A big thank you to NetGalley and KR Press, LLC for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is part of a series. It reads pretty well as a stand alone, but there are a lot of characters, so it could be confusing. It is set in New Orleans-which I truly enjoy. Love the vibes of that city. Mikael is a dragon and Avery a human-so instant drama. Fun, flirty book. Very cute. 3.5 stars

These Dragons are so hot how could any girl resist them? I have been thoroughly enjoying this newest spin-off series by Katie Reus, set in her amazing world of shifters, witches, vampires and much more. This series is focusing on the newly awakening Dragon-shifters that are becoming more and more important to the unstable and dangerous world that is recovering from a deadly attack. Mikael and his brothers came out of their millennia long hibernation just before the world imploded and decided to settle in New Orleans, and he found the woman that stole him heart and soul purely by luck. Avery has worked her entire adult life to get over the betrayal of her father and the loss of her mother, raising her younger brothers and making a name for herself in the construction business. Knowing about the supernatural world around her has made her an asset and given her a leg up many times, but when she is asked to house and host three newly awakened Dragon brothers she never imagined how much they would come to mean to her. I loved seeing the connection between Mikael and his Avery, even though he was so reticent about claiming her for so long, he was always there for her and made her brothers his own. HE was sweet, protective, strong, and will to do just about anything to protect her and when an ancient enemy comes back he is willing to forfeit just about anything to keep her safe and happy. Avery has been hiding from any feelings for Mikael and determined to keep him in the friend-zone, but more and more he is becoming irresistible. She finally allows herself to fall for him and then almost loses him, but no way will she let that happen. The heat between Avery and her dragon was beyond hot enough to burn New Orleans, but the sweetness showed that Mikael is more than just a quick fling. I loved seeing these two working together to kick butt against their enemies and protect their loved ones and friends, they truly were the perfect couple. I am dying for the next story in the series and seeing which Dragon is featured next. I see this series going for a good long time. The perfect combination of heat and magic, Reus brings her characters to life and allows for the perfect escape.

Oh Wow! These two may very well have the longest slow burn romance in this incredible world that Ms. Reus has brilliantly crafted! Mikael may very well be the most patient of dragon shifters, lol. Loved not only Avery and Mikael’s love story, but the amazing family dynamics. Funny, lovely and action packed, the Ancient Enforcer just left me craving even more of these dragon, and their unforgettable world!

Oh, I really loved this one and have been waiting for Avery and Mikael's story! And again for those who don't know, I ABSOLUTELY LUUUUURRRRVVVVEEEE DRAGONSSSSS!!! LOL. Mikael is an ancient dragon, one of the best known for being an extremely well tracker, especially back in his day and he has fallen in love with his mate, Avery but she has no idea and he does not know how to express it to her, for fear that she will run away. Wow, the amount of chemistry between these two, was flaming, however, it took a while before Mikael realized he needed to make his move, Lol. When he did, Avery mistakenly thought it would be a friends with benefits relationship, well once Mikael understood what she meant, he quickly disavowed her of that idea. Avery had been through a lot and there was a reason for her to doubt that their relationship could last, but in my book, you should never doubt a dragon. Once they are in, they are all in! Filled with actions, past characters, suspense, and my all-time favorite character Prima, made for a fantastic and terrific read! Now the next book, is King and Aurora, and that story needs to be told. I believe it is obvious to both of them that they are mates but there is so much going on with the both of them, we will just have to see if Ms. Reus can get them to see that they truly belong together. 5 FANTASTIC, ROARING-FIRE LOVING, TERRIFIC STARS*****

This is the third part of a trilogy from one of my favorite authors. I really loved this book. It’s the story of Mikael and Avery, whom we’ve met in Ancient Protector. I was surprised as I thought the third book might be about Lachlan and Rhys’ brother, but it wasn’t. Didn’t bother me at all, just a little surprising. Like the others this one moved quickly. There were a bunch of great side characters, some of whom we got to know in Ancient Protector as well. Great story. I can’t wait to read the next book from this author. I highly recommend this entire series.

This whole series is actiony, steamy fun. I love Katie Reus's style, it's warm and comforting and we all need some warmth and escape right now. The dragons continue to be red hot and engaging and the heroines continue to be relatable and strong. The original series and this spinoff is really entertaining and fun, highly recommend if you want a distraction into some well crafted, light PNR.

My Kindle broke and I had to factory reset it and lost all of my Net Galleys, so I wasn't able to complete my read/review of Ancient Enforcer. For which I'm very angry about and I apologize I wasn't able to review the title for you.

The archive date had already passed and I wasn't able to re-download it. I'll be catching this book from my local library.

