This book was great. It was a completely unique concept that hooked me from the beginning. I was a little surprised that Petra and Galen were merely pebbles that led to "bigger" characters to cause a cease-fire to be called to the war, but it showed that even a small thing can have a huge impact on the world around. I loved how well-written Petra and the rest if the MASH crew were made. Each one had a unique personality that really helped the story move and kept me laughing at their silly antics.

What an enjoyable story! It's a wild ride in a fantastic world and I totally enjoyed it. The gumdrop scene had me laughing. You get demigods, half fae, werewolf and a vampire set it a totally imagined world. I highly recommend it. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and freely leave this honest review.

I received this ARC via Netgalley, Author Collective 20 and Moose Island Books, in return for an honest review. This is a modern fantasy set in the Limbo as the new and old gods war for dominance. I enjoyed this book, both for the unique fantasy story and the homage to TV’s MASH series.
Dr. Petra Robichaud is partially human/partially fae. Conscripted in the New God Army, she’s a thoracic surgeon with no end to her ‘recruitment’ and assigned to a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH) unit near the front lines in a world of imps, devils, red dust and thermal vents that go straight to Hell. What can get her killed or placed into eternal torment is her secret – she can see & speak with the dead. When she resurrects a demi-god, he’s convinced she’s the answer to the end of the never-ending war. Petra is not convinced.
The book is written with serious and light-hearted parts. There’s romance and danger. There’s frustration with the hell that they’re all in. There are fun secondary characters, like Petra’s roommates (shades of the TV series again), a wise chaplain and a hardcase commanding officer.
This is the beginning of either a series or, at least, a two book story arc. I enjoyed this and recommend it.

Myth: 3.5/5

We’re dropped into a MASH camp, while conceptually this is relatable, this particular MASH camp is in Limbo, on the battlefield of the Old Gods verses the New. I definitely enjoyed the paranormal twist on a very “human” concept.

Petra was drafted as an army surgeon in this immortal war. She has her own secret, she’s a little more than mortal herself. Her hidden power and her drive to save lives leave her exposed as the one who brings peace in this seemingly unwinnable war.

The MASH camp characters were charming and eclectic. A great mix of supernatural drama, restlessness in a war camp and surgery. Petra was a strong, solo figure, used to taking care of herself and others, so it rocks her world a bit when a demi-god soldier she saved wants to take care of her.

Magic: 3/5

I like a good prophecy. It was a cute addition to have the Paranormal News Network (PNN) covering the oracles as they set forth each prophecy. I’m not sure I was a fan of the way that the next step/oracle would be revealed after the previous was complete.

Overall: 3.5/5

A cute story with fun characters in a unique setting.

This is my first read from Angie Fox, a copy was received courtesy from NetGalley. I struggled with this book, had to stop a few times and restart again. The premise of this book was very promising to me, however I find this first book sorely lacking. Lacking in what, I'm not really sure as it failed to grabbed my attention. Some of the humour in this book felt a tad flat but all is not lost, I still would recommend this book for those who enjoys reading fantasy paranormal romance.

**I enjoyed a free ARC copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a review.**

This book relates the idea of mortals in the world of the Gods fighting and working beside them in the war between the old and new Gods.

Petra is a doctor who has been recruited to work for the army of the new gods. Petra's existence is harsh and lonely in the land of the Gods. She is a healer to her core and does her job well while working to keep her secret hidden. Then one night and immortal landed on the operating table, he had been mortally wounded.

In a spontaneous act, Petra performed a resurrection and sets an old prophecy in motion.

This book was quite enjoyable. I thought the humor did not have the desired effect but it was a great read nonetheless. The surprises and twists and turns within the pages were what really appealed to me.

I look forward to reading the next book from this author.

I really wanted to like this book more. I grew up watching M*A*S*H* with my grandpa, and when I saw a book with romance and a mythical M*A*S*H* theme, I was all in.
It's not that I didn't enjoy this book, because I did! The characters were great, the dialogue was super funny, and all the little nods to the show warmed my heart. The world building is good, and the world itself is so interesting. I loved all the different mythologies and creatures. It's just...I REALLY hate the fated mates trope. And that has nothing to do with the author or writing, and everything to do with me.

Loved it, definitely not the MASH I grew up watching with my dad. What happens when the old gods and new gods fight for control and humans are just tools to use for their own amusement. Why don’t the gods want the war to end they have a prophecy but they will kill anyone that fits the description of the savior. Can one doctor and a dimi god save the world. I can’t wait to read the next book. I definitely recommend this book

Meh, this one just didn’t do it for me. I skimmed the whole second half. It was predictable and the characters were one dimensional. I didn’t like Petra. She was annoying and stubborn. The parts that were supposed to be funny fell flat for me. Just not for me.

