay books and enjoyed them all- this one too. The premise may be a little unlikey, but then again maybe not. I liked the characters- the good ones anyway, and whilst this book isn't great literature, it is a good read.

A Linwood Barclay book rarely disappoints and this one certainly didn't. It had a good gripping storyline and then went off in an unexpected direction, which made it even better. I will keep looking out for his books in future.

Amazing from start to finish. Have to admit I had a different culprit in mind. Kept me guessing. Two possible fathers (sperms doners) trying to find their offspring for different reasons and with a dodgy doctor thrown in, could only make for an exciting storyline. I don't want to give any spoilers, suffice to say I couldn't put this down. Loved all the characters in different ways. Wouldn't mind having seen inside Jeremy's house (before the whacky races incident).
As with all LW books this doesn't disappoint.

Multi millionaire Miles Cookson has been diagnosed with a debilitating, terminal illness. His only family are his brother, sister in law and niece but then he remembers back to when he was a poor, penniless student and he became a sperm donor.
Worried that his potential children will inherit his disease he sets out to track them down.
He doesn’t realise that others are also trying to track them down.
Miles finds Chloe who helps him track down her half siblings but soon they discover they are disappearing or dying.
Really good premise for a story, well written and fast paced with an exciting ending.
Highly recommended 4.5 Stars ⭐️
Thanks to #Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for a fair review.

Another belter of a story from Mr Barclay.
The plot is fresh, the twists aplenty, characters very likable and I was drawn in from start to finish.
An easy 5 stars from me and will definitely recommend.
Many thanks.

When you pick up a Linwood Barclay book you know that you are in for a good read. Find you First is no exception.
Miles has everything. His own company and more money than he knows what to do with. Then fate deals its blow. He is told he has a fatal illness. Faced with his mortality, he realises that others may be affected by the news. He was a sperm donor. There are his potential offspring somewhere in the world. He feels he needs to contact them. His money can go towards caring for them if they too have inherited the disease. Or just because they are his kids.
However, others don't take this news well. Gilbert his brother is upset that Miles is leaving his fortune to unknowns. Gilbert's wife Caroline is even more incensed with the news. There's bad blood between her and Miles. Then there's the long suffering personal assistant.
One of the first kids he tracks down is Chloe. A really likeable character. They go on a trip to track down the other 8 children. However, someone else is also hunting them down and wiping any trace of them. Who could want these people dead.
Linwood Barclay throws in his twist to the story. it will certainly keep you turning the pages.
Thank you to HQ and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I received a free copy from Netgalley in return for an honest review. Here is the blurb

"Tech billionaire Miles has more money than he can ever spend, and everything he could dream of – except time. Now facing a terminal illness, Miles knows he must seize every minute to put his life in order. And that means taking a long hard look at his past.

Somewhere out there, Miles has children. And they might be about to inherit both the good and bad from him – possibly his fortune, or possibly something more sinister.

So Miles decides to track down his missing children. But a vicious killer is one step ahead of him. One by one, people are vanishing. Not just disappearing, every trace of them is wiped."

This story was just ok for me. It was an entertaining enough read but didn't really grip me that I could not put it down. I couldn't help feeling that the character of Pritkin and Roberta were based on real life characters who have recently been in the news....I don't think I need to expand on that other than one recently took their own life in jail before going to trial. I suspect that if you have read Linwood Barclay before you will enjoy this book too.

It had been a while since I'd read a book by this author, but I've always enjoyed his books. This one was no different. Miles, who owns a sucessful software company, has been told that his life expectancy is less than he thought. This prompts him to find his "children" who would have been the result of a sperm donation he made twenty years before. He wants to let them know that they will need to be tested for the same condition. However, as he tries to get in contact with them, someone else is trying to make sure that they are removed from existence. There are a few people who could be behind this and who would benefit from them not being there. The author leaves it until near the end for things to become clear and it is a race against time for one of them.
A very enjoyable read.

Linwood Barclay didn’t disappoint! As good as all his previous work. Although I felt it took a little while to get into, after about 50 pages I was hooked! So many twists and turns, I literally couldn’t put it down!

Full disclosure, I love a Linwood Barclay story, and this was a good solid one.

The premis is an interesting one and although it did wobble a little in parts, I enjoyed it none the less.

Recommend.

Not a bad book overall. Started really well but became a bit bogged down about half way through.
People can read the blurb themselves so in a review it's pointless but suffice to say Miles Cookson is a multimillionaire who discovers he has Huntington's Chorea. Having been a sperm donor in the past he wants to find his ""children" and to warn them and make sure they are financially able to cope with any future illness..
However, there is another interested party who wants to achieve the opposite.
The characters of Miles and Chloe I really liked, others like Caroline I despised and was praying for her comeuppance. There is another extremely unsavoury thread throughout the book no doubt inspired by recent events.
The middle section was a bit slow and repetitive but overall I really enjoyed the book and liked the ending.
The publishers do need to sort out the layout, contextual errors, spelling mistakes and grammar errors but this is an unedited version prior to publication I appreciate. It did make it hard to read in places though

I've been a longtime fan of this author, but, I've found his recent books to be a disappointment; not so this one! This is such a good read. It's an original premise; a man who has a serious illness, tries to track down his children, fathered via a sperm bank many years before. Then people start disappearing. Who is looking to get rid of his offspring and why?

There are some cracking characters in this well told tale and it romps along at a grand old pace. Towards the end there is an element of suspending belief, but, that just made for a more exciting climax.

Overall, such a well crafted storyline and I'm pleased to say Linwood Barclay is back!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and HQHarperCollins for the opportunity to preview in exchange for this honest review.

Linwood Barclay is one of my favourite authors and I was really excited about this book - it didn’t disappoint! A totally gripping story which was hard to put down! I loved the characters and how their relationships developed and the story was full of twists and turns along the way. Really enjoyable read. Brilliant!

Ooh this was good, you start off on one path... Billionaire Miles Cookson on a mission to find the children he may have had after donating his sperms over 20 years ago, a, recent diagnosis to him could impact them so he tries to to do the right thing.

He obtains the list of his offspring, but before he can get to them, someone else has with dire consequences.

Then this book takes a real twist, no spoilers, but it's easy to see where the secondary story came from, one of the biggest stories of 2020 (no, not covid!!!) and there was only one person I could imagine Jeremy as, very uncomfortable plot.

Great read, thanks to Net galley for the opportunity to review, this is my hone opinion.