I am a big fan of Romance books and I found this one to be a very enjoyable read. I will be looking for more books from this author.

This reviewer is a huge fan of this particular author, mainly due to her never fail, alpha possessive, protective heroes and usually just as equally sassy heroines. However, this go around I can’t help but feel less effort was put into telling this romantic tale. Likely due to the unshakable feeling time was not invested upfront into establishing the main couple’s relationship, especially their love connection.

The instant love of the hero with the heroine seemed unsubstantiated. Sure, later on an attempt was made by using flashbacks of their first meeting, past conversations, interactions, and tidbits here and there. But for me that’s like having to look over my shoulder while walking in front of them trying to figure out where such strong feelings originated from. That’s just not my cup of tea, folks. I like and expect to be presented crucial elements upfront, not when they have supposedly already haven taken place off screen. For this main reason, their story was less enjoyable for me, because it was harder to get on board with the rightness of this relationship. The heroine’s constant pushing away was a wet blanket for me, as well.

Th0ugh this author remains at the top of my go to read when I want a loyal, alpha protective hero who unconditionally, without reservations falls for the heroine, I just felt a tad taken for granted here. Like it was assumed I’d buy into anything. Again, the time and effort required to establish the groundwork/basis of their relationship was missing. Then crumbs of it were thrown in haphazardly afterwards.

At 50%, it just didn’t pack the punch or back up the romance in a way I expected. It seemed a lazy way to set up this main couple. I was told more than felt or witnessed “why” they fell in love. I made it to 80% and despite stuff happening it still felt like not a whole lot was going on. So I chose just to assume it all worked out and went on my merry way to another read.

This was a sweet easy read, I enjoyed the characters and the overall storyline. The story felt a little laggy at times, maybe missing a few deep moments, but I enjoyed the book. It has left me interested on the storylines to come, so I’ll keep my eyes open.

We're back again in New Orleans with one of my fav new paranormal series, Ancients Rising. Dragons, vampires, witches, and so much more. Yay! In Ancient Enforcer, we finally get Mikael and Avery's story. I've been waiting for so long.

Mikael and his two brothers have recently awoken after a centuries-long slumber and have been placed by the Alpha of New Orleans with a human woman, Avery, who runs a construction crew with her two brothers as they try to repair the city after The Fall. Now, Mikael knew from the moment he met Avery that she was special but he's kind of been quite a bit sedate in the telling of his affections. Now, as strange occurrences around the quarter lead the dragons and the Alpha on the search to an old enemy, Avery also finds herself the star of an ill-intentioned old friend. As the world swirls into chaos, Mikael finally works up the nerve to tell Avery how very important to him she really is.

I feel like I say this all the time but it still rings true. Great story, good suspense and world-building, great steam... all around I am super excited for more. I am seriously over the moon for the next book featuring a certain wolf alpha and our resident Phoenix, Aurora. Please come soon!

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I always look forward to each new book in this series! This book has Avery and Mikael as the love interests and they are great! At first, it seemed like Avery thought of all the stranded dragons as the same but then you could start to see things heat up between them.

Always lots of drama, action, intrigue and lots and lots of romance in these books! I also love to see the past characters show up and see how they are doing.

Enjoyed it a little too much and stayed up late to finish it!

I love the unique setting this series has; it adds so much interest to the entire plot & story lines!
Mikael is adorable & his fascination with Avery is fantastic. He is the kind of alpha that gives you the warm fuzzies. He is thoughtful, loving and will rip out the heart of willing to do harm to those he loves. Avery is great but a slight mess, she just needs to stop overthinking and feel. I loved the slow path they took to each other. I think it created a better story and I dare to say this is the best book in the series.

The third book in Ancients Rising, Ancient Enforcer, was an engaging read. The character interaction was edgy and entertaining, and the story was dynamic and intriguing. I would recommend this book and series to readers you are sure to love it as much as I did.

Ancient Enforcer, Book 3 in Katie Reus’ Ancients Rising series features two of my favorite things in romance – the friends to lovers’ trope and paranormal romance with dragon shifters, werewolves, vampires, and witches – so I get the best of both worlds with this read. It did not disappoint. Ancient Enforcer is a sexy, steamy, and sweet romantic paranormal romance with a captivating blend of suspense, action, and horror. Though, for most of the first half it mostly focuses on the development of the friendship between Mikael, a dragon shapeshifter and former general, and Avery, a human house flipper into a sexual relationship before the suspense or action kicks in – not that I’m complaining. The territory Alpha asks Avery to shelter Mikael and his brothers as they adjusted to life after a group of dragon shifters tried to take over the world, causing untold destruction.

