The final instalment of the DCI Hanlon series is everything you expect it to be, and now I'm early looking forward to the next series starring Hanlon.

Alex Coombs has an incredible mastery of the english language and I love nothing more than pausing to look up a word because Coombs; selection adds depth and vitality and to skim would be to miss out.

In The Silent Victims, I was a bit surprised to be rejoining Hanlon on medical leave and have her rejoin for a special assignment. Rejoining with Huss and Enver, Hanlon is tasked with being a part of the protection detail for a right-wing politician. What she uncovers is more than a murderer, and there are some things she will never recover from.

Love how the secondary characters have their own development arc - they have relationships which progress, not just happen and fizzle out. Thankfully, Coombs dropped 'stocky' as a descriptor for Huss in this one.

Overall, great read that builds on each previous story.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

Another thrilling, fast paced and enjoyable read. I was hooked from the first page to the last and loved being back in DI Hanlon’s world again. The first chapter really caught my attention and held it all the way through the book. I didn’t want this book to end! It had a great plot and so many twists in the story that I did not expect. I loved the different location settings which were very descriptive and I could picture the scenes in my mind. And the ending - wow. I hope there is another book to follow on. Thought this was a cracker of a read and for me it really hit the mark. Loved it.

Now everyone that knows me, knows I love a good binge read ... sooooo ... binge read is exactly what I did. I was so captured by this series and the characters that I barely paused to eat.
Okay, I've got to admit that by now my nails are bitten right down to the quick. This is the most high energy, exciting and tense novel of the four. Personal to Hanlon this The Silent Victims moves between Germany, Oxford and London and Coombs utilises the different settings beautifully to create unique experiences in each. The action is relentless and Hanlon gets herself into some tight scrapes as do her colleagues as they race against time to unravel a beautifully plotted mystery .

The last in a series of unbelievable crime novels, Hanlon really is an indestructible ninja winder woman! Yet again her maverick actions save the day and leave a trail of destruction in her wake.
