I love this series of books and this latest installment does not disappoint. This book has wonderful examples throughout its pages of accomplished and diverse women. Some of the notable ones are: Leymah Gbowee, Malala Yousafzai, Kamala Harris, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Aly Raisman. These women, and many more mentioned in this book, allow young children to see the many diverse fields in which women can be leaders. The stories show how these women became the leaders they are, by never giving up, fighting for what is right, and believing in themselves. This book is another great example of allowing children to be introduced to so many amazing women, roles, and potential futures for their young minds. As always, the illustrations in these books are beautiful and capture the essence of those being discussed perfectly.

This book was fantastic. I read this book with my girls (7 and 10) and they thoroughly enjoyed it. In conversation they now reference women they knew and learned more about, as well as women they'd never heard about. Its led us to dive into more research of these awesome women. As an educator, I also brought this to school to share certain pages with my kids. Great read, will be buying!

What a truly wonderful book! Every young girl should have a copy of this book. The author goes over women such as Cleopatra, Lady Gaga, Kamala Harris, RBG, and Michelle Obama. You learn about them as young children, their hopes and dreams, and how they came to be successful leaders. Truly inspiring.

What’s even better is that there’s a section at the end for the reader to write their own story and focus on their hopes and dreams.

I love what this teaches young girls (and even young boys who may someday marry one of these strong women or raise one) to reach for the stars. Excellent!

This is another stellar example of the quality nonfiction work that Rebel Girls produces. The biographical overviews of the leading women are information and fascinating while also being approachable for the age group, and the artwork depicting the women is gorgeous. We were pleased to see some favorites from other Rebel Girls books featured here in the leadership collection. Well done!

I absolutely loved this illustrated book made with the purpose to inspire young girlls! Rebel Girls Lead by Rebel Girls is a collection of 25 amazing females who are leaders in various fields. This is such a wonderful book with beautiful illustrations and a perfect amount of information for young kids. I loved the diversity and how the females varied in race, age and came from all different walks of life.

As a mother of a 2 year old little girl, these are women that I'd want my daughter to learn about and look up to at a young age. This book serves as a reminder that our little ones should dream big and never give up. I was brought back to Inauguration Day and all of the emotions that ran through me as I watched my daughter take a break from playing to watch VP Kamala Harris get sworn in 😭. It was so surreal and left me in complete awe.

The text is engaging and gives just enough information about the legends to bring them to life which the author hopes will start a fire burning inside of you knowing you can achieve great things just like these seasoned rebels and fostering a desire to perhaps pick up a book to learn more about whoever may create a spark within your mind. The imagery showcases a plethora of artists from all over the world and complements the biography superbly. Rebel Girls introduces us to remarkable women and their extraordinary lives, this mini edition features tales of powerful leaders, including Stacey Abrams, Lady Gaga, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and more! Overall, I thought this edition was very well done! I think it would be a decent choice to read as a bedtime story for children. The representation is lacking for Asian women, which the point of Rebel Women is to represent all types of women should be important. Also, some of the illustrations for some women were not to the same standards as others, so I think there needs to be a balance between who has the ‘glamour’ illustration and who has a cartoon illustration.
I think this is a solid 4 out of 5 stars for a children’s book because it does offer positives. I do think that the Rebel Women need to make sure they are accurately representing women from all locations and backgrounds. I also think they need to take more consideration for the type of illustrations that are used for what people, like why is a black and white illustration only used for a Woman of Color?

A brilliant book for any young person to read. I read this with my 9 year old daughter as we have been learning about strong influencial woman. We absolutely loved this. Will be ordering a hard copy so that we can keep it. Highly recommend.

The Rebel Girls books have been a favourite of mine since the very first one, and this one is a GREAT one. A little smaller than the Goodnight Stories For Rebel Girl series, this book has 25 inspiring stories of women in leadership roles. Such as activists, CEOs, government officials, coaches, as well as the most influential TV host of all time. The other wonderful thing about this book -- it includes a historical moment in US history, a female Vice President. Congrats Vive President Kamala Harris 👏👏👏

The other thing I love about this series -- they are written by and about amazing women, and even illustrated by women!

If I were to rate the Rebel Girl books, I'd say this Rebel Girls Lead is my 2nd favourite of all the Rebel Girl books, second only behind the original Goodnight Stories For Rebel Girls. But overall, I love this entire series.

Rebel Girls Lead is a small but solid volume in the growing "Rebel Girls" stable of biographies and stories of female empowerment, released to coincide with the inauguration of Kamala Harris as Vice President of the USA. This book focuses particularly on women who have assumed leadership roles, and over half of the biographies are repetitions from earlier books, including Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Tales of Extraordinary Women and Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls 2.
Each of the page-long biographies opens with the words "Once there was a girl..." (or similar) and details the challenges that these inspiring women overcame to realise their leadership potential and become icons for other women and girls. The biographies are accompanied by colourful portraits, each produced by a different female artist.
Given the origins of the series, it's not surprising that there is a distinctly American slant to the selection of subjects (15 of the 25), although I was pleased to see the inclusion of several non-US leaders, including Malala Yousafzai, Angela Merkel and Jacinda Ardern. The leaders are chosen from a variety of fields, many political, but also those who fight for women's and indigenous rights, peace and the environment. The timeframe spans from ancient history to the USA's newly-sworn in Vice President.
The volume concludes with a series of worksheets, encouraging young readers to consider their own leadership skills, style and aspirations.
My only disappointment was that I felt three of the biographies - those of Cleopatra, Elizabeth 1 and Michelle Obama, inexplicably downplayed these women's most notable achievements, focussing instead on the men they fell in love with and what beautiful clothes they wore. To me, that seemed contrary to the rationale of the series and a disservice to their phenomenal example.

