This is such an amazing book in what has become one of my favorite PNR series! I am totally enamored with these dragons and their stories! And Mikael is incredible! He is so strong and powerful, yet so sweet with Avery. He is totally obsessed with her but in a good way, and of course he is yummy. And I love how he is with her, she really throws him off balance. She is such an awesome, sweet and strong person. I love how she takes care of everyone. I really enjoyed watching Mikael and Avery fall in love and every moment of their story even the super tense ones. And I love that there is a new dragonling. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series!

Love these dragons, and this writer. You don’t want to put them down until the end and then your waiting for the next one! This is Avery and Mikael’s story. Mikael and his brother have been living with Avery and her brothers. When an ancient evil appears in the city it’s up to Mikael and his brothers to protect their adopted family, and a mate? Love the baby dragon hunter as well!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Mikael totally won my heart. A dragon shifter who lost many of his family thousands of years ago and recently emerged from hibernation with his two younger brothers. He has awakened to a new world and is trying to settle into the now combined supernatural and human world in New Orleans.

Avery is a human construction forewoman helping to rebuild the city along with her two younger brothers. And the Alpha, King has asked her to help house and guide Mikael and his brothers.

Eventually, this group becomes a self-made family. Mikael is broody, quiet, loyal, and protective. Avery is sweet, happy, independent, and caring. Mikael is sure from the beginning that Avery is his mate, but he is really slow on making a move and afraid of scaring her off. Avery put him in the friend-zone early on. She has made it clear she has trust issues and is not looking for a boyfriend. Even if she is having feelings, she does not think a simple human woman is good enough for a dragon shifter.

But when a new threat is discovered and their pasts come back to haunt them, they will have to stick together not only for their family, but also for the community at large.

Will they lose each other before they even have a chance to share their feelings?

It is a sweet, suspenseful, paranormal romance full of shifters, mayhem, and magic. These two are wonderful together and really have some challenges to get through. The villains in this one have some scary stuff in their arsenal and it introduces even more of this supernatural world. I really liked both of their brothers and their strong relationships. It also brings back other characters from this series to help along the way. I am so excited that King and Aurora finally get a story next in Ancient Vendetta!

Katie Reus’s writing is magnetic. It draws you in from the first page to the last page and Ancient Enforcer is no different. I love everything about this book. The plot has so many twists and turns. The romance is smoking. (See what I did there?) And the family dynamic between Mikael and his brothers and Avery and her brothers warms my heart. All of them living together is amazing. I can’t wait to read King and Aurora’s book next!

I’m obsessed with these ancient dragon shifters! I was curious about Avery from her first mention and this did not let me down. Mikael, Ivyn & Cas are 3 ancient newly awakened dragons and I can’t help but find something endearing over their lack of capturing some nuances, and their old time honor and devotion. This story focuses on Avery and Mikael and series lovers will not be disappointed, lots of cameos from past favorites, and new things to ponder on some of the ones I hope get stories in the future....cough, King and Aurora, cough.
I definety recommend going back and starting at the beginning of this series, these are stories that while are sort of stand-alones are part of an intricate world that you’d benefit from reading them all.

He’s known as an Ancient and an Enforcer😍

Mikael and his brothers awaken from a Hibernation and find themselves in New Orleans, living with Avery and her two brothers. When Mikael sees Avery for the first time, he knows she’s his mate, but she’s resistant to the idea because of her past experiences😢But he’s going to do everything he can to win her heart❤️

I loved this story and it came with a few surprises as well and I can’t wait to read King’s story next❣️I received an advanced copy via Netgalley and voluntarily leave my honest review🤩

ANCIENT ENFORCER is a fantastic offering by a writer who knows how to tease her readers, leave them wondering in anticipation, and then giving them what they want.

Ancient Enforcer, a paranormal romance by Katie Reus, is a thoroughly enjoyable read. The third in a series, it can be read just fine as a standalone, though it might be helpful to read the first two books to fully understand the setting and some of the supporting characters. At least I assume so; I haven't read the other books in the series yet.

Mikael is a dragon shifter just out of a few millennia of hibernation. Avery and her two brothers, humans who are "in" with New Orleans supernatural community, take in Mikael and his two brothers as boarders at the request of NOLA's Alpha (a wolf shifter still awaiting his book). It is a few months after "the Fall," a presumably apocalyptic event that changed the fabric of society and brought supernaturals into the limelight (and into power, it seems). The world described in this novel doesn't seem particularly awful though; there are references to things that aren't widely available (money, decent cell service, alcohol), but Avery and friends don't really seem too bothered by it. Plus, the showers are still hot.

As is typical with shifter stories, Mikael knows almost instantly that Avery is his mate, but she takes some convincing. Throw in an old nemesis of Mikael and a relatively new nemesis of Avery and you have some intrigue and danger.

The characters in this story are all adorable. Mikael is so devoted to Avery, and she is equal parts sweet and competent. Even just a few pages in, I just wanted to be friends with the gang. And I want my own dragonling.

There were parts of the story, however, that seemed rushed or were explained away a little clumsily. With such a large cast of characters and a plot that depends on a cataclysmic event like "the Fall," a prologue that summarizes the situation and maybe she if the key players would have been very helpful. Also, I'm very willing to buy into paranormality, but without the background, the parts of this story that dealt with realms of hell were distracting to me.

Overall though, this story is a fun and fast read. It is well written and thoughtful, and I would read the other books in the series in a heartbeat.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

Finally we get to read the story about Mikael and Avery. And it was soooo good. For all dragon-romance lovers out there - go get this book or even better, the series.

I do love all the books from the series, and I was highly anticipating this one.

