As a fan of the Netflix TV show that is based on these books, I went into this third instalment having only seen the TV show. And that probably wasn't my wisest move.
Whilst the TV show has been following the same direction as the books, this starts at a later point to where we are at the end of the second season of the TV show.
So it took me a bit of time and a tiny bit of research by reading synopsises of the earlier books to get up to speed with where I needed to be.
I was used to the second person narrative so reading the book from Joe's perspective was interesting and has you feeling more sympathetic for him than you really should be.
But this just didn't have the shocking moments or twists that I was expecting.
I have to say, things are much more exciting and interesting when he is killing than when he is trying to be 'the good guy'.
And if you've read the books this will no doubt be a much easier continuation.
But I think I'll be sticking to the TV show going forward.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third instalment in the ‘You’ series and picks up where Hidden Bodies left off. I won’t go in to detail to keep this spoiler free! But it’s safe to say Joe is up to his old tricks again and has his sights on a new target, however this one is different to his usual as she is a mother and older than him.

I found this to be quite slow, and didn’t feel that there was as much going on as in the other books. There weren’t as many shocking moments and not that many twists. Having said that I did enjoy it, but I am hoping season three of the series picks up the pace a bit.

This is written in second person again which I think adds to the stalkerish nature of Joe’s personality. It’s also very clever how the author gets you to like and root for a character like Joe despite everything he has done!

This was more of a domestic drama rather than a psychological thriller, overall I enjoyed but would have loved it if there was a bit more action!

I am really sorry to say that I really struggled with this book. I think it could be because I haven’t read the first two books so wasn’t used to the writing style, which I just couldn’t get used to. I think as I came from the Netflix show rather than the previous books I just couldn’t tally the two together in my mind and just couldn’t get on with the book. I am more disappointed in myself than the book as it’s definitely a problem with how my mind works than the book it self.

Boom another great instalment with the lovely creepy Joe 😂 haha you can’t help but love him can you? I love the “YOU” series and this didn’t change with the 3rd book, I cant wait to see what my favourite stalker gets up to next 🙈 I hope he never changes, he keeps life interesting that’s for sure!

Another addition to the "You" collection. This was worth the wait to get back into the world of Joe but unfortunately not as enjoyable as the others which I have given 5 stars in the past. The ending felt a little rushed and a bit convoluted but as unrealistic as it was, it definitely feels like it could happen to Joe!

Definitely worth the read if you have kept up with the previous books

Joe is done with the city....and sadly I think I'm done with Joe.

You was a great book, Hidden Bodies was OK but this just feels sort of unnecessary and sometimes left me feeling...well a bit icky. I think I went into this book hoping he would finally get his just desserts....and (spoiler alert) in some ways he does. But Joe is a slippery weasel and instead continues to be painted as a sympathetic psycho....even an accidental one.

This is by no means a bad book. It's just a continuation too far.

😊 You Love Me is Caroline Kepnes' latest psychological thriller and an awesome and exhilarating read in her "You" series. Razor-sharp, dark and addictive, I didn't want to put this down. I was kept up until the early hours of the morning desperate to read just one more chapter. Absolutely brilliant, shocking but incredibly entertaining. 😊

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Simon and Schuster via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Wow this was fun! I havent read the first two books but have watched the shows and was excited to read this book. I found it was written really weirdly from his perspective, with him often repeating speech in his mind. I found this quite hard to get used to but once I did get used to it, it was really enjoyable. I’ve heard it was softer than the other books- Joe was too nice but it was nice to see some character progression

Joe Goldberg is back! This book is slightly different to the others, Joe is determined to not kill anyone and be a 'good guy' after his relationship with Love Quinn has dissipated and he was paid off by the family to never see his son. And to his credit, he kind of sticks to it in his pursuit of Mary Kay, a librarian in the town he moves to, even though he faces a lot of problems in the form of overbearing best friend and a terrible husband. Granted a lot of things still happen and he is definitely still the Joe we have come to know and love but he is trying! A lot of obstacles are thrown his way and he overcomes a lot and still seems to come out on top but he faces a new challenge in trying to win Mary Kay's heart, making a new family with her and her daughter, and be happy once and for all.
An excellent 3rd book in the series that had me constantly wondering what was going to happen next!

