Thanks for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.
With Find You First, Barclay is back on top form.
Miles Cookson is incredibly wealthy,, a tech company boss, with no wife or children. But after a diagnosis of a terminal illness, he sets about finding any progeny from his youth, when he donated sperm at a fertility clinic. But someone else seems to be looking for them too.
I was really invested in the character of Miles and enjoyed the partnership with Chloe. Although I could see where the story was heading to , it was an enjoyable ride getting there.

With thanks to the publisher and netgalley for the chance to read the latest Linwood Barclay. I'm a big fan and some of his previous books have had me on the edge of my seat. I'm sad that this was not one of those books.

It begins with Miles Cookson an IT billionaire finding out he has a hereditary disease. When he was starting out in life he donated his sperm to a clinic and now he sets about trying to find these children to ensure that they are provided for should they have inherited the same condition. Before he can find the first they disappear.

Sounds promising doesn't it? And it was until it lost its way in the middle and became quite unsavory. Its written with the usual flare and tension you would expect from Barclay its just it went a bit a wry. It's still worth a read but just not up to what I would expect.

I have found a brilliant author. Hit the ground running. From the very first page you will not want to put the book down. Twists and turns all the way through the book just how I like it. A very definite five stars.

This book started off well but, unfortunately it got a little uncomfortable to read as I really didn’t want to read about a man who was dying of an incurable disease. With all the sadness around at the moment and the knowledge that we can’t mix with our loved ones this Christmas it wasn’t what I wanted to read at this time. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I was hooked from the very first chapter. What a storyline and what interesting characters.
Without giving the storyline away too much, this is a story about DNA and tracing relatives. The moral and legal reasoning behind the research, How it could be manipulated and the effect on the people and relatives concerned.
However, this is fiction and a great fictional story it is. Suspend believe for a short time and just enjoy the roller coaster ride!

The novel opens with the violent death of Todd Cox, a small time crook who cons the elderly. The reader is then taken back to a time three weeks earlier when Miles Cookson, a wealthy businessman whose success came from the field of technology, is being told that he has Huntington's Disease. This is an incurable hereditary disease, which means that there’s a strong likelihood that any children of his will develop the disease, too.

The only children that Miles has are those who would have been conceived after he donated sperm to a Dr. Gold’s fertility clinic twenty years earlier. Feeling an intense anxiety about the welfare of his unknown children, and very much wanting to help them, he decides to track them down and include them in his will so that their share will enable them to obtain any help they might need in the future.

A clinic employee having been bribed to provide Miles’s assistant with confidential information about the children who resulted from Miles's sperm donation, Miles starts to track the children down, who were nine in number, The first he encounters is Chloe Swanson. There is an instant bond between them, and Chloe starts to help him.

Soon after that, it becomes clear that someone with an interest in Miles’s money is trying to kill Miles's nine biological children., and it becomes a race against time to save the lives of the remaining children by uncovering the truth about what is happening and why.

I won’t say any more about the story as I don’t want to give any spoilers in what is a fast paced book, told in short chapters, and shown through the points of view of several different characters. As with so many Linwood Barclay novels, the book that keeps you reading later into the night than you’d intended.

I have loved all of the Linwood Barclay books, with the exception of his last, Elevator Pitch, and I was delighted that this was a return to form.

A big thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

I am giving up.

I've read almost all of Barclay's other books and if you'd given this to me blind and asked who'd written it then I wouldn't have guessed him in a million years.

I love his books because they take the most ordinary of characters and put then in extraordinary situations. Any other Barclay book would have been some white man living his best life with a wife and two kids in the suburbs collecting stamps or something. Bam he suddenly gets told he is a sperm donation and is inheriting money and then someone starts trying to kill him while he works it all out.

This book we knew everything up front. There was no tension. No suspense. The characters were all unlikable. It was totally unbelievable but not in a way that I could forgive for the sake of a good story.

It took me weeks of trying to get through pages of the same conversations and no progress before I just decided to call it a day.

I see that I am in the minority here but it was a disappointment for me.

Not the first book I have read by Linwood Barclay and like the others it has quite a unique plot line. Totally unbelievable but just go with the flow.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for the advance copy of this book.

I haven't read a Linwood Barclay book in ages - I had forgotten what I missed. What a great scenario and I spent the second half of the book trying to work out who was behind everything and why, there were so many red-herrings.

You have to read this book - it was so good especially the ending.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review which I have done.

As usual Linwood Barclaydelivers an excelent page turning thriller. Lots of twists and turns in this story about a dying man and his search for his unknown children. The young heroine in the story is feisty and believable if my own granddaughters are anything to go by and the whole thing resulted in a few very late nights as it was hard to put this book down.

Find You First starts with Miles, a rich and single businessman who discovers that he has Huntington's Disease, a hereditary progressive disease where relatives have a chance of also developing the disease. This leads to Miles considering his past and locating his numerous children following his donation to a fertility clinic twenty years ago. The book takes a turn when Miles realises his biological children are suddenly disappearing without a trace.

This book was so fast paced and I raced through it, not wanting to put it down. The chapters are nice and short and told from several different characters points of view. At first, I was a little apprehensive about this but I found the plot and different characters so easy to follow, it also made me so intrigued to find out the connection between all of the characters.

I've really struggle to find something I didn't like about this book!! I was really invested in the plot and couldn't have predicted how the book would end as there were so many twists and turns. This is the first Linwood Barclay book I've read and I can't wait to read more.

A huge thank you to Netgalley and HQ for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

A can’t stop reading until it’s finished sort of book. Fast paced action, interesting characters and a storyline that looks at how being extremely wealthy can corrupt some people and bring out the best in others. Modern technology is a wonderful thing but brings with it consequences to actions taken years ago that were not even dreamt about in science fiction. How these are handled and the effect new knowledge has on people’s lives is explored in a refreshingly different manner.

Dnf’d at 60%. I felt this was quite predictable and it was just hard going. There were far too many characters as well and none stood out 🤷🏻‍♀️. Clearly wasn’t for me despite loving this authors previous books

I always enjoy Linwood Barclay’s books and I was delighted to receive a copy of his new book Find You First.
When Miles a wealthy businessman is given devastating news about his health he decides to find his children to warn them that they could be infected by the same health problem and to get tested. This will start off a chain of events that has serious consequences for quite a lot of people.
This thriller kept me on the edge of my seat. A rollercoaster ride with some great characters that I did not want to end.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGallery for my ARC of the new Linwood Barclay book.
Long time fan here of the way that Barclay weaves his characters into his stories and how the twists pack a punch.
The story centres around Miles, a tech millionaire, who after discovering he was an incurable disease starts searching for his “children” after making sperm donations in his youth. He discovers that he has 9 offspring out in the world but there’s not just him searching for them...and if they aren’t found by Miles then they will be disposed of....
Another triumph that kept me glued.
