I'm not really sure why The Serial Killer's Wife has been on my TBR for so long. I've read books by Alice Hunter before, under her other name, and loved them and this was no different. I'm glad the new TV series gave me the nudge I needed to finally read it. It's right up my street, it's fast paced, I couldn't trust anyone and there are so many twists.

The Serial Killer's Wife has very short chapters, which are each narrated by a different character. This means we get to know the characters and we start to see the cracks in the façades that they present to the world. The story is intriguing and I really wanted to find out what secrets they were hiding. As always with first person narrators, there's a chance they may not be telling the truth and I was very wary of all the characters.

Alice Hunter has plotted The Serial Killer's Wife really carefully, and she ensures that each reveal happens at just the right time for maximum impact. I will admit that I did guess some of the twists, but there were others that left me really surprised. I'll be thinking about the ending for a while!

I know that there are further novels in the Serial Killer series and I am interested to see what Alice Hunter does next!

Well ding dang! I couldn’t sleep until I finished this and now I don’t know if I can sleep again. Not because this was horror film scary but more psychologically scary. Thank god I’m married because I would never date again.

This book has been on my shelves for a while now (well the whole series) and I think just due to the amount of books that I have, I have put it off. That was a mistake
The book is very character driven rather than plot. we quickly learn in the first few chapters that Tom has been arrested on suspicion of murder. We then follow his with Beth, on how she Is dealing with the accusations and the secrets that she has been holding
Overall, a very captivating read, with short, engaging chapters told over a dual timeline.
The twist was indeed one I did not see coming!

Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for a e-arc copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book was quite slow paced considering the title and premise of this thriller. I think the first 60% could have been condensed as I felt we spent a lot of time with Beth talking to characters and doing the nursery run which was a little dull. Then the last 10% hit the reader with lots of twists but I felt the character of Beth was a little flat so considering we were meant to flip our opinions on her, I didn’t feel the shock factor I have in other thrillers. The way the serial killer narrative progressed with Tom wasn’t as explored as I would have liked. However it was a fun thriller and I read it super quickly. I am intrigued to carry on with the series and see how another perspective will enhance this story.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide a review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

Having recently said I needed to avoid domestic thrillers because they are all a bit samey and predictable, along comes this marvel.
I thought I knew where things were heading and I was very happily wrong, numerous times.
The fast, short chapters made this a very speedy read. And as I love a multi POV narration this was ideal for me.
The characters were a bit mehhh but that was pretty much the only downside for me.
I will definitely carry on with the series next year!

*The Serial Killer's Wife is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the the last page.

*The story follows Beth Hardcastle, whose perfect life is turned upside down when her husband, Tom, is arrested for being a serial killer.

*Beth is initially shocked and devastated, but she soon begins to question whether she really knew her husband at all. As she learns more about his crimes, she must also confront her own dark secrets.

*You get a deeper understanding of each character and their motivations because the novel is told from multiple POVs including Beth's, Tom's, and a young woman who is being held captive by Tom.

*I thought it was a well-paced with complex and believable characters. The plot is full of twists and turns, and the ending is both shocking and satisfying.

While this may not be an original story line....after all serial killer's get married too, the twists that Alice Hunter throws into this story definitely make it unique and surprising. As she works her way through the turmoil, this wife will not be another victim of her husband's actions!! A great read.

This book started off at pace and had me intrigued from the beginning. It did, sadly, slow down a bit in the middle while Beth wrestled with her conscience about certain things.

I didn't find Beth to be very likeable, and found it hard to give her my sympathy, however, i do admire how she went out of her way to ensure that her daughter Poppy was protected from all that was going on as much as was possible.

The twist was a little bit expected but it certainly did make for an explosive ending and makes me hope for a sequel featuring the rest of Tom's story.

Alice Hunter’s “The Serial Killer’s Wife” is a riveting, thought-provoking read. When Beth Hardcastle is faced with the knowledge that her seemingly perfect husband Tom may in fact be a killer, it sets off a psychological journey of intense soul-searching and fear. Throughout the story, Hunter delves into the internal battle Beth faces when she is faced with this harsh reality – what does she do if he is a monster?

At its core, this is a book about making tough decisions, even when it means pushing through all kinds of pain and confronting the unknown. It is a beautifully-told story, and a true testament to Hunter’s writing capabilities. The pace is impeccably-paced, and Hunter manages to expertly bring all of the nuances of Beth’s thought process to life in her vivid descriptions.

Alice Hunter’s “The Serial Killer’s Wife” is an emotionally-engaging read, and one that I highly recommend to fans of suspense and psychological thrillers.

"EVERY MARRIAGE HAS ITS SECRETS…
Beth and Tom Hardcastle are the envy of their neighbourhood – they have the perfect marriage, the perfect house, the perfect family.

When the police knock on their door one evening, Beth panics. Tom should be back from work by now – what if he’s crashed his car? She fears the worst.

But the worst is beyond imagining.

As the interrogation begins, Beth will find herself questioning everything she believed about her husband."

The title HOOKED me. As a true crime fanatic, I picked this book solely from the title. Who doesn't want to read about their greatest fear?

Gripping from the title to the final twists. Whew. What a rollercoaster ride!

A great book from Alice Hunter. I’ve never read a book by this author before and I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed the story. The characters were well thought out and the story was well paced.

It was twisted, disturbing, and thrilling until the end. I loved watching the television series Dexter, and always wondered how his family would feel about his extramural activities. (they do know eventually (no spoilers). This book lets you see the murders from the families eyes and makes for intriguing reading.

Wow, this was a heart racing book for sure! Lots of TWs though to have a look at before reading, if you feel they might affect you. I enjoyed the dual POV and without any spoilers... I would sum up the book as being fast paced and chilling. There were lots of twists, turns and a cliffhanger that will leave you gasping in shock! I'm excited to read the sequel now. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of the book.