Absolutely love the previous two in this series, so was positively ecstatic when I got hold of this one to read. It 100% lived up to the anticipation, and loved another trip back into the world of Joe Goldberg. He's one of the most polarising, sinister, yet compelling narrators I've ever come across, and Caroline Kepnes is firmly on the "I'll read whatever she writes" pile.

I finished this just over a week ago and really had to think about how I felt in regards to the story. On one hand it was so good to be back with Joe! On the other hand, I felt a bit disheartened that there wasn't much of the Joe we know and "love" as he seemed to be trying to be good!

The third installment in the You series, felt like stepping into a comfy pair of slippers. We have come to expect a certain type of behaviour from Joe and I was so excited to see the lengths he would go to this time, in the name of love.

The way Kepnes words Joe's calculations and justifications for his behaviour, really causes me to feel for him and sometimes say "I can see why he may think that." The writing is something that keeps me coming back even though I constantly say, it is just a man stalking a woman in each book.

It is really interesting to see the journey of Joe trying to be good but honestly, I wanted a bit more from the book. It felt like the excitement had gone because he is trying to build a new life for himself. There were also a few questions I felt the book raised which didn't get answered.

Overall, I found it easy to put down and not pick up for long periods of time and as much as I enjoyed the previous two books, I think that this is a situation where I like the series more than the books.

Joe is back at it again. This time he has taken a volunteer position at a library on Bainbridge Island where he meets fellow librarian Mary Kay Di Marco.

DNF at 15%. While I love the idea of this writing style, the protagonist/stalker talking directly to his love interest/victim, it does take a bit of getting used to. Unfortunately, the first 15% wasn't gripping enough for me to stick around and get caught up in it. However, being able to hear Joe's creepy inner dialogue works really well on-screen, so I'm happy that the author is continuing with his story. Even as the show-runners deviate from her story-line I'm sure they will be inspired by it.

Not a bad book, just not the book for me right now.

I'd just like to say thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

I was sceptical about a 3rd book, but Caroline Kepnes know what she does, and does it well! Again you are rooting for the bad guy, convinced that the questionable things are 'not his fault' and that he's 'a changed man'. So entertaining, I was wondering every step of the way what was going to make him 'snap' or which part of his past would sneak up to bite him? It was really gripping!

Some bits made me laugh out loud (powdering the nose) and others made me gasp. Kepnes had me on my seat wondering if Joe is going to get the happy ending even though he doesn't deserve really deserve it, but there were so many obstacles for him so I accidentally felt sorry for him.

It got to about 3/4 through and things were looking perfect and I knew 'something' was going to happen, and I definitely didn't expect that ending. Now I need a 4th book because my boy Joe simply cannot catch a break.

I had been eagerly waiting the third book in the You series. I absolutely loved Joe Goldberg, in some strange odd ways I feel I can relate to him. He's such an odd but charismatic guy!

In You Love Me we  follow Joe and his life after Love from Hidden Bodies. This time he will not obsess, he will win the heart of Mary Kay the old fashioned way: being a friend, a shoulder to cry on, a listening ear. That doesn't mean he won't play a little game or two to make things unravel, to speed things up, to say a word or so in an unsuspecting ear.

It was great to be back with Joe in yet another new town, although I did miss his wonderfully stalkerish behaviour. I couldn't help but picture Penn Badgley throughout. Anyone else?

As usual, the writing was impeccable and descriptive. I loved getting inside Joe's head once more, reading his thoughts and generally agreeing with him! Should I be worried? 🤔

However this book did take a more sedate route to the first two books. I'd love to see a fourth book with Joe as the character we all loved to hate. I'm here for it!

