I absolutely loved this book so much I read it all in a day. It was fabulous! Such brilliant characters that really made this story.

I liked this book.
Touching on subjects that we've all read before - but so refreshing to read it from a female author and for her to have hit the nail on the head so well

Main character is Noah. A dad who sees his kids at weekends because his wife (love of his life) upped and left him one day and took the kids with him.
Noah is quite the whiner and it took me bloody ages to warm to him - and even now, it's only lukewarm - but we of course find out about Noah's baggage and whatnot but not enough to completely let him off.
I did however feel that the book didn't need to be so long.

This is a book that on the cover looks like a fun and romantic read. You're expecting this to be a whirlwind tale of someone trying to win back the love of their life but the story is much deeper than that. I think it's fair to say that Noah isn't very likeable at the beginning, in fact he's quite annoying and definitely feeling sorry for himself but I'm pleased to say that he did grow on me. As the story progressed and we learnt more about him and Kate you realise there is a more serious message to this book, but its woven beautifully to still bring the fun and laughter to the story. I related to Noah and the chaos he sees as a primary school teacher, all in all this was a beautiful story that a lot of us can probably relate to.

Noah and Kate were meant to be together forever but marriage isn’t easy. Noah is now a ‘weekend dad’ and puts a plan in place to try to win Kate back. One problem….Kate is getting married in 6 weeks.
This is a real heartwarming read. I was rooting for Noah all the way through. Enter Mimi…Noah’s new best friend who I really admired. There are some sensitive subjects explored compassionately in this book. A real engaging book from start to finish.

Until Next Weekend is my next read from Rachel Marks. I really enjoyed her debut novel Saturdays at Noon which was released last year so I was looking forward to more from her.

This one didn’t start out quite so well for me. The main character Noah is, to put not to fine a point on it, a bit of a d*ck. Slowly though the complexity of his character and the impact his past has had on his relationships becomes apparent and he eventually won me over as the hero in the story.

Noah sets out to win his ex-wife back however with some deep introspection he vows to become a better friend, better dad and better teacher along the way.

As always I feel that the inclusion of children in any story adds an element of innocence and the way Noah betters himself as a teacher is what truly invested me in this story.

I liked this, it made such a refreshing change to have the male point of view for once! The characters made me laugh and I was invested in how it ended and it had the right ending :) Well done, I'm looking forward to seeing if there's a sequel.

A heart-warming journey about love and relationships reminded me of Josie Silver's books. Perfect holiday rerad.

This is the first book I've read by Rachel Marks and I'll be quickly searching for her back catalogue as I loved this and didn't want it to end. The story of all the characters was wonderful. Noah who has two children but continues to let them down causing a split with his wife which then makes him spiral when she is due to get married to someone else. Along come Mimi into the story who I loved. I did think Kate was quite sympathetic and I'm not sure I would be in that situation. However when Noah's childhood comes to light you can kind of see what has led him to behave how he does to some degree.

Another brilliant read from Rachel Marks!
There aren’t many books I have read from a males perspective but I really did enjoy this one. I found the characters likeable and relatable. I found the story at times to be predictable but overall I found this to be a uplifting read.

Absolutely a feel good book! I am not gonna lie, the story was well predictable but even if you are aware what is coming next , you won’t be able to stop reading it. The story is written from a man’s perspective. Noah is a problematic soul, while reading the book there will be many times when you will feel the character is not likeable. But if you think clearly , you will understand the character’s situation. It is indeed a nice weekend read, obviously you will have mixed feelings but the ending’s sadness will melt you down probably.
Thank you for the book.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sin rating: ✅ Clear
CW: depression, self harm, loss, alcoholism, divorce

A fantastic fictional snapshot into the life of a depressed divorced dad trying to raise his kids in the best possible way.

It was bad enough for Noah when his now ex-wife Kate left him, but seeing her in a new relationship with boring Jerry is just too much. With the kids only coming every other weekend, it won’t be long until they start calling HIM “dad”…! Sad and lonely, Noah tries to forget every night with more alcohol and more women… until one day, he decides he wants his family back.

I absolutely LOVED this book. First and foremost, I loved that it took the point of view of a single dad, something I’ve not seen much of.

The writing is excellent and the story is rich, multilayered and deep, from heartbreaking to heartwarming. The author perfectly catches the essence of the complexity of emotions, depression, dealing with the loss of someone.

At the same time, the book was quite funny and made me giggle on occasions. I also loved the way it unfolded and can’t wait to read more from this author. A wonderful gem!

Thank you @netgalley for this one!

A fantastically funny, sad, heart warming book, I enjoyed every minute of it and would have happily read on for a mother 500 pages, I really hope there is a sequel to this book I want to delve back into the lives of Noah, Mimi, Kate and Jerry.
