So Loved this book. It takes me back to one of her early novels The Villa. This is Adrian Rizzo's story from .her emotionally distant mother, the death of her unacknowledged father and the stalker who writes poems to her throughout her life.
Through Adrian is written about throughout the book its not all one sided. she has long lasting friendships and the story reveals their growth in careers, love and marriage.
There is even an up to date tragedy that is really well handled and written with sensitivity..
The twist and turns will make any Nora Roberts reader happy..

The synopsis for Legacy really drew me in, a mix of romance and suspense. I felt disheartened that I didn't like it more than I did as I have always heard amazing things about Nora Roberts. The style of writing I really enjoyed and thought the descriptions created a vivid imagery. There were far too many interludes focusing on Adrian's workouts or how one of the many (I lost count) side characters managed to achieve the impossible of their life-long dream. This really dragged the story out for me and I didn't think added much to it; there was a lot of focus on family (as opposed to romance/thriller) and the story falls more into Women's Fiction for me. Frustratingly, the pace was quite varied throughout the story, sometimes really slow and other times too fast. This was especially seen with the romance which, in particular is lacking, going from 0 - 100. I found the last quarter of the book much more engaging, particularly Rachael's chapters.

Although this is my first Nora Roberts book, it will not be my last and I am intrigued to read others.

Adrian was raised by her mother Lina who owns the Billion-dollar Baby Yoga empire. Selling DVDs and streaming videos online, they also had their own yoga clothing business too. She never knew her father until she was seven when he tried to kill her mother.
When Adrian is a teenager in school, she starts her own yoga business with some friends. It becomes very lucrative. But someone is jealous and starts sending poems that are death threats to her. She reports them to the police, but they just file them. As the person who sends them hasn’t acted on them until Adrian becomes and adult and finds out that it is linked to her dad who was a womanizer and the women, he had affairs with now ended up dead. This story is also Adrian and her relationship with a high school sweetheart.
Thanks, NetGalley and Little brown for a copy of Legacy by Nora Roberts. This is my first book from the author that I have read and trying to broaden my horizons by trying new authors. So, I was interested to see how this story pans out.
The first part of this book I was fully engaged in and I felt that it was more a love story than a thriller. But unfortunately for me personally I found this story to drag on and I thought it was way to long. Some of it I thought unnecessary that I ended up skimming quickly the last third of the book. 3 stars from me.

I am a relatively new reader of Nora Roberts but from what I have read from her so far I have really enjoyed. I was looking forward to this new release but sadly I didn't enjoy this one and I was left feeling disappointed.

When Adrian was younger the first time she met her father he was killed by her mother in order to stop him from harming her. Years later Adrian is running a successful workout video company but she keeps receiving death threats. In a bid to escape the mysterious letters she moves back to the small town where she lived with her grandparents.

The synopsis for this book sounded really intriguing however it fell flat for me. I found that the story moved very slowly and I didn't feel engaged with the story. The mystery/suspense element of the booking didn't really grab me and the romance element didn't work for me as I didn't feel any chemistry between the characters.

Overall I was disappointed with this book and didn't really enjoy it. I will however continue to read future books from this author.

I do love a Nora Roberts thriller for good writing and pure escapism. This book captured both but lacked the pace that is normally associated with her books. A strong, female heroine was crafted in Adrian with modern, independent values. A dreamy, idyllic country town setting was in keeping with the mood of the story. The thriller aspect would have benefited from being ramped up earlier in the book. The premise behind the threats to Adrian was original as one would expect from Nora Roberts

If there is one thing you can say about a Nora Roberts book ,it's that they are never predictable. Ms Roberts writes several different genres of books. This book, Legacy, is the style of book I prefer from the Author. It is a mixture of family drama, romantic novel and thriller. What more could you want from a book?

The characters are very well written and the main protagonist, Adrian, is very likeable, and luckily hasn't inherited any of her Mothers "Cold" traits. The relationships between various characters are developed extremely well, and you end up feeling immersed into their lives.

