The only character in this book who was really interesting - Adrian who is a yoga and fitness fanatic and had a difficult childhood to say the least.

The book never got going for me as I was waiting for some mystery and/or romance, but I had to wait a long time. Luckily, the writing was superb and for that the book scrapes in to 4 stars.

Thanks to Net Galley for the chance to read and review.

This is my first book by Nora Roberts and I must confess myself to have been very disappointed with it.

Adrian is a yoga and fitness fanatic and would appear to have few other facets to her character - although she does really enjoy pushing her fitness mantra on to her friends and generally ordering them about. I found her difficult to like or engage with, to say the least. The supporting characters, meanwhile, felt decidedly bland.

I found the plot of this book dull and lacking momentum. The novel is a bizarre blend of romance and suspense, but for me doesn't succeed in either aim. There's no tension to be had here. I also felt that there was too much dialogue, much of it inconsequential.

There are enough four and five star reviews of this book to suggest that the problem here lies with me, rather than the author. Legacy just isn't my kind of thing and that's OK.

Those new to Nora Roberts are perhaps best to introduce themselves to her with another of her books, rather starting here. Nora Roberts fans will, I suspect, enjoy this book far more than I did.

An easy read combining a thriller and romance. The mystery part doesn’t really pick up until the second part of the book and I found it a little overlong and repetitive at times

I love Nora Roberts books and this one was no exception! The characters, the settings, the mystery, everything. I would definitely recommend to everyone I know and already cannot wait for her next one.

'The first time Adrian met her father was the day he tried to kill her..'

I am always fascinated by how Nora Roberts writes so many books each year and every book she writes is filled with characters that suck you into their world and make you absolutely invested in their lives. ‘Legacy’, Roberts’ latest standalone novel, has all the ingredients for an engaging thriller. The book opens with a dramatic, shocking episode that shapes the lives of Lina Rizzo and her young daughter, Adrian. Roberts superbly hooks you with the opening chapter and you become fully immersed in the life of young Adrian from her childhood right through to adulthood. Adrian grows up to be a successful young businesswoman, just like her mother. But every year she receives threatening poems from an anonymous writer. What Adrian doesn’t know is that the poet is someone who is determined to make her suffer.

One of the qualities that I most enjoy with Roberts’ writing is how she effortlessly moves through the lives of her characters, often leaping forward years at a time, but never allowing the reader to lose their interest in the characters’ development and progress. It has all the components a reader needs to keep their attention- mystery, suspense, engaging characters and a bit of romance to top it all off. Roberts’ smooth writing style and amazing descriptive powers pulls you into the story and it’s so difficult to leave the book down! Plenty of twists and turns in this book to keep the heart rate up (along with the budding romance between Adrian and someone from her childhood- I won’t give any clues away!)

‘Legacy’ is an engaging and immersive read. Thoroughly enjoyable and I would definitely recommend it for a weekend read.

Legacy had me hooked from the first chapter and it did not let go. I loved the characters, I love Nora Roberts writing style and I did not want to put it down. It has everything I expect from Nora Roberts (I have read everything she has written), it has romance, but not too much, it's a thriller and I found it had some unexpected events which genuinely made me cry as I wasn't expecting them.
I highly recommend Legacy.

This book is not my first read from the author, i knew her works and i was excited to receive this through netgalley, thank you!
Overall a great read,a combination of mystery -thriller and romance. I gave 4 stars because at the beginning it ws a bit difficult for me to divebin the subject, lots of characters and descripions of people and places,of actions was a bit confusing and geting me tired trying to let my self cought into the subject
But second part of the book had great elements of reveal and mystery, gave a great drive and dynamic so at the end of the book i already forgot what a difficult start it was. Overall i liked it and i woul recommend it as a vacay read, when youd like something good and from a good known author.

Story 2.5 stars
I'm a bit torn with this book. It took me a really long time to get into it. Usually I start an audio book and I will finish it in 1 session, 2 Max but this one I stopped and started 4 times within a space of two week.
At first it was a bit too fluffy for me. Kind of felt like I was reading Danielle Steel (who I do not enjoy) but the second half of the book was quite engaging.
So basically I didn't like this book, probably won't recommend it but also didn't dislike it. Just feel very nothing about about it.

**due to low rating I will not be leaving a public review for this as I did not pay for it**

Adrian Rizzo is young and successful woman, despite all childhood issues, always absent mother and non-existent father. Until one day she receives a death threat note and everything changes.

The story slowly unwinds, Nora Roberts's style all over. Romance meets thriller. Many characters and many interesting lives and (too) many details.

However, great read for this particular mixed genre.

This was my first book by Nora Roberts and I had heard good reviews of her. I listened to the audio book version read by January LaVoy who did a very good job having different voices for each character, bringing the story to life. I also read the book too and found it good as I was able to extract more detail from my own reading of it.

