This was brilliant, a real rollercoaster read.
Maya and her father live in a remote part of Dorest; in a house on the edge of a cliff.
The same Cliff that her mother fell from to her death when Maya was only six.
Maya can’t remember much about that day, but her father has always kept her Mum’s memory alive with stories and pictures showing just how much she loved her only child.
What if those memories weren’t real?
The ending of this book was so cleverly written , steering the reader towards one conclusion only to have it snatched away at the last minute by another twist.
Would thoroughly recommend this book.

Normally, when I am drawn to a thriller/ suspense genre novel I read the synopsis and like the idea of them. This book, I didn't even get to the back of the book before I wanted to know all the details... HIS HIDDEN WIFE! Yes, please.

This book did not disappoint. Full of characters that ALL have secrets and lots of different reveals throughout the read, it keeps it fast paced and very engaging.

The perspectives of the story were interesting and made other characters mysterious, which I needed to keep reading to find out MORE!

If you are a fan of thrillers then I would recommend you read this!

This had a slow start but then the drama started to kick in and it became a lot more gripping. It also dealt well with mental health issues and had great representation in this respect

Honestly not my favorite book of Wendy Clarke’s. It was a bit of a slow start but then did pick up the pace and get better throughout the second half.

I was really intrigued by the premise of this book and it started off interesting enough. Maya's mother died when she was young and she lives in a small town with her father and seems to have this unexplained desire to protect him from something. Unfortunately none of the characters were particularly likeable and the story itself fell flat. I felt parts of the story dragged on unnecessarily. I also found the storyline with Theresa to be kind of out of place and her mental health skills to be extremely questionable and unprofessional. One section of the story was extremely unbelievable and kind of diminished the rest of the story.
Thank you too NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The title was intriguing enough for me to request the book on Net Galley and my request was approved.

I was excited for the story because the title was giving me some ideas and the story was not at all what I was expecting it to be. While there was surprise as far as the story goes, it was not a pleasant surprise. The plot was kind of convoluted and with every new chapter there was a thought of why am I even reading this because the story did not seem to be going anywhere.

The ending was kind of anticlimactic and the synopsis did not do justice to the story as well.

Wow what can I say this was a brilliant twisty domestic psychological thriller that had me hooked from the very first page and what I read in one sitting late into the night as couldn’t put it down. I love the way this author draws you in and creates a sense of suspense amongst the pages so that you don’t quite know what is going to happen next

The airy backdrop of the house on the edge of sea only adds to the atmosphere of the book and the descriptions of the events are so well described you feel like you are actually there. This would make a perfect tv drama as was based on the concept of memories and how they can be shaped and formed.

The characters were complex against the backdrop of the tragic events of the past and how the lies have built up over the year to shape the future but also how everything is now about to
Change.

Another fantastic thriller from Wendy Clarke! I always enjoy her books with all their twists and turns, as well as good character development, which is not always a given in this genre.

A good read with suspense to keep you turning the pages. I felt the story was a little slow to begin with but once the pace picked up I was hooked. If you are interested in how memories are formed in childhood this one will be right up your street. Maya and her dad have been alone since her mother died tragically in a clifftop accident when she was 6 years old. May has never been able to remember to the time of her mother's passing. Recent events start to trigger memories her that has her doubting all that she knows and all she trusts. Recommend.

Reading Between the Wines book review #111/115 for 2021:
Rating: 3 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book 📱: His Hidden Wife
Author: Wendy Clarke
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers
RELEASED on February 4, 2021!!!

Sipping thoughts: I was really invested in this story. I really needed to find out what happened that night when Maya was 6 years old. I wanted to find out if she really forgot what happened or if she knew more than she wanted to admit. And what about this other point of view, Theresa? Where does she fit into the story and why is she so obsessed? I thought I knew what happened, but I only figured out part of it. The other part totally blew my mind.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @Bookouture for an advanced copy of @HisHiddenWife.

Interesting enough, but it felt a little uneven to me. It definitely kept me guessing though! I thought the title wasn't really the right fit for the book. Overall, I liked it, but probably wouldn't recommend it.

This is a Suspenseful Thriller with twists and turns that will keep you guessing. WOW... There is not a lot of thrillers that have me totally blinded sided. I cannot say how much I loved this thriller. In this book we follow two different points of view. This book pulled me in right away and it had me guessing from the beginning. I really did not seeing it ending like it did, but it was not an ending that was not believable. I loved this whole book, and it was so well written. The characters where so well done, and you either love them or hated them. Which was what the book wanted to do. This book will get into your head. This is a must pick up thriller, and the hidden secrets will have you guessing. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Bookouture) or author (Wendy Clarke) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I read "The Bride" by Wendy Clarke & really enjoyed it & then I discovered that I also had "His Hidden Wife" so I knew I had to read it as well.
I thought "His Hidden Wife" was an interesting story where the beginning was a slow burn but, the last 3rd of the book picked up the pace & it was definetly worth the wait.
There was lots of unexpected twists & the ending was a total shocker.
I'm definitely interested in reading Ms. Clarke's next book.