Avery’s strong, confident, secure, and happy with her life. However, her parent’s relationship issues and the pain and heartbreak it caused her, and her brothers, left Avery believing fairy tales and happily ever after weren’t real. And that was a problem because every moment she spent with Mikael, it grew harder for her to deny how drawn to him she was and resist how her heart had wanted nothing more than to have a chance with him. Especially, as they became friends and he and his brothers became like family to her and her brothers. As she saw how he cared for her brothers like they were his own and cared for her as no other had before. Nevertheless, she was determined to remain friends with him. Better that than to be hurt when he found a beautiful dragon mate. In war, as a general Mikael had lost so much, clan members, family, and honor in battle. Hardened and jaded by those loses, he should stay away from Avery who is the opposite of everything he’s known and should want – a human, kind, gentle, generous, sweet. But he knew almost from the moment he had first met her that he wanted her to be his, and he wanted no other woman. The hard part was convincing her of this. Particularly, when she was so unwilling to believe that he could genuinely want a future with her.

Mikael’s and Avery’s relationship development is shown through a combination of the present and flashbacks to the past so we can see the progression of them becoming friends and their growing attraction. Their relationship and interactions are sexy and sweet. Avery and Mikael are nicely developed, relatable, and likeable characters who you can’t help but root for and wish the best for, which increases the tension and conflict when her past comes back to create danger for them. While we do see interactions among the two sibling groups and characters from the previous books, not much time is spent on developing Avery’s and Mikael’s brothers outside of their connection to them and importance to the story.

The world-building and description is vibrant and detailed, bringing the story, characters, and action scenes to life. With each new book Reus opens up the Ancients Rising universe a bit more, bringing in new characters, villains, threats, and challenges for the heroes and heroines, and increasing the stakes. This novel was a bit lighter in tone than the previous novels while veering more into the horror genre with some elements of the story, and it works for this story and the universe. Both readers who love this series and readers who love sexy paranormal romance with a great blend of action, suspense, and horror won’t be able to resist Ancient Enforcer.

This is the 3rd book in the Ancient Rising series.

It is a Post-apocalyptic paranormal romance with dragon shifters. It can be read as a stand-alone romance but better as part of the series.

Mikael is a thousand-year-old dragon. Avery is human in charge of a construction crew helping to rebuild housing in New Orleans. Mikael is certain Avery is his mate. However, She isn't interested in a relationship in the chaos of the new world. As they work to figure out what’s between them, old enemies cause havoc and bring danger to the area

Dragon shifters, wolf shifters, and witches against an ancient evil dark mage.

An exciting adventure where loyalty and deep friendships are key. Plus an adorable baby dragonling becomes a hero (gotta love a hero baby dragon)

Great romantic suspense. Satisfying romance. I love this series and can't wait for book 4!

I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I will purchase my own copy.

These books are so addictive. I know that we will eventually work our way through all the unpaired off characters and cannot wait for more.

Mikael is an ancient dragon who was awakened soon before the public outing of supernaturals through a horrible attack. Since then, humans and supernaturals alike have been trying to figure out what this new world looks like. Avery, the appointed "babysitter" of Mikael and his brothers, becomes very valuable after "the fall" due to her construction background and having already known about the things that go bump in the night. Mikael, immediately upon meeting her, knows she is his mate. Avery... she takes some time to get convinced he is even interested in her.

In this new world, there are tons of big bads floating around, and the one from this book just so happens to be tied to both Avery and Mikael in one way or another. Throw in a dragon baby, the building burn between King and his unclaimed mate, and some new dimensions, and you've got a book that is very hard to put down. I really enjoyed the romance here, no matter how long it took to get to the smutty bits. These two are a great match and I hope we get to meet the mystery women that Mikael's brothers are interested in!

Two and a half stars.

I don't know what happened, one minute I was enjoying ancient dragon shifter and human female romance, the next I was dragging my heels. I literally had to force myself to read the last 40% of the book, something which I should have been able to do in 90 minutes, and it took me all day. It's 21:00 hours and I am not kidding. I have done everything (aside from cleaning, obvs) except reading this book.

Mikael is an ancient dragon enforcer trying to adapt to living in the modern world. Avery is a human who is charged with looking after Mikael and his brothers and assimilating them into the modern world. There's Mikael's ancient enemy, who killed the rest of his family, and a vampire master who is indiscriminately making new vampires and allowing them to feed and kill their victims.

Honestly , I'm too bored to continue. There's hell realms, all the usual cast of shifters, an evil stepmother, kidnapping, vials of green evil (yawn). I am so disappointed because I lurve Katie Reus' novels and this one was just a swing and a miss for me.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
