A illustrated picture book about a girl who is a little unique and her Grandma who celebrates her uniqueness rather then try to get her to be different to how she is. A lovely book to share.

This book really resonated with me, as I child I was also shy and as such missed a few opportunities to shine. Poppy is a very clever little girl who has a bond with nature, she understands so much for her young age but is rarely recognised due to her shyness.

This story explores wonderfully the relationship between Poppy and the nature around her. The bright bold and beautiful colour illustrations are very appealing and pull you into the story. My daughter really enjoyed looking at all the creatures she could see in the pages.

At last in the final pages Poppy is recognised for her talents by the adults and children around her. You can see and feel through the pictures and text Poppy’s joy at being accepted.

I loved this story and so did my daughter, it is beautifully written and the illustrations are fabulous. My hope is that all children suffering shyness are able to be celebrated like Poppy in this story.

This is definitely a book I would love to buy as hard copy, for my daughter. It was a joy to read and Poppy Ann Fields was certainly a character my, nature loving, daughter could relate with. The illustrations are charming and wonderfully inclusive. It's a lovely story about how the wonders of nature can really bring everyone together and offer confidence to children that may feel a little shy. The story is written well and you could really feel Poppy's emotions throughout. Nature really was a guide to bring Poppy out of her shell and make her feel safe within her surroundings.

What a lovely book about a shy, young girl. Poppy isn't loud and funny like the rest of the children, she is quiet and thoughtful. I think this is a lovely book and would definitely recommend it as a gift!

I loved this book .
The pictures are beautiful - just colourful enough to pop but not be too bright. A gorgeous message both in.the pictures and words that being yourself is so important and strong looks different in us all.
Poppy is quiet and gentle - some may even say a bit boring and weak but she blooms when among wild things.
One night, at a party, she hides away until a big bright dragon fly lands and makes her come out to take a peak. As people notice the dragon fly, they notice Poppy too.
A great book for school use for PSHE, Science and just for reading aloud.

This book was a wonderful surprise. Not only a lovely story about a child who loves nature but also about a child who is shy and not sure about crowds. Beautifully illustrated and designed beautifully, a must for any school library or classroom and definitely relatable for many children.

This is a gorgeous picture book that introduces an introverted child, Poppy. She loves nature and will take any opportunity to surround herself in it. She doesn’t like people much and finds it hard to be around them, but through this book, Poppy will discover that is it okay to be quiet and shy; that finding small comforts in her surroundings can bring her big relief.
Overall, this is a refreshing book. One that calmer, introverted children will appreciate..

There are a lot of things we can all learn from Poppy Ann Fields. Poppy Ann Fields loves bugs and nature and being outdoors. She feels most at ease when she’s outside among the wildflowers, and isn’t too sure about being at parties or in big, noisy crowds.
At her Grandma Phyllis’ 100th birthday party Poppy Ann Fields spots the most stunning dragonfly, but suddenly all eyes are turned to her. Poppy Ann Fields doesn’t know what to do, but luckily N A T U R E steps in to help…

In the last 12 months, nature has been an escape, a solace and a comfort for so many of us. When there’s been little else to do we’ve gone splashing in puddles or stomping through woods. It’s the most simple form of escapism, but somehow it has made us all feel better (grown-ups and children!) on those days when things feel cloudy. And A Way with Wild Things is like that in picture book form. It’s an absolute breath of fresh air.
Larissa Theule has created an awesome character in Poppy Ann Fields. She’s calm, kind, and bright, and she’ll give young children support in knowing it's okay to be shy and that they too can find their confidence in the things they know and love.
A Way with Wild Things is also a stunning book visually, and Sara Palacios brings all the colour and vibrancy of the natural world to life. I also love the scenes where Poppy is quite literally blending into the background, in situations where she feels uncomfortable. It’s a gentle but absolutely accurate description of how it can feel when you’re shy.
Without a doubt this glorious picture book will make you and your littles want to pop on your wellies, head outside and see if you can spot some of the wonderful wild creatures which live around us.

A beautifully uplifting tale about shyness and acceptance, rooted in nature and positively blooming with warmth, wonder and wildflowers.

Little Poppy Ann Fields - nature explorer, friend to all bugs, master of camouflage and approved wildflower - will completely capture your heart with her signature glasses and groovy clothes. Irresistibly adorable in both character and connection, Poppy definitely feels like the next new Lola! (From Lauren Child's popular Charlie and Lola)

Larissa Theule's storytelling is soft and lyrical and Sara Palacios's illustrations are utterly gorgeous. So cheery and charming, perfectly capturing the beauty of nature and the spirit of belonging.

Loved the bug glossary at the end. Just loved every page to be honest.

Attractive, eye catching, colourful illustrations. We enjoyed spotting Poppy in the pictures & counting ladybirds.

The story is lovely, both because it explores & explains what it's like to be shy, but also who doesn't love a book with bugs.

I love Poppy Ann Fields from the very first page! I like her clothes, her glasses and her tiny nose! Such a cute character. And the illustrations are superb! I'd love to hang them on my walls; so beautiful and cheerful.
And now, all I want to do is talking with the ladybirds about shapes and colours and the heights of flowers. Loved every page!

I actually find this book quite relatable - I have always said I much prefer animals to people.
The story is very simple but it has a lovely storyline. The pictures are really cute and colourful so very eye-catching.
