The story of Poppy & Alex and how their friendship develops into love over the course of 12 years. The book flips between the past and the present, told by Poppy.

I found this book very slow paced and sometimes too slow for my enjoyment. Unfortunately, this for me made the story lack the passion and spark – it just didn’t hold me.

I mean what can I say.
Emily Henry has fucking done it again, good god woman what are you doing to us?
The depth of these characters, the relationship development 👌🏼
Just a beautiful, at times raw and sore exploration of emotion, friendship and complex feelings. A little beaut!

Did somebody say sexual tension?! This was so heartwarming and not at all what I was expecting but I loved every moment. I don’t often read books that make me want to pack a bag and go on a spontaneous holiday (I also recommend The Unhoneymooners for this!) but, PWMOV really did that for me! It tackles some heavier topics by the end but, is mostly just an exploration of the friends-to-lovers trope set in some amazingly described vacation spots!

Oh this was infinitely better than Beach Read for me. The friends to lover trope never fails to be a heartwarming one. We nearly got 2 in a bed thrown in for good measure. I do wish there was a little more exploration of their romantic relationship but maybe they will pop up in future novels as Easter eggs

THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!! I finished it in one day, hell, a matter of hours even. Absolutely loved it! Emily Henry strikes again.

Heartwarming, cute and a little bit spicy! Another great summer read! I loved the contemporary style of the storyline and think that Poppy and Alex were such fun characters. If you want a heartwarming romance to help you out of a reading slump - this is it.

Don't read this book for the title, or even the blurb, for that matter. Because that's not what you'll be getting in there!
This is the story of Poppy - and it's really the story 'of' Poppy that delves into all the details, superfluous or not, of her day-to-day life and how one specific relationship has weighed so much on her being who she is and going where she is going now.
And the voice of Poppy can be hit-or-miss, no middle way compromise there. Love her or hate her, there's no in between! It read a lot like the early 2000s chick-lit when the whole 'story' was an ongoing ramble about the heroine's life and every little thing that happens to her. If you enjoy that kind of vibe, then you'll love this - it felt very 'chick-lit' nostalgic to me, super-voice-driven, and as such, very immersive if you can take the voice and it doesn't grate on you
As such, this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if you enjoy old school chick lit, give this one a go

Well, this story completely wrapped me up in the Alex and Poppy’s lives. This book allowed me to experience the characters as they are in the present but also seeing how the past played its part in the here and now. Although I will admit it did take me a couple of chapters to get a feel for the switching of past to present. The reader is aware that something happened to upset Poppy and Alex’s friendship. So there is also a general mystery over what occurred, which of course had me intrigued.

Most of all though I loved the interactions between this pair especially the early vacations they spent together. Then as the book progressed I felt their connection even more. I’m not going to go into too much detail regarding the plot but I loved the fun and almost carefree feel that was on on the surface of this story. Then as I looked a little further and read on, both the characters and the story actually had a lot more depth. The characters had insecurities and issues that swirled around them. This all came together to give the story a much more rounded feel than what I was first expecting.

The pacing of the story was really good and it didn’t take me long at all to finish this book. I was rooting for the characters hoping they could get their happy ever after. Even though personality wise they were different they somehow worked as friends and maybe even something more. If the delicious sparks that fly between them were any proof.

You and Me on Vacation really is like a warm hug in a book. There is a definite Harry Met Sally vibe but Emily Henry put her own spin on it and made it her own!

This was so good, so close to being a 5 star read! Emily Henry's books get better each time I swear. I loved Poppy and Alex's friendship and their dynamic.

This was a very cute and easy summer read, perfect for by the pool or by the beach. I fell in love with the characters and will definitely be recommending this to friends this summer! Looking forward to discovering more of this author's books

This was so fun, and definitely an improvement on Beach Read. I love novels told through flashbacks so this was delightful.

I really enjoyed this one. It was a gorgeous, warm summer romance. I l love a friendship pending romance story and this was packed with travel, so perfect for summer getaways!

