I desperately need this book. It's been far too long since I've craved to read and couldn't seem to put a book down.
I grew up watching MASH so it was easy to just flip some characters into that setting and enjoy this quirky ride. While primarily lighthearted and snarktastic fun, the end does have a bit of a kick in the feels. So excited to see where the story continues. On to book 2...

I’ve been on a heavy emotion read binge lately and needed a break. When I came across The Monster MASH by Angie Fox, I felt this many the book I needed to lift me up. With a check list of Ancient gods, modern war and star-crossed couple I was thinking maybe not. Hang on – a vegetarian werewolf? A nosy sphinx and an uptight vampire? Whaaa! Pet swamp lizards and this is all set in a M*A*S*H* like environment? You have got to be kidding me. This I got to read!

Petra gets drafted into the army of gods as a MASH surgeon. A hard place to be especially when you have a secret to hide, one that could get you killed or worse. All that changes when a half-dead demigod arrives her operating table. When his spirit tries to slip out of his fatally wounded body, Petra does the unthinkable and exposes her secret. Thank the gods no one noticed…well except for Galen. Now that he knows her secret, he’s convinced she is part of an ancient prophecy. The one that can end the war for good. She would do anything to end the war but to expose her secret -she would do anything but that. It would be easier to convince Galen to leave her alone, except now the prophecies are starting to come true! O.0

What a great read! The characters are lovable. Petra and Galen were great, but my personal favorite was Rodger (How can you not fall in love with a vegetarian werewolf?!). The situations Petra finds herself in had me in stitches. The severe lack of privacy not to mention fashion show! ROFL!! Would the war ever end? Could Petra finally get a happy ending with Galen? Would anyone finally get Kosta? The fun and laughter were unending. As each prophecy came true, I found it harder and harder to put the book down.

All good things must come to an end and what a ending The Monster MASH had. Author Angie Fox has created quite a fun and entertaining story here. I just can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

Take M.A.S.H. ( partly the book series and partly the TV show), toss in a female doctor, add in werewolves, vampires, demigods, and an endless war between the "New Gods" versus the "Elder Gods." Shake, stir, toss in a prophecy or two and you have the backdrop to this title. But the fun comes with how Angie Fox works her tropes. She has the setting of a M.A.S.H. unit set in a Limbo background with unwilling doctors who cannot leave, and have endless streams of patients. Then there is the pranks, the need for closure, or at least relief. Romance blossoms despite severe restraints on Dr. Robichaud's desire. Now, all she needs to do is survive the prophecies and stay in love. And the fun is that volume two is already out!

The beginning of a trilogy, set in a MASH unit in Limbo. The old and new gods are fighting a war, and Petra, who is part human and part fae is one of the doctors in the MASH unit. At times light, at times dark, but the story clips along. Really enjoy this author's series about Verity and her gangster sidekick. This one is not as fun as those, but still enjoyed it. Look forward to book 2, where her old boyfriend shows up. Would recommend, but since each book builds on each other I suggest reading them in order.

Ok so I was really thinking that I was going to love this book, and the pages were going to fly...... I liked it, I didn’t love it. This very PG, the romance is almost not there, not that that’s a bad thing.... The story is a bit all over the place and redundant but all in all it’s easy read, if not long at times.

My first book by Angie Fox and I absolutely loved it. A really interesting and unique urban fantasy, which I love because there’s so much the same out there and it’s fantastic to read something new and quirky. There are great characters, humour, action, drama, wonderful world building and great writing. Fast paced, this is an addictive read, absolutely enchanting and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

First book I’ve read by this author and honestly I’m impressed, I will definitely read more by her. Her character development was amazing! It was a quirky great read!

The Monster MASH, is the first installment in author Angie Fox's Monster M*A*S*H series. This book is the updated version of Immortally Yours. After the fall of Troy, the younger Gods declared war on the old Gods. The Gods are also fighting over which side would get what Capitals (Atlantis or El Dorado). For those who did not know if before, MASH stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. 42-year old Dr. Petra Robichaud is a MASH doctor in the war between the old Gods and new Gods. She serves the New Gods in Limbo. She was a drafted (forced recruitment) from New Orleans. As a half fairy, she is expected to serve until the day she dies, or the war ends, which ever comes first.

She also has a secret which could get her killed. She is able to see the dead which has been outlawed by the Gods. If the Gods ever find out about her power, she’ll be in mortal danger because of a prophecy about someone with that power being able to bring peace and end the war. Petra’s been able to keep her secret to herself, but when Commander Galen of Delphi shows up on her operating table, everything changes quickly.
Petra’s reluctance to play her predestined role because of the irreversible harm she did to the people of New Orleans shortly after her arrival. She doesn't want to repeat that same mistake which is why she freaks out when a dagger seems to follow her around every where she goes.