The story unfolds around Adrian, the main female character, and her complex relationship with her mother. It follows her life and that of her family and friends over a number of years. In the mix is the poems she has been receiving from her teenage days. It is a story of relationships, love, family and suspense all rolled into one.

I did enjoy Legacy although at times I got lost between the back stories and past and present time with the audio version. It had me hooked at the start but then my interest waned after the first third however it picked up pace again towards the end and I was keen to hear how it ended. Everything comes together in the end. I found it an enjoyable listen but preferred reading it myself as Nora Roberts has a very intricate way of describing everything in detail.

Have read a few of Nora Roberts books both murder and romantic but can`t decide what genre this book is supposed to be as no romance till 72% of the way through and a murder over 80% through, it`s as if she couldn`t decide what to write so throw both in and see what sticks.
Some sentences seem as if words are missing and don`t make sense.
One minute it`s in the present next sentence its the past which I found confusing.
None of the people were likeable, so in a nutshell a very disjointed book.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my opinion.

Nora Roberts never disappoints!
A thriller mixed with romance .... a recipe for a great read.
The story romps along at a great pace with twists and turns along the way.
I thoroughly recommend this book.

This is my first Nora Roberts read, I’m an avid ‘In Death’ reader but have never before read anything under the author’s own name. To be perfectly honest I was a little disappointed. The writing is great, as I would expect but the characters are all too perfect / happy / well off - I think this is more about me than anyone else but I like to have something to get my teeth into, a bit of struggle, some quirky characters, basically some flaws and there really wasn’t any. And the book itself was very long, unnecessarily so in my opinion. I think because it was so long it lost the tension building which is key in this type of novel.

So, yes, not my cup of tea.

Adrian's life has been anything but normal. The father she never knew tried to kill her the first time he met her, her mother is distant and engrossed in her career and she has an obsessed fan sending her terrifying poems. The only place that ever felt like home was with her grandparents and the restaurant that was the corner stone of the town. As she grows into a woman that has her own hopes and dreams something happens that makes her reevaluate everything and make some life altering decisions that may just be the best thing that ever happened to her. It's a wonderful tale of family, friends, good food, exercise and a past that won't let go. I enjoyed every single minute of it!

Engaging and immersive romance meets simmering thriller. Adrian has a strained relationship with her celebrity mother and wants to make a life for herself, free from her mother's shadow. In doing so, she discovers what is really important to her, develops lifelong friendships, and realises she must also deal with the downsides of fame. The book is quite lengthy as it luxuriates in the great relationships and sense of community Adrian builds. A very enjoyable read.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a digital ARC in return for my honest review.

It’s been many years since I read a book by this author and that’s my loss.
Brilliant writing that you settle into immediately. This book worked for me on two dimensions. On one it was an engaging read of family and friends, loves, loss , joys and loyalties, against the added backdrop of a sinister murder mystery. We join Adrian at the tender age of seven, when she meets her father for the first and only time, as he tries to kill her. We follow her privileged, if early lonely, life and see her mature, following her and her friend’s and family’s stories. All the while, she’s receiving death treats in the form of poems. Great story with an explosive conclusion and a beautiful ending.

Wow, I really loved this book. The main character Adrian Rizzo, was abused by her biological father when she was seven years old, which resulted in her being sent to her grandparent's house for the summer, so that she could heal away from all the stress. Her mother, Lina, needed time to sort things out after she killed the father in self defense, while protecting Adrian. Adrian had a great time in Maryland with her grandparents and she made some new friends, one being a boy called Raylan.

Lina went on to build up her own brand of a yoga and fitness business and then later in life, Adrian followed in her footsteps and created the same. After meeting up with Raylan in the following years, it was interesting to see how their relationship moved forwards.

Adrian was plagued by death threats and evil poems that someone kept sending her over the years. I was excited to keep reading the book to find out who was behind it all.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book, the story, the suspense, the romance, the families and all of the emotions that were brought forth.

Nora Roberts is a wonderful storyteller and is very good at describing all of the characters and even the places and buildings in the story. It felt so real, like I was inside the book, since she is such a great author. I will look out for more of her work, now that I know how great she is at writing!

Many thanks to Nora, her publisher and Net Galley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Nora Roberts standalone and I really enjoyed it! The book starts with a shocking opening that sets up a mystery/thriller but then it swiftly moves into a character-driven drama. I’ve always heard Roberts is an expert in character-building, and this book proves her well, as we get to know each character in-depth. It is a slow paced book, which I don’t really mind, because it kept me interested until the end. Although the suspense/thriller part is smaller than I expected the author does a great job building it up as the story develops.
