Dying To Be Her could have been a good novel if it was not for the incredibly cheesy and unrealistic ending. I seriously lost interest with this novel about halfway through. I work in Healthcare and there is no way those twins would have gotten away with what they did. A simple slap on the wrist by the police chief, I highly doubt that. You could really figure out the ending almost a third of the way through. Not saying that this is a terrible book just very cheesy and highly predictable.

Like the first book, I wasn't able to get into the story and keep up with the characters or the supernatural angle. I look forward to reading more books from Mr. Olsen. I have always enjoyed his writing though this series definitely isn't for me.

I love thriller that mixes crime with supernatural aspects and I like Gregg Olsen's books so this was highly expected and I wasn't disappointed.
I found it entertaining and gripping even if a bit slow at times.
The character and plot development are as good as usual and the author is a talented storyteller.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

Great read!!! I liked the mixture of supernatural, mystery, and thriller within the book. I loved the storyline also. However there were points that was a bit slow for me which is why I did not rate this book 4 stars. Very surprising secrets including the twins' mom's secret. I was very surprised with the ending.

When an exchange student from Britain is found murdered at a party the twins Hayley and Taylor were at, they have no idea who could have done it. Their friends all become suspects and the girls know they must find out what went on.
A good read with some characters you love to hate. There is a lot more to these story's but I don't want to give any spoilers. A book that can be shared with your 16 year old children and still enjoy as adults. Would definitely read another if the author makes it a series.

I didn’t realize that #DyingToBeHer was a sequel & that could’ve been why I was confused in some parts of the book. I’m an action loving girl, but I felt like it had too much going on. I loved the story line about the twins & I feel like their plot could’ve been enough without adding in the mystery of Olivia’s death. I will be going back & reading #BeneathHerSkin to see if that helps me understand it better.

Not really my cup of tea, some interesting characters and plenty of twists but didn't keep me involved in the story.

I read Dying to Be Her without realizing it was the second book in the Port Gamble series featuring the twins Haley and Taylor and their unique abilities they use to communicate and predict and solve crime. It can totally be read as a standalone as the central crime stands alone without background needed.

It's on the more gruesome of the YA mysteries that have been coming out recently, but is definitely engrained in a teenage world. It's a fast-paced read and grabbed my attention enough to want to go back and read the first book in the series.

I've read Gregg Olsen's non-fiction work but this was my first read of his fiction and I enjoyed the quick pace and thrills.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the gifted e-copy.

So…. I didn’t like Book 2 any better than Book 1. This type of book is right in my wheelhouse so it’s really unfortunate that it just didn’t click for me.

Most of the main characters from Book 1 are included. It didn’t feel like there was any growth to the characters. The new characters that were introduced seemed superficial, again. Most of the teens in the book are just over the top uncaring and uninteresting.

The murder mystery was quite boring for me and overall this book felt like an assignment that I had to trudge through to complete. This series is a big miss for me. I’ve heard the author is great, so I’ll try another one of his books in the future to see if I can get a better connection with his writing.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for providing this book. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy and all views expressed are only my honest opinion.

The questions I had from the previous book got an answer in this one. And the murder plot was even better than in book one. Evil and manipulating kids and adults alike. Creepy good and a real page turner!

This was a fast-paced thriller with a lot of twists and turns! When twins Haley and Taylor Ryan find out about the death of Olivia Grant and the different theories surrounding her death, things just don’t seem to add up. Their psychic abilities are put to the test as they investigate and they find obstacles at every turn. Jealousy, envy, manipulation run amok in this story! It is definitely a must read!

Thank you #NetGalley and #Bookouture for providing me the AC! I really enjoyed reading the book!

I started this one immediately after the first one. I did enjoy this one but again the kids texting style and parts of this story just didn't have me hooked. I became engaged again when the twins started to look further into their past. I find their story to be more interesting then anything. Still overall a good mystery setting.

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this!

An intriguing story with efficient storytelling that somehow manages to fall flat.

The entire premise was a tad far-fetched. From the crimes committed and the roles played by the teenage characters, everything seemed silly and highly unlikely.

