I love Peter Swanson. I have read and loved every book he has written. Every Vow you Break is no exception. Dark domestic noir at its finest. Brilliant. Highly recommended xx

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year. I was kindly given an ARC by NetGalley in return for an honest review. I have loved Peter Swanson’s previous work and was excited to see what this was like.

Abigail is soon to be married to Bruce. At her bachelorette party she sleeps with someone else in a “one for the road” moment.

And that’s when this book lost me completely.

For no reason at all Bruce was a completely different person that Abigail seemed to accept.

Throw in a unexplained cult, no electricity honeymoon and a frankly ridiculous lack of detail and that’s the book.

Hugely disappointing, very different to his other work.

I have loved most of Peter Swanson's books and Eight Perfect Murders was one of my favourite reads of 2020, so I was very excited to have my request to read Every Vow You Break accepted. Abigail Baskin marries millionaire Bruce Lamb after a drunken one night stand with a stranger at her bachelorette party. However, the stranger reappears in her life both before the wedding and on her honeymoon on a remote, off the grid island. I love the way that Swanson writes, he completely pulls you into the story and I read this over the course of a day. It is a real page turner and I was desperate to reach the end. Unfortunately I found the premise of this story completely unbelievable and it descended into farce by the end. I'd still recommend if you are looking for an easy, escapist read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a digital ARC.

This was a spectacular ride of lies and betrayal, focusing on a young bride whose one indiscretion blows up spectacularly and extremely ominously. Highly recommended!

This was an exciting read and I did enjoy it even though I found it a little too hard to believe. I enjoy Peter Swanson’s writing style and although this book was a good read it did lack a few twists and turns to make it a much better read.

Abigail Baskin quickly falls in love with millionaire Bruce Lamb, whatever was the attraction and they fly to an exclusive retreat at a friend’s resort off the Maine coast on Heart Pond Island. On getting to the Island, Abigail recognises one of the fellow guests as a stranger she recently met at her own Bachelorette party and was seduced by.

Enjoyable read but lacked the usual Peter Swanson magic.

I would like to thank both Netgalley and Faber and Faber for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Excellent read.
Abigail Baskin never thought she’d fall in love with a millionaire. Then she met Bruce Lamb. He’s a good guy, stable, level-headed, kind—a refreshing twist from her previous relationships.
But right before the wedding, Abigail has a drunken one-night stand on her bachelorette weekend. She puts the incident—and the sexy guy who wouldn’t give her his real name—out of her mind, and now believes she wants to be with Bruce for the rest of her life.
Then the mysterious stranger suddenly appears—and Abigail’s future life and happiness are turned upside down. He insists that their passionate night was the beginning of something much, much more. Something special. Something real—and he’s tracked her down to prove it.
It was a rollercoaster ride.
Thanks to NetGalley and Faber and Faber for giving me an advanced copy of this book.