The Author leads you on many twists and turns. Who is sending Adrian Death Threats on an annual basis? She knows the threats are going to arrive in the mail, but doesn't know who is sending them and why. You are kept guessing until the very end.

Another great read from Ms Roberts and I will certainly read more of her books in this style.

I've been a massive fan of Nora Roberts for years now, she is one of my go to authors when I want a book that is immersive and I can never put them down once started . This book did not disappoint either.
The characters are relatable and situations believable , she creates storylines you can't fail to become invested in and you really connect with Adrian and her friends . I especially loved the relationship between her and her Grandparents.
Raylan was an interesting love interest for Adrian and their chemistry sizzles as they slowly drift from friends to lovers as attraction stirs between them.
Sadie and Jasper were an inspired canine love storyline that was fun to read .
I really enjoyed this book and thoroughly recommend it

Very firmly aimed at American readers, this book was more of a chore for a British reviewer - the language and idiom made it rather heavy going. The story centres around the relationship between young Adrian and her mother Lina, both of whom are driven and uncompromising in their parallel careers. There is a great deal of dialogue here, and much of it felt like padding, not adding anything much to the narrative and making it difficult to follow at times. I’m sure this will be enjoyed by many readers ‘across the pond’ but was not the one for me.

A Nora Roberts book never disappoints. Family, friends, work ethic and troubles. They are all in the mix but with parts that made me cry, others made me smile and laugh out loud. Don't want to spoil the story but the female central character is relatable as she grows up from a young child through to adulthood. The friends she makes along life's journey are true, flawed and loyal. The tension builds towards the end of book and a fitting ending ties up all the loose ends in a more than satisfactory manner.
I personally would like a follow-up with the kids growing up and having their own stories if Nora would like any suggestions.

Nora Roberts draws the reader in from the very start with her great stories and varied characters. The warmth of those characters and the interactions between them continues throughout. An engrossing and enjoyable read.

This is first time I read Nora Roberts book. I really enjoyed the characters but I felt like I got bit lost with what the plot was about. I ended up skipping some pages just to get past the chatting bits with her friends. I would say it had much suspense in it. I felt like the story was going on to much. I think the story could be bit shorter. I still would read more of Nora Roberts books but I was bit disappointed with this one.

I really enjoyed this book. It's Adrian's story, from when she first, disastrously, meets her Dad as a little girl, all through the years as she grows up, sets up her business, and works out what she wants in life.

It's a slow gentle tale, moving through her cool relationship with her mother, to her very warm relationship with her grandparents and her strong relationship with her friends, who she begins her fitness channel with. It also charts her slowly developing relationship with her friend turned lover, and his children.

It's gentle that is except for her stalker, who we know - although Adrian doesn't - is also murdering women. In the last section of the book when the stalker closes in, the pace picks up considerably and although there's no surprise revelation about who the stalker is, it's still quite exciting as that part of the story comes to a conclusion.

My only quibble is that like the heroine, a former, male boss of mine was also called Adrian, which I found jarring!

Another great story from Nora Robert’s.

I am a huge fan of Nora already so was super excited when I was accepted for an ARC of this book and I was not disappointed.

From that first line, I was invested in Adrians story. I loved her character, flaws and all and became invested in her journey quite quickly.

The plot was never boring and never overwhelming. With so many great characters it would be hard not to enjoy this story. I found myself saying “just one more chapter” every night until I devoured the book.

Every character brought something to Adrians journey and I wanted to know more about them. They all felt believable.

Although there was no surprise in the baddie, I didn’t mind this as it was interesting seeing the characters put it together, also.

I definitely will recommend this book and have already preordered a copy for my sister - another big Nora fan.

Unsurprisingly absolutely excellent. Nora Roberts always writes taut, well-plotted novels, high in suspense and romance, with excellent characterisation. This book was largely no exception, though I thought the pace was slower, broken up over parts. I honestly liked this though, and am glad Roberts is still willing to try different approaches to her books this far into her very well established career. What made this a real standout though was the relationship between the protagonist Adrian and her mother - complicated, not always straightforward, it felt very real, and took place within the kind of community Roberts writes best - one that feels very real but also has a warm heart.

