I am the "adopted" Auntie of several girls from age 9 to age 21, and blood Auntie to several more, and this book makes me glad to be standing alongside all of these Rebel Girls, helping to be one voice to help guide them (even if I don't often think I'm that much of a rebel!).

This book focuses on 25 Rebel Leaders in a way that is easily understandable and accessible for even young girls. It's obviously very simplistic for girls who are older, but from the ages of about 5-10, this book would be a great way to show girls strong girls and women of our past, present, and future.

There are also great quotes from the women the book highlights, and they are just as inspiring as the stories of the Leaders lives. These women range everywhere from Cleopatra to Harriet Tubman to Lady Gaga and Rigoberta Menchu Tum. At the end of the book, there is a spot for the girl reading the book to write her own story, and draw her own picture of herself to show that she's a Rebel Girl who can and will be a Leader as well! There's also a quiz to help figure out what kind of leader they will be, and a leadership training group of exercises.

I know there are people who think that writing books specifically for girls is limiting and may actually be harmful, but I find it's needed. So often, leaders in our society are seen as only men, and the women get ignored or pushed aside. It's great to have a series of books that focuses directly on the girls and women who are making a difference in the world and that strives to teach girls that they, too, can affect great change in the world, even if they do it in small ways.

What a great book to read to our daughters and granddaughters! There are 25 little vignettes, told very simply, but never condescendingly, about some of our powerful women leaders. Here we have young girls from diverse backgrounds, skilled in many areas, becoming leaders by adding kindness to their talents and strength -women such as Angela Merkel , Jacinda Adern, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Leymah Gbowee, in fields ranging from peace activism, politics, climate activism, justice . The book is beautifully illustrated and speaks directly to the reader/listener, emphasizing that everyone is strong!
In an age where leadership is increasingly important, and women are finding their voices, we are realizing more and more the special qualities women can bring to leadership. Our daughters and granddaughters deserve this knowledge and inspiration. It’s important, too, that our young sons and grandsons appreciate the strength of our women leaders.
My granddaughters enjoyed Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, and I’ll definitely be purchasing this one when it’s published!
My thanks to NetGalley for providing an electronic copy of this book.

I have been loving the Rebel Girls stories for some time, and I admire them for what they are. This collection in particular focuses on women who are all leaders in some way or another. There were a lot of politicians, but I enjoyed that there were some different professions. I was a but disappointed that only about half of the “stories” are new ones, the rest are also found in the previous three books.

This book is a nice addition to the series, but doesn’t stand out from the rest of the series in any way.

I wish I had this book when I was in school! I love the format and the beautiful illustrations. I really appreciated the diversity of the females - from Olympic athletes to CEOs and government leaders - this book will encourage all young girls to use their unique gifts to make a difference in the world.

Rebel Girls Lead: 25 Tales of Powerful Women is exactly the type of biography anthology I would have loved as a young girl. I can't express how glad I am that stories of strong women are finally being published for our young readers.

The book includes a short biography for each of the "powerful woman" paired with a wonderful illustration. Twenty-five different female artists from around the world provided the illustrations, making each truly unique. I also appreciated the diversity and the variety of professions from which they've selected female leaders, as well as the fact that a few historical women were included as well. At the end of the book, there is a section for readers to draw their own portrait and write their biography, as well as activities to learn their leadership style and develop their leadership skills. This is such a wonderful addition.

The language of the book is probably accessible for independent reading by middle to late elementary age readers, but the stories are definitely suitable for reading aloud to younger readers as well. I would highly recommend this book for all elementary age girls. It's my understanding that many of these biographies are adapted from longer Rebel Girls books and I can only imagine those are equally as wonderful.

Thank you to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for making the eARC available in exchange for my honest review.

This book has twenty five summarised pages on influential woman of all races. I love how it’s told in a children’s story format as that makes it easier for children to understand as this book is marketed to teach young girls about leadership and making waves in the world. I especially loved Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga & Oprah’s stories, they are powerhouse women to me. I also really loved the illustrations and how time wasn’t a factor, it also speaks of Cleopatra and Queen Elizabeth.

I believe this would be perfect for a primary school classroom!

Twenty-five inspiring profiles of female leaders from all over the world comprise this attractive book for elementary and middle-grade readers. A short, straightforward summary of each woman's life is accompanied by a colorful, stylized illustration (children may enjoy comparing these to actual photos!).

Although a case could be made for oversimplification of some of the biographical sketches, the text is appropriate for the intended audience and reads like a bedtime story. Each woman's life history will leave youngsters feeling heartened, impressed, and confident that they, too, can grow up to affect change in the world. A must for library collections!

This is such an awesome book for girls of all ages. I am a middle school educator and this is perfect for our young girls living in such a diverse, urban area.

I love how much diversity this book shows and how there is at least one woman for practically every letter of the alphabet. Each woman gets a snippet of what makes them so special. I loved the illustrations that accompanied each woman as well. The book goes even further to provide birthdates and women from all over the world.

The occupations and accomplishments of the different females also varies greatly. There is so much empowerment and strength behind each woman. Each feature has a quote as well. It’s cute how each part is told almost like a little fairy tale as well.