You do not have to read book 1 and 2 necessarily, however, you will get to meet some of the old characters. But the story itself is good as it is.

The dynamic between Mikael and Avery was kind of explosvie, but both were still hesistant in the beginning. Thank you Mikael that at a certain you could not take it anymore and took the initiative. It was just great to read about their story and how they developed.

I really am looking forward to read more about the dragons, however, I do hope a certain wolf will get his story soon as well.

Ancient Protector had a slow start for me, but once I wrapped my head around who was who and what they were up to I flew through the pages. Excellent storyline with characters (main ones) that were well fleshed. I'm intrigued by the secondary characters that we meat and can't wait for King's book.

How haven't I read anything by Katie Reus yet?

The dragons are back. Mikael is the focus of this book. In the city of New Orleans evil lurks seeking to end the world and to spoil Mikael's treasure. Ms. Reus does it again. This is a one sitting read, a stand alone in the series. Some of your favorite characters are back as well as new ones you will fall in love with.

Wow this book had drawn me in so much I didn’t want to put it down at all. My bookworm has devoured it completely. The story is written well and I would say read it totally. Thanks to the author

Q: which author do you have the most of on your e-reader?

Katie Reus’s books are like sugar for me. I devour them and I enjoy the heck out of the rush. Whether she’s writing romantic suspense or PNR her books give me an enticing dose of steam, drama, & entertainment.

Ancient Enforcer is her steamiest read yet & it features dragon shifter Mikael, a former general now contractor recently out of a long Hibernation & the human woman he & his brothers are currently living with as they acclimate to modern life, Avery Cortez.

Mikael is Friend Zoned with Avery with a capital FZ but he’s trying to be patient & it’s pretty endearing to see. Most importantly for my purposes he’s D E V O T E D to her & when they finally get together yikes, it’s hot.

While I can totally get behind a plot that’s a little bananas I did feel like some aspects of this one could have benefited from some more time &/or attention, & for me, the villain scenes could have been a *tad* more subtle.

But Ancient Enforcer’s fun & sexy with all of those shifter romance moments I crave & it gave me the kind of steamy escape I was searching for so *clap clap.*

3.5 ⭐️. Ancient Enforcer is available on 01/26/21. Thanks to the publisher & Netgalley for the complimentary ARC. All opinions provided are my own.

I can't get enough of these Ancient dragon shifters. They have an intenseness to them since they come from a much older time. This world to them is to strange and they have some communication problems since they don't understand the current slang. It's very entertaining.

There is just so much to love about Mikael. He's an ancient enforcer, so to see this intense shifter fall completely under Avery's spell made me happy. He's from a time where males takes what they want but he was patient with Avery. Maybe a little too patient, but it was sweet.

Avery was just a sweet heroine. She was kind and well liked. I like that she was the boss of all these male humans and shifters in her job. It shows how much everyone liked her since she didn't have the hardness to her that a boss needs.

I enjoyed the plot twist. It kept things interesting and brought together so many of the side characters that I'm loving and enjoying in this series.

I'm also loving these dragon yearlings. I'm so excited about the potential for two more. I really hope we get to see them in upcoming books. They make me want my own pet dragon!

Oh yes, another one in the Ancient Rising Series! After Ancient Protector and Ancient Enemy we return to New Orleans, where Avery (yes, from Ancient Protector) agrees to King's request to look after Mikael, Cas and Ivyn who have only just awakened.
Avery has reluctantly agreed to house the three dragons. With looking after her own two brothers, Anthony and Riel, she already has her hands full. But in the chaos that has erupted since the outing of supernatural beings (yes that was in Ancient Protector), she is determined to help as many people as she can. By building more and more houses with her work crew.
So, she doesn't need any entanglement with a man. Or a sexy dragon shifter. And especially not with grumpy Mikael. But of course, Mikael isn't going to let her go. Because his dragon has realized that Avery is his mate. But in this modern world, women need to be courted and asked, rather than being thrown over your shoulder and taken to bed.
So, Mikael is doing his best to adjust to the modern world. But when Avery's brothers are kidnapped and her life is in danger: all bets are off. A wonderful read, as always. And we meet a lot of old friends: Aurora and King (whose story will be in the next part of this series, YAY!), Greer (from Darkness Rising) and Aurora's bandmates (from Ancient Protector). Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

This is the third book in the Ancient Rising series. Ancient Enforcer is the story of Mikael who has come out of hibernation after many, many years and is staying with his brothers at Avery's house. He immediately knows she's his mate but doesn't want to pressure her, just let her get used to it slowly.
But when an enemy of his past starts wrecking havoc they are forced to face their feelings. Together they fight to stop the enemy and have their future.

I've loved every book in this series and I really, really hope that King and Aurora's book is next.

A big thank you to the author and Netgalley to give me this ARC.

This book was so good, I have loved this series theses old dragons that fall in love with strong independent women. They also team up to take down evil people. This book is part of a series but could definitely be read as a stand alone. I would definitely recommend this book

ARC received for review

Another yummy dragon shifter romance. Avery put Mikael in the friend zone, and he has no clue what that means after having been asleep for thousands of years. Danger comes calling and he finally moves out of the friend zone. Lots of action, drama, adventure, romance and sex along the way. So nice to see all the previous peeps.

There are so many more creatures (dragons, lions, tigers, wolves, phoenix) to get HEAs, but I'm sure we are going to have to wait until the last book for Aurora and King.

I'm so in love with these ancient dragons. They are alphas and so possessive of their woman. Katie always brings me a hero I absolutely fall in love with. Her heroines are also strong, independent women and I love that.