The book also switches from present to past and it makes it hard to put down. I did find it extremely emotional at times and you’re just wishing for the ultimate happy ending!

Can a guy and girl be "JUST FRIENDS", especially if the friendships runs as long as 12 years? Who knows? So whenever i hear the word "Vacation" with a pretty eye catching orange cover I am easy and sold on picking it up. Thats what happened here. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy the book as much as I enjoy VACATIONS.

First of all I didn't like the alternating timeline chapters in this book
Couldn't care about any of the characters and the writing was all over the place. I kept waiting to like this book and it didn't happen and it breaks my heart to say it but it disappointed me.

12 Years of a Platonic relationship and suddenly the Cupid arrow strikes and they fall in love and live happily ever after. I found it ludicrous.

Thank you NetGalley and the Publishers for giving me an opportunity to read this PRETTY COVER book.

Poppy and Alex are good friends they holiday every summer somewhere new. Normally something related to cheap travel for Poppy's blog or for her magazine column. Until one summer changes everything! Will they ever get back their summer trips? And will they ever be the same again?

I previously read Beach Read and absolutely loved it. So knew that I was jumping for any new Emily Henry books to come into my emails.

The concept of the story is great and had huge potential to be another 5/5 rom com to take us away into Alex and Poppy's world away from the atrocities happening in the world today. However unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. The story line itself was well thought out and something that I normally enjoy reading. However it felt very 2dimensional with no emotion put into any part of it. Even the scenes where you knew the characters would feel such high emotion. It was conveyed to the reader and felt like we were just walking around the supermarket with them.

Furthermore I found the book to have a slow and at times confusing start. Partly due to the jumping around to previous summers and then this summer for alternative chapters. Although towards the end you begin to get used to it because they read as individual stories and the time frame of how many years ago is irrelevant.

Also I felt that a lot was hidden from the reader about what happened to stop Alex and Poppy talking for so many years. You didn't find out until the last 10%. I wonder if this was explained at the beginning and made an emotional start whether the romance at the end would have felt more sensitive, important and would put you on the edge of your chair with suspense.

I found this book very hard to rate. What was given to the reader was solid and the books storyline had a lot of potential. However there remained parts where the reader is left wanting more of a backstory about their sudden change in relationship and that the whole of the story felt devoid of any emotional, suspense and left you feeling it was 2dimensional. Therefore I feel this book is a 2.5 Stars out of 5. As opposed to a solid amount stars.

There are no words to describe how much I enjoyed reading this book. The angst and the romance and the swoon. I just loved it all and will read anything this author writes in the future. An y little crumb, I'm there.

Another hit for a favourite author now. This one was even more enjoyable for me than her debut novel. I loved the characters and their interaction much more and it added much more complexity to the overall story.
Beautiful romance that many readers will enjoy .
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

I’ve come to realise this author is not for me! And I know I’m an outlier. I read a few chapters, but could not get into the story. Thanks for the chance.

You and Me on Vacation was a highly anticipated read for me and it did not disappoint!

I loved the two main characters in this book, and I especially loved the best friend too - she was so cool! I really enjoyed reading about Alex and Poppy’s yearly holidays and was eager to find out what went wrong. Poppy was a really brilliant character for me and her character development was very important.

My reason for 4 stars is that it didn’t WOW me like a 5 star read would, but I’m very critical about giving out 5 stars!

BEACH READ is up there with one of my next reads!

Overall, this was a very fun read. It gave me serious wanderlust vibes, reading it when I couldn't go on holiday anywhere. Friends to lovers is not my favourite trope (much prefer a good old enemies to lovers) but this was still done well and I felt a good connection with the characters. Of course, with the back and forth chapters over the years, you do know where the story is going but that is kind of always the case with romantic reads. We aren't reading them to be shocked when people get together. I wouldn't say I enjoyed this as much as Beach Read, but it still did live up to my now high expectations of Emily Henry.