This was an absolutely awesome book - it had its flaws, don’t get me wrong, but awesome nonetheless.

This book is about a women, Petra, who was initially a paranormal doctor in New Orleans. She was involuntarily conscripted to be a M.A.S.H surgeon in the war between Gods. She spends her days patching up the wounded and the dying, and the day was just a regular day until, Galen the demi- god from Delphi is rushed into surgery. Dying from a fatal wound, Petra rushes to save his life. Galen’s spirit starts to slip from body, and Petra puts everything on the line to save the gorgeous man. She slips his spirit back into his body, putting herself and her secret at risk of exposure. Petra can see spirits, an ability forbidden by the gods, and punishable by death if she is discovered. After Galen’s life was saved, and knowing Petra’s secret, he is convinced that Petra is the healer prophesied to end the almighty war between the old and new gods.

This book captures a great element of humour; some of it was a little cheesy, but if you go into the book with a lighthearted nature, you’ll really enjoy the story. Some parts of the book was a little rushed and under developed but nothing that stands out majority. The writing was easy to follow and the story had great flare and some awesome characters. Would 10/10 recommend, and I can’t wait for the next book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Angie Fox for giving the opportunity to review this ARC of The Monster M.A.S.H. This review is posted on NetGalley, and GoodReads as of the 9th of December 2020

Dr. Petra Robichaud was drafted into the immortal war against her will. Now she is assigned to a M*A*S*H* camp with a nosy sphinx guard, a vegetarian werewolf, a vampire, and a demi-god. When a demi-god ends up on her operating table fatally wounded she is determined to save him, even if it means risking discovery.

When I saw that this was a paranormal version of M*A*S*H* with gods and other supernaturals, I instantly was hooked. This book was equal parts serious and silly. There is a prank-war going on in the amp to see who can get the commander. There are hidden pets that keep multiplying. Oh, and there is a prophecy that will lead to the end of the war between the old gods and the new gods. So lots of things were going on in this book but it was a great mixture of fun and seriousness.

Petra is part fae and had lived a pretty normal human life until she was recruited. Now she is stuck in Limbo for the rest of her life patching up paranormal soldiers. Petra is a very bull headed woman. She has to see things to believe it which is why she struggles with accepting her part in the prophecy. Galen had to keep encouraging her to believe in herself, or at least him and his abilities. I liked Petra but do wish we had seen more of her ability to see ghosts, which is only seen in the very beginning of the story.

Galen was our demi-god warrior that Petra saved. I liked him. He was supportive, sweet, and an overall great person. He gave stuff away to others at camp. He encouraged others to have hope and to believe in themselves. I really loved how sweet he was throughout this book, even when he was going to his death.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. I will be continuing the series because I want to see what is going to happen next for Petra and Galen.

The Monster MASH by Angie Fox is a funny, gripping, and drama-driven plot that explored how small things can make huge differences. As a fan of the original MASH tv series I thought this supernatural spin was brilliant. The characters are alive and vivid, the plot will have you both chuckling and lamenting. Beautifully paced and engaging this was a thrilling read from start to finish.

Oh my gosh this book is a hoot! It’s going to be a must have for any library! Think MASH with Alan Alda but in a supernatural way. When Petra saves a Demi- God the ends up on her table in her MASH unit, she is in for more then she bargained for. A handsome God , 2 crazy bunk mates and a knife that won’t leave her alone, then there’s the prophecy!

I received an ARC from Netgalley. I am leaving my honest review.

The old gods are engaged in a long term battle with the new gods. Petra, a mostly mortal doctor, was conscripted and assigned to a MASH unit. There she meets demi god Galen. Together they work to fulfill a series of prophecies that may end the war.

The Monster MASH doesn't break new ground. The plot is predictable and the characters rather generic. References meant to be humorous instead come across as trite.

Despite its flaws this is a quick, pleasant read.

Petra was drafted into the army of the gods. All she is hoping is that she will be able to keep her darkest secret.. that she has the gift which makes her see the dead. This is a forbidden gift, if the one that will get her killed once found out.

Galen can’t let go of what he saw and felt when Petra saved him. He thinks she and him are the ones to save the world, as the prophecy says.

This was a truly great story, and I will definitely continue reading this series I have already pre ordered the next book.
I can tell that a lot of time has been put into this book by the world building. The story was unique, funny with a good amount of romance in it.
I’m planning on checking out other books from this author.