Galen is a demi-god and the leader of the Green Hawk Special Forces team in the New Gods Army who has served since the Siege of Rhodes 500 years ago. Galen is certain Petra is the healer foreseen in the prophecy. Galen needs to persuade the doctor to help him put an end to the war that has been going on way too long with nothing to show for it but mass casualties. Can Galen convince Petra to play her intended part? What sacrifice will he have to make? But Petra is terrified, both of the prophecy and of her growing feelings for Galen.

The future literally depends on Petra’s ability to face both of those fears. It also relies on Galen's desire to keep Petra safe from anyone who might want to condemn her to a life of constant torture. The author has a real sense of humor. From the way she uses TMZ like reporters to report on, you guessed it, the Oracle Watch to explain which part of the prophecy they are talking about next.

Petra has two roommates. Marius, a vampire, and Rodger Wolfstein, a vegetarian werewolf keep things interesting. The ongoing prank war on Colonel Kosta is also reminiscent of the TV show M*A*S*H which I watched religiously. Father McArio is the only other person that knows about what Petra is able to do. He is the only one who knows another secret of hers that ended up causing a whole lot of pain and suffering back home.

There are a number of other secondary characters to watch out for: Horace is an alleged wing god. Shirley is Colonel Kosta's admin, no, she's not Radar, or Klinger. Jeffe is a security sphinx who has a tendency of causing mischief with the number of questions he asks of people.

This is definitely a quirky, unusual fantasy book, set within a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital where Petra Robichaud works as a surgeon. The catch is that the MASH unit is located near a tarpit in Limbo and the war is a never-ending one. A fair number of the patients they are treating are immortal, which poses its own problems, apparently. If you don’t get to them quickly, bones set at wrong angles and massive injuries can have organs healing into peculiar shapes, or unable to function exactly as they were intended. Such is the life of a surgeon dealing with immortals, among other types of soldiers…

She shares her tent with a depressed werewolf, who is missing his family horribly and a perpetually annoyed vampire, who gets very fed up when he emerges from his coffin to discover his cuff links have been used to fix a tear in the canvas. As in the old TV show, while the overall setting has the capacity to be utterly grim, the madcap humour the medics use to keep themselves sane is used within this book. Fox has re-issued this one to feature more on the humour – and I think her instincts were spot on. I couldn’t have got to the end if it had been a miserable ansty read, all about Petra’s personal tragedy.

As it is, we learn what makes her quite so grouchy about two-thirds through what is essentially a romance. Though the ongoing story of the war and the big game-changer that suddenly makes it far more critical to be on the winning side does play a major part in the ongoing narrative. Overall, I enjoyed the originality of the story and I thought that most of the time, the developing love story was handled well, though towards the end it did get just a tad mushy for my taste. But bear in mind, I generally enjoy my romances as a side dish, rather than the main course. Recommended for fantasy fans looking for something a bit different. While I obtained an arc of The Monster MASH from the publishers via Netgalley, the opinions I have expressed are unbiased and my own.

Oooooowee! I loved this book.

The Monster MASH tells the tale of a Dr. Petra Robichaud who is recruited(I use this term lightly because it's definitely more of a forced) to treat soldiers who are injured in an immortal war. She has a dangerous secret though, one that a delicious new patient by the name of Galen of Delphi may give away. The camp is a dangerous place, one that any of Petra and her fellow friends would do anything to get away from.

While I enjoyed the characters and I feel as you read you get to know them better, I still wish there was just a bit more back story to them. You get glimpses into their pasts, but I love a good book that gives me both past and present to help show their development as a character.

This book had the perfect blend of action, romance, and is truly a read that keeps you on your toes. I would recommend picking this pick up for an awesome blend of romance and action!

This book will take you on an epic ride. It's Mash, Grey's Anatomy, and the soaps all rolled up within a mythology blanket. You will laugh, gasp and have moments where you just smile. This is the first book in the series. Galen, a hot demigod and Robichaud a human physician with secret gifts attempt to save their world and not fall victim to the prophesy. Absolutely enchanting read.

This sounded intriguing, a human doctor conscripted to work in a MASH unit with a group of werewolves, vampires, etc in a war between the Gods. And of course our heroine is special, because she can see the dead but she keeps it to herself until she accidentally pulls back a soul from a dead man into his body and brings him back to life. Now doesn't that sound great?

Sadly, I just felt thrust into a plot with very little explanation and then it degenerated into our heroine lusting after Galen, the warrior she saved and everything being a little bit like High School.

I stopped and started this several times over the last month but I am now admitting defeat, it just hasn't grabbed my interest.