This new compilation, brings back (since most of them were already published on previous installments) biographies of powerful woman, in hopes to inspire a new generation of girls to fight for what is right, work hard, follow their dreams and make this world a better, inclusive world.

This book is a tool of empowerment. It gives brief stories of strong, courageous women that when put into the hands of little girls, will allow the girls to fly. Each story is a page long, just right for upper elementary students and has an accompanying full page image of the individual.
At the end there are activities for the girl to do to see how to bring her inner leader out.
This is a must have book for young girls.

First, this is a very US centred book, but the fact that its incredibly up to date (Kamala!!) means that many of the women featured will be familiar to even non-US students. One page each of readable information about a wonderful array of leaders, with great graphics and then some information about leadership in general at the end. Wonderful as a stand alone resource or as a jumping off point for further research or project work. I will definitely be buying a copy of this for my classroom.

This is another great instalment in the Rebel Girls series that focuses on leaders. Many women across the world have broken barriers to become the first female leader in many different fields, whether it's politics, activism, or business. These women didn't let the "norm" stand in their way of standing up and taking the lead! If you've enjoyed other Rebel Girls books, or if this is your first time reading one, you will not be disappointed with this instalment! And it comes out tomorrow!! A good choice for any little leaders in your life!

Rebel Girls Lead is a collection of mini-biographies dedicated to showcasing women from across the globe who acted as disrupters for change, inspirational role-models, and destroyers of glass ceilings. The biographies presented are digestible for the target audience of young children - each one is about half a page of text. I'd classify this more as a way to quickly introduce students to some of the most influential women on the planet.

There's a solid mix of both historical and modern figures and a really wonderful array of global diversity. I was especially pleased to see both Indigenous and Asian women represented here - and not just one of each. It truly felt like the authors were very intentional with their choices and not just looking to check off a box to claim the diversity endorsement. The women chosen represent multiple races, abilities, careers and impacts.

Some ideas for using this in the classroom might be:
- Morning Meeting - choose 1 woman each morning or 1 woman each week to read about
- Biographical writing - this would be a GREAT mentor text for biographies; the summary of these women's lives is well done and also shows a clear point of view rather than just fact-giving
- Independent reading - lots of little girls would be inspired by the stories represented here
- Windows and Mirrors lesson - because there is such a range of diversity here, consider using this as a way for students to identify ways they are both similar to (mirrors) and different from (windows) the women presented

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. As an adult, I also learned about some women I didn't know of! This would be a wonderful addition to any classroom library.

I’m a huge fan of the Rebel Girls books, and have read the previous books to my sons. I firmly believe in raising my boys to find women inspirational and worthy of respect.
This collection has some very current personalities, particularly if you’ve been following American politics lately. But there is also some notable women from history as well such as Cleopatra and Harriet Tubman. My eldest son was particularly pleased to see the Cleopatra addition as he is autistic and Ancient Egypt is his particular special interest. In fact, if the Rebel Girls team want to put out a Rebel Girls of Ancient Egypt- you’d certainly have a buyer in the form of my son!
I really enjoy the format of these books- the dates the person lived are clearly laid out, the biography is concise but informative and the opposite page is a stunning illustration portrait and a quote from the notable person.
Highly recommend and I will definitely be continuing to read any other Rebel Girls books they put out.

My next gift to my nieces definitely will be Rebel Girls Lead by Rebel Girls! The importance of the book lies in its choice of women highlighted; including educators, politicians, athletes, CEO's and freedom fighters such as Oprah, Tammy Duckworth, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Pat Summitt, Malala, Wilma Mankiller and Aly Raisman. Each woman has a one-page synopsis of her life and why she is a rebel girl with a fabulous illustration on the next page. The illustrations are amazing! Concluding the book, the reader will find a page for her to write her autobiography and a page to draw her portrait.

Such a positive read for girls! Here's a quote from the Foreword. "The women in this book started out just like you. They were kids who had dreams and fears, hopes and questions. They were full of curiosity and a desire to make a difference. They faced challenges, and they kept going. And the world will remember them for their leadership."

I wish such a wonderful book had been available when I was a girl!

Each leader is featured with a “once upon a time” story and beautiful illustrations.

This is a powerful book for young readers, and also provides an opportunity and space for them to write their own story !

Rebel Girls Lead is filled with one page biographies detailing some of the most inspiring women in our current history. I loved how accessible the stories were for my 8 year old daughter and the brevity served as a jumping off point for family discussions.

As a teacher, I see so much potential for use in the classroom. These short snippets would allow students to compare, contrast, and research, while also seeing their own potential through revolutionary women. As a note, most of the women mentioned mold United States history, so if you are looking for stories that represent our world, you may want to look at a previous edition. Another amazing installment! I’m excited to read this one with my kids, especially my 7 year old daughter. The art is, as always, lovely, and I loved the diversity of the women included, I was excited to see some of my heroes here, along with some people I hadn’t heard of yet.
