I literally could not put this book down. With all of Dilly's books they keep you engaged with the characters and the story line, this one hooks you in from the start and keeps going til the end. A tale containing piracy, lies, betrayal, intrigue, lots of arguments and of course love, there are lots of secrets and disappointments, castles and large houses and loyalty. Rosie has been left to look after her siblings after her father travels to look for rare plants and her mother joins the opera. With the help of faithful Hester and Jarvis she manages to save the family from ruin, unscrupulous so called long distant relatives and very haughty house guests while keeping her poor grandfather safe from smugglers. I cannot wait for the next in the series. Well done dilly definitely one of your best.

This is a great story and well written, I couldn't put it down!!
It chronicles a story of family values, love, betrayal and in the end resolution. The time it is set in makes the story even more amazing as that period of history women had little opportunity to make major changes.

Another great book from Dilly Court as she starts a new series following the inhabitants of Rockwood Castle. Rosie, her brothers Bertie and Walter and sister Patsy live at the castle alongside their Grandfather Sir Lucian and the below stairs staff. However the castle is falling into disrepute and when Piers offers to bail them out a string of events unfolds but who is telling the truth? Easy to follow the story and wonderful characters. Thanks to Dilly Court her publisher and NetGalley.

The Rockwood Chronicles Book 1

Abandoned by their parents and left to fight for themselves, headstrong Rosalind Carey has no choice but to take charge of her younger brothers and sister in Devonshire's grand Rockwood Castle. But their much once-loved home is crumbling like the family who lives within it. Living hand to mouth and desperate to provide for the estate that depends on them, the Carey family are one debt away from ruin. Until the dashing Piers Blanchard appears on their doorstep from Cornwall, claiming that he is the rightful owner of Rockwood Castle.

I love it when I know there's a new book coming out from Dilly Court. I've read all of her books and never once been disappointed. And it looks like we are in for another treat with The Rockwood Chronicles. This is an easy book to read about the Casey and Blanchard families. Wealthy Piers Blanchard arrives at the castle to tell Rosalind that he is the rightful owner and allows Rosalind and her family to continue living there. The storyline is believable and true to the era it was written in, the characters are well developed and I just loved Rosalind's grandfather. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #HarperCollinsUK #HarperFiction and the author #DillyCourt for my ARC of #FortunesDaughter in exchange for an honest review.

Rockwood was home to Rosalind and her family and she would do anything she could to stop it being stolen from them.
Rosalind Carey has no choice but to take charge of her younger brothers and sister in Rockwood Castle. But their once much-loved home is crumbling like the family that lives within it. Living hand to mouth and desperate to provide for the estate that depends on them, the Carey family are one debt away from ruin. Until the day comes when the dashing Piers Blanchard arrives.
Piers says he wants to help pay off the family’s debts. But how can Rosalind be sure he isn’t out to take what is his and leave them all homeless? Only a closely-guarded secret will convince Rosalind she can trust Piers to protect her family – and her fragile heart.
Loved this book from start to finish and so looking forward to the next instalment.

This was great read and I loved the characters. I had no idea how it was going to end. This was a page turner, and I finished the second half in one sitting because I had to know the ending. I confess, I wasn’t sure at first but so glad I kept going. Loved it. My special character was Sir Lucien, who brought such fun to the story with his antics. Lady Pentelow was a force to be reckoned with. Especially, coming to live in the castle with her two sons Alex and Piers who would prove to be a welcome distraction for Rosalind. Look forward to the next in the series.
Definitely recommend this book.

When Rosalind Carey's family find themselves in financial difficulties after her father dies and her mother goes off to find fame as an opera singer ,Piers Blanchard offers to help them but there are lots of secrets to uncover before matters are finally resolved between the families .