I adore this book and hope to get it into my school!

A quick informative story highlighting the power of women.
I loved the message of the book and the diversity of the stories. The illustration was eye catching and unique. I appreciate that I was not the target audience, but I would of loved more detail of the girls motives and how the managed to reach their goals. Overall, I think that this book accomplished what it set out to do.

This book is perfect for elementary school age girls! The book introduces 25 notable women leaders from various cultures and from various disciplines. Well each tidbit is very short (only one page per woman) it does give a taste of what these women have done. I also enjoy how many of the profiles start out with "once upon a time" or in a similar vein bringing together the world of fairytales and real life. Throughout the book there is also beautiful illustrations of each woman.

The end of the book features a blank template and quiz for girls to fill in and encourages them to be leaders and "rebel girls" in their own right.

Overall a very enjoyable book to introduce girls to these remarkable women.

This is my first Rebel Girls book, and I was so glad for the experience! It is definitely a book that is perfect for both young and old readers alike, and it would teach the important lessons of women empowerment and striving to be the best in our respective fields. It also doesn't hurt that it has adorable drawings to match the stories of each individual.

Rebel Girls Lead is a collection of one-page biographies of 25 incredible women, from Olympic gymnasts to First Ladies, Supreme Court justices to climate activists. The variety of women is wide, as is the illustration style that accompanies each bio. I love that there is a section at the end for the reader to write her own story and draw her own portrait, and some information on leadership training. My younger self would have loved to read a book like this (and I still enjoyed it now). I think this is perfect for elementary and middle grade readers, and they will definitely enjoy it!

I received an electronic ARC from Rebel Girls through NetGalley.
A shorter book that shares one page biographies lf 25 incredible women who have stood up for others and for themselves in a wide variety of situations. Elementary and middle grade readers will connect to these Rebel Girls and their desire to change the world. The illustrations and short quotes on each page spread further emphasize the integrity and commitment of these women. The leadership quiz and further information at the end of the book allows readers to figure out their own leadership styles. Looking forward to reading these short readings to students.

I always love books like this--books that are accessible, fun to read, and educational. Some of the writing isn't super spot on (ex: the Queen Elizabeth editing jumps from one wife of Henry's being sent away to another wife having a son, disregarding Anne Boleyn....who wasn't sent away...) but I think kids really gravitate to the series as a whole and I appreciate the entire Rebel Girls line.

Very fun! I learned a lot myself.
The biographies are good introductions to lots of different women. I especially liked the followup activities.

I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to read an e-copy of this book. Like other books in the series, this focuses on women and in this case, 25 women who are inspirational leaders. The beauty of this book is the format of the pages. Each one starts with a topic sentence that is as unique to the individual as the rest of their story. The stories are easily accessible to read and accompanied by stunning illustrations and superb quotes. The power of this book is the message that all can succeed.

I really like Rebel girls lead: 25 tales of powerful women. I think it's a very inspirational book especially for little girls. I also believe that this book could be a lesson for the boys to fight for equality and always stand by women. I love all the stories told here and I like the fact that I discovered some new inspirational figures like Xiye Bastida. Thank you NetGalley so, so much for this book!

I was looking forward to reviewing this book and enjoyed learning about some women from around the world that make good role models for children today (especially girls).

I like the fact that the biography/stories are quite short - these would make a great bedtime story with an appropriate opener for discussion. The pages are brightly coloured and illustrated in an attractive manner.

However, I am in the UK and despite there being 25 women showcased in this title, only ONE was from the UK (actually, I found this book to be very heavily US biased) and the female in question was Queen Elizabeth I! Is there no one more current that could have been included? This title has Malala and Kamala Harris... but Queen Elizabeth I ? Egypt doesn't fare any better, with only Cleopatra making the grade! The selection of females overall seems odd, and not always inspiring. I was interested to learn about Aly Raisman (gymnast and team captain), Guisi Nicolini (Italian Mayor), Mary Barra (CEO of GM)... amongst others so why include prominent females from hundreds of years ago? Many of the females featured are still alive and have fabulous stories to tell, perhaps requiring books like this to give them a 'voice' - so why waste pages with stories of women from old that history tells us about over and over? To me this feels like a title written for an American audience with a few other women from around the world thrown in for a little balance. This book missed its mark for me and I found myself wanting so much more!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Rebel Girls for my DRC of this book in exchange for an impartial review. This review was written voluntarily and all opinions herein are my own.
I have had a couple of Rebel Girls books on my TBR for a while now, and I was glad to see this one on Netgalley. I read it and really enjoyed it. It reminded me of books like She Represents by Caitlin Donohue and Nevertheless, She Wore It by Ann Shen.
As the title suggests, this book features 25 amazing women who have broken/ are breaking glass ceilings in spite of their gender, sexuality, religion, and race. I love how the author(s) gave insight into each woman’s background, and ended each entry with their most prominent achievement. I love this as a resource for young readers because it teaches them that they can achieve anything regardless of the color of their skin. This book was really diverse, and I highly appreciate that.
The illustrations were so vivid and detailed, and they made the book really fun to read. I enjoyed this one and I highly recommend it.