Angie Fox does it again. I had so much fun reading this book and it had some romance. How can you go wrong with ancients goods in a middle of a war, a prophecy, and a forbidden gift in the middle of a MASH unit? Dr. Petra Robichaud has been enlisted for the rest of her to be a surgeon in the war between the immortals. She can see the dead and this is forbidden and can lead to her death so she has not told anyone. Except when she puts the soul of a handsome immortal back into his body. This sets off the prophecy that if it completed will lead to the end of the war.

If you ever saw MASH then picture the setting like that. The author updated her original version of this book to be more of her vision and how she wanted it to be. I can't wait to read the next books in this series. If you like paranormal books you will enjoy it. So do yourself a favor and pick up this book.

The character development in this book was very well done. Normally this genre has a tendency to skip this but the book did a fabulous job of giving background to three characters before giving them any sort of relationship. The plot was pretty good...I’m still a little confused of what is to come but that’s why there’s a sequel to find out! The romance is well built and real, and the friendships established are genuine. The character are not cookie cutter and have faults but this was well put in relation to the plot.

This book was like nothing else I have ever read. Following a human surgeon serving in a war between the old Gods and the new Gods, she accidentally becomes the only person who can stop the war. The storyline keeps you totally engrossed and the characters are very well written. You totally care about how these characters are going to survive in the middle of this war zone, although many of them are not human. It feels as if this could be a MASH unit anywhere in the world during any war. The friendships and other relationships between the characters seem very real! I can't wait to read the next one!

Loved it. Filled with fun, passion, drama, adventure, mystery, conflict and romance. Action is well paced and description is vivid. Writing is superb with dialogue and scenarios that are hilarious. I have read many books by Angie Fox and she always makes me laugh. Amazing cast of characters to love and several that you will love to hate. Setting is reminiscent of TV's M*A*S*H* with the dirt, poor food, and ramshackle operating room and living quarters of the mobile army surgical hospital located in a no-man's-land near the Gates of Hell, instead of in Korea. Complete with the practical jokes and hijinks. Switch out the 4077 for the MASH 3063rd and the doctors, nurses, paramedics and patients are a combination of demigods, humans and mythical creatures. Dr. Petra Robichaud does not quite fit in any of those categories. Petra was drafted, indefinitely, into the New God Army as a thoracic surgeon in a MASH camp behind the front lines in an immortal war. Commander Galen of Delphi is built like a Greek god, since, duh, he is a demigod from Delphi. Galen arrives on Petra's operating table with a fatal wound and in the process of saving his life, he learns a dangerous secret about Petra. She couldn't let him die, even though she had to endanger her life. Fate has brought them together for a reason. You need to read the book to find out why. Petra only ever wanted to make a difference. She never dreamed that would mean she would be drafted to serve at a MASH unit for the younger gods army.

With no time off for good behavior and hope of early release. She might as well do what she can. However, she has a deadly secret. She can see the dead and stop souls from leaving the their bodies..

The Gods don't like these kinds of gifts and are known to be creatively gruesome especially to those who have gifts they don't like.

With thrills , chills, laughs, some romance and danger this is a fantastic read.

Petra is a mash surgeon who was forced to attend to beings in the immortal wars. This book was so unique and it definitely caught my interest. By the second chapter I was hooked.I loved the realistic characters and the plot was fascinating. I am definitely a new fan.

Full disclosure, I may have been drawn to this book because I was and still am a huge fan of the popular TV show. Of course, I’m also a fan of Angie Fox, so I knew going in that picking up The Monster Mash was bound to be a win/win. I wasn’t disappointed.

The world building in The Monster Mash was unique and the story was fast paced. The characters were well developed and even though they were living in horrific circumstances, there was just enough lightness to break through it. Petra was a character that was easy to like and the supporting cast of characters added a lot to the story. They were fun, quirky and in the same inescapable situation as Petra.

There was more going on with Petra than being trapped in a never ending war. She had a secret that keeping was a matter of literal life and death. If that wasn’t enough, she was part of a prophecy that she wanted nothing to do with. It became more and more obvious that it wasn’t something that she could run away from, no matter how much she tried. Especially since one of the only other people who knew her secret wasn’t about to let her walk away from him or the prophecy.

I missed Monster M*A*S*H series the first time around, but I’m kind of glad because now I have a new to me Angie Fox series to catch up on with a fresh new look. Transylvania Twist is next and it’s already on my TBR pile. Stay tuned!

This was a pretty funny and entertaining read! Had me smiling and laughing out loud multiple times! Paranormal/fantasy is definitely my kind of thing, but I have to say though that I felt a bit overwhelmed now. There are so many different pnr elemtens/creatures popping up which sometimes made it feel a bit chaotic and 'too busy'.

So to me it was an overall fun read, that I'd definitely recommend to pick up if you're looking for a book that brings smiles to your face. But it also wasn't a book that really blew me away. It remains a bit mediocre I think, so hence the 3 stars; I had some remarks, but it was definitely entertaining as well!