I didn't read the other books but I saw the series on Netflix and I'm thinking of reading them as I liked the style of writing and the character development.
This book kept me hooked and turning pages enjoying the twists and turns.
Joe is a villain you cannot help liking and the author did an excellent job in developing him.
Excellent storytelling, plot and character development.
An entertaining and exciting story that I recommend.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Joe Goldberg strikes again, a changed man... or is he?

Caroline Kepnes has done it again, this is by far my favourite instalment in the 'You' series and I'm so incredibly excited to see what's going to come next in Joe Goldberg's story. This book was all things I wanted in a thriller, it was intense, kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat the entire time, I was just dying to know what was going to happen in this next chapter.

I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Joe Goldberg remains an intoxicating character to read about, but I definitely preferred him when he was killing people. His 'good guy' act just seemed to dull his personality a little.
MK wasn't a character I felt any connection to, and while Joe's obsession of her was somewhat believeable, the whole thing was just so tame compared to Beck or Love. It meant that the surrounding characters were more exciting to read about than MK and Joe. I understand the story needs to progress but I just want the old Joe back!
I think it's definitely time to re-watch the TV series, but as for the books, the sequels are just lackluster compared to the first book. This one is worth a read just to see what happens next for Joe, but, with the exception of the first book, I prefer the TV show. Sorry.

I haven’t read the first two books but watched the Netflix series, both seasons and I must admit that I loved the movies and how the adaptation was. Because of that , I think my expectations were set quite high for You love me .
While Joe is the same psych that you hate but love and he has a new love interest along with all the twisted moments that are expected from the story, I must say that I was a bit disappointed in parts of it. But that’s just me and my beliefs that each hyped book is usually so good that I am going to love as well.
I am looking forward to see this one on screen though because it’s as compelling and interesting that will definitely be another hit for everyone.

*Thanks to NetGalley/Simon & Schuster UK for providing a copy of this book!*

Oh Joe. I don't know how you do it but you still have a hold over me. I just can't help but love you. But that's what you want isn't it, just for someone to love you?

And now I've stopped talking to Joe, I'll get on with the rest of it! With Joe swapping big city life for small island life, I didn't think Kepnes could make this series any better but she's knocked out it of the park yet again.*

Once again we meet characters with hidden secrets, and once again Joe captures them under his spell, as well as making his enemies..

There were a couple of twists that I didn't see coming until right before they happened, but then thinking back it was so obvious. This is also something a little different to the other two books, but I'm not going to say in what way..

I love Kepnes' style of writing with this series, it's just so captivating and keeps you hanging on for more.

I couldn't help myself comparing to the TV series though and wondering how season 3 is going to play out considering how book 2 and season 2 ended!

*With potential for the story to continue even more..

First of all I would like to thank Netgalley for a copy of this book in return for a review.
I was so excited to read this book after watching the series on Netflix. I hadn't read the initial books so I didn't know the writing style but from the series I had fully fallen for Joe Goldberg and his sociopathic tendencies!
Sadly I was left feeling a little disappointed after this book. It just didn't have the same level of excitement I felt watching the series. I was constantly on the edge of my seat with the first two instalments hoping he wouldn't get caught but with the book he just felt a little lacklustre.
Joe's character didn't seem as likeable in the book, he just seemed creepy. Although I know he is a thinker and everything is his perspective it didn't translate well for me into the writing and just felt overly wordy. His love interest was not the strongest of characters, I couldn't understand the fascination with her. I felt she needed a bit more oomph as the previous ladies he was drawn to seemed quite strong in comparison.
I also fell out with the writing style a little as his constant use of nicknames "rat" "meerkat" "lemonhead" just became a little trite by the end.
There were some redeeming qualities, I liked Nomis character she reminded me of Deliiahs daughter in the second story. I enjoyed his sneaky acts to try and get under Phils skin and the end few twists I didn't see coming, that was a clever upward turn, but overall it just didn't excite me I am sad to say.