As usual a great read by one of my favourite authors. You always know what you’re getting with a Nora Roberts book, an interesting story, a strong female character, and a bit of suspense thrown in, and this was just that, and even though her books run on similar lines they’re just so readable.

The main character of this book was Adrian (female), unusual spelling as this is usually a male name - at least in the UK - but the real stars of the book were the two dogs, Sadie & Jasper, such really funny, faithful, fearless characters who were such wonderful heroes at the end too (and I have to add no dogs died!).

Adrian is the daughter of Lina, a single mother and famous yoga teacher, who has increased her ‘brand’ over the years but to the detriment of being with her daughter as she was always flying around the world and wasn’t a very hands-on mother. But did what she thought best for Adrian, at least money-wise. Once Adrian is old enough she strikes out on her own and starts her own brand of exercise/yoga videos etc. With the help of a group of ‘geeks’ from school, who end up being lifelong friends, following a similar path to her mother, but in her own way.

Adrian is a lot more family orientated than her mother though, and spends a lot of time with her grandparents in their lovely home and restaurant in Travelers Creek over the years. They were always there for her, especially during an especially hard time when she was young when her biological father attacked Adrian and her mother in their house.

The story follows them over the years, along with the suspense of who is sending Adrian threatening poems over many years. We also have the love interest, Raylan (brother of Adrian's best friend), popping up here and there at the beginning of the book and, through a tragedy, he also ends up living in Travelers Creek, along with Adrian and other friends who move there as their lives evolve and priorities are changed as children come in to the mix.

Of course there’s the usual suspense running through the story, which keeps things interesting, and eventually a lovely ending. I do love Nora Roberts, you just can’t go wrong with picking one of her books up.

This isn’t my usual type of book, that’s definitely not to say I didn’t enjoy it!

This is a fun book, don’t expect much suspense or too much of a twist but it certainly was light and airy with added rescue dogs1

A classic Nora Roberts romantic thriller. It tells the story of Adrian Rizzo from the age of 7 years onwards, and is very much a female-centric book. The book is divided into 3 sections, with the thriller part of it is more prominent in the last section. Adrian's character is shown as strong, decisive and a little bit of a know-it-all. She has a self-made, rich mother who is busy with her business, which means Adrian's upbringing is left to a nanny, grandparents and other friends of the family. Once she starts on her own career, she starts receiving death-threat poems on every Valentine's day (although why Valentine's day? I never understood the reason for that!)

I enjoyed reading it, and a Nora Roberts book rarely disappoints but given the length of the book, would have preferred for other characters in the book to have been somewhat more than two-dimensional caricatures, especially Adrian's close friends. The storyline, flow and characters in this book all have pieces from Nora's other previous books. Overall, this a nice summer holiday read.

A new author for me, a well written book which I enjoyed. For me personally it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat, nor was it a page turner but it was a good book with interesting characters.

When the first line of a book is "The first time Adrian Rizzo met her father, he tried to kill her", you know you are about to read something which will set off a rollercoaster of emotions.
The story centres around a girl/woman (Adrian Rizzo) who starts to receive death threats just before her 17th birthday. Due to having a famous mother ( who also, receives un-nerving 'fan' mail) they decide to inform the relevant authorities and just ignore the threats.... bad idea.
One of the things I like about Nora Roberts books is how she slowly builds up the tension and cleverly drops hints and small clues so, by the time you are in the second half of the book you are not only hooked (literally could not put it down) but, are racing through the pages to find out what happens next. Liar and Obsession (to name but two others) are very similar in that the story builds until there is a real 'Wow' moment.
Amongst the tension are true gems of family life, friendships, love and humour. The way the children are described ( I love Phineas) and the dialogue between friends and family is beautiful.
I thoroughly recommend this book and will be surprised if it does not make you laugh, gasp and cry in equal measure.
