Dreams of the Past by Laura Hunsaker is the 2nd book in the Fatal Instincts series, and my first book by this author. This book is a very short, only 44 pages, and a love story that I really enjoyed. I didn't realize it was so short when I requested a copy. I would have love more information/background on Jenny and Scott. I will be reading more books by this author. If you enjoy a quick love story, than I recommend this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Scott and Jenny unexpectedly meet at Seaglass Cottage and their lives are changed forever. Dreams of the Past is a short and heartwarming story about two people with uncertain futures who deserve happiness. They meet each other at a time when they are both feeling disconnected and alone and they help each other feel good again about their lives and themselves.

Jenny moves to Last Chance Beach after a tragedy leaves her questioning what she wants in life. She is hoping to get away and start anew, never expecting to meet someone like Scott. Scott is a Navy Seal on leave after being injured by an IED. He has come to Last Chance Beach to think about his life and decide what is next.

I found myself immediately immersed in this sweet story. Scott and Jenny are easy to like and relate to. They have both gone through some tough times and I wanted them to find their HEA. I recommend this story, it will leave you with a smile on your face.

Jenny Travers rented her godmother’s seaside cottage to recover from the murder of her abusive fiancé. She needs this time away, not knowing if she will ever be able to return to her home. Lieutenant Commander Scott Gordon, a U.S. Navy SEAL, has rented a seaside cottage to contemplate his future. After he was injured by an IED, he no longer has the leg strength needed for active duty. He finds the cottage already inhabited, by a beautiful young lady, what is he to do now? I had not read a previous story about these characters, but enjoyed this pleasant romance. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

The hero, Scott, is a Navy SEAL that got hurt on his last mission. He is blond, muscular and a good kisser. 🙂🥰😍💜❤️I might see Chris Hemsworth or William Karlsson in my mind. Jenny is a lucky girl. It is a short story but very emotional. I don't mind insta love if it is well done. 😉Now I need to find my own blond Navy SEAL. 😉Any of my american friends who know one?

Thank you NetGalley, Author Collective 20 and Laura Hunsaker for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
This short and sweet romance is the perfect palate cleanser after a heavier book! The length of this one means you can sit down and read it in one sitting, which I always love! While things do move quicker since it’s a short story, Laura Hunsake managed to keep things from feeling overly rushed or cheesy. I think that’s an issue I find the most distracting while reading novellas!
When Jenny finally gets out of an abusive relationship, she is left picking up the pieces of her life and starting over. She decides the thing she needs most is a solo vacation. She rents a beach cottage in hopes of some private relaxation. Scott is hurt by an IED that brings his SEAL career to a screeching halt. His life is at a crossroad as he tries to figure out where to go from here. He decides renting a cottage on the beach is the best thing for him. Neither of them expect to share their beach cottage, but neither of them want to give it up. As the small space is shared, feelings start to form and the chemistry becomes undeniable.

Jenny and Scott are both trying to escape from their past. Jenny's former abusive relationship ended with him being murdered by his cousin. Scott a former navy seal was injured whilst on duty. They end up being double booked into a holiday rental.

This is a short romantic instalove story but it is a jam packed story. I enjoyed the storyline. Although things happened quite quickly it didn't feel rushed. It did leave me wanting more. I loved it.