Olsen has an undeniable talent for writing, but teenagers are not characters he has managed to accurately portray.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy. The opinions are my own.

The town of Port Gamble Washington is shocked by an exchange student’s murder at a Halloween party and not long after, another local teen is murdered.

The Ryan twins set out to solve the murder with the help of their supernatural abilities. In the midst of working towards solving the murder, the girls discover a shocking secret from a family member’s past. Relationships of all kinds will be tested while everyone waits for the murderer to be found. Will the murderer be someone everyone knows or were the killings random? Follow along with the HayTay twins to find out what went down in Port Gamble.

I quickly connected with the characters (both the likeable and unlikeable ones) and I wanted to keep reading to see how the plot played out. I didn’t realize until I was almost finished reading the book that this was the second novel in a series. It did not impact my understanding of the plot and this could be read as a stand alone book. I now look forward to reading the first book and seeing how the HayTay story began.

Gregg Olsen’s second Young Adult novel has been re-released under the name Dying to Be Her.

Olivia Grant is a foreign exchange student who has recently acquired a new friend Brianna Connors. Brianna is throwing a Halloween party from her family's plush home. With her parents away on a cruise the high school students, including Olivia, start on Brianna's father's craft beers, and shortly afterwards, Olivia goes to lie down upstairs, feeling unwell. Falling asleep, she later wakes to find she's being attacked and her injuries are fatal.

Twins Hayley and Taylor Ryan possess psychic abilities and are pulled into the aftermath of the murder as suspicion grows as to who the likely culprit is. With danger lurking, they must learn the truth before time runs out.

With its excellent plot and brisk pacing, I had difficulty putting this book down between chapters. Dying to Be Her was such an absorbing read, and I relished every moment. The story was told from various viewpoints, including those of the Ryan twins, the killer and the police. This riveting, dark story was weighty and Gregg Olsen brilliantly weaves this twisty tale with skill and flair. It delivered heart-stopping suspense, plenty of red herrings, ethical questions, and information about a true crime - the Amanda Knox case - that inspired the novel. As the story unravelled, details from the twins' pasts were laid bare. Set in Port Gamble, Washington and containing enough mystery and intrigue to compel me to read late into the night, this was an immeasurably good read.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Bookouture via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion.

This story had me hooked the whole way through. Gregg Olsen is a brilliant author who always draws you into his stories. The characters are interesting and I found the shallowness of some of them fascinating.

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy.

This is the second instalment of Empty Coffin series featuring Hayley and Taylor Ryan. I've read the fist one too, so it was easier for me to know the characters in the book, but I think that it is not a problem to read this one as a standalone. Since I know Gregg Olson as a true crime writer, every book for Ryan sisters is inspired by one true crime case.
This story is about foreign exchange student from England that was stabbed to death during a Halloween party right in the start of this novel. The host of the party Brianna Connors and her boyfriend Drew seem to act in a unusual way for a teenagers who found dead Olivia. They are immediately accused, judged, and found guilty by the press and social media.
In time of the killing twin sisters Taylor and Hayley are both awakened by the sense that something is very wrong, just like they felt one year earlier when their childhood friend died.
While they are investigating what exactly happened in the present, they start unraveling secrets from their own past. The story is easy to follow and it's bit interesting to read about teenage spitefulness throughout the book.
It kept my attention and had to read it in almost one sitting. I had to guess who was the murderer until the end. I enjoyed reading the book and if there is another instalment in this series, I will read it too.

The cover of this book is eye-catching.
There's no denying that Gregg Olsen is extremely talented. I've enjoyed every book I've read by him, so I had high expectations for Dying To Be Her.
The characters are well-developed.
The storyline was unique and easy to follow.
I found myself wanting to read more and more.

I'd definitely purchase a copy and check out other books by the author.

Dying to Be Her is a school girl murder mystery with hints of the supernatural. When foreign exchange student, Olivia Grant is killed at a Halloween party, the local police seem inept as they question everyone from school. Twins, Hayley and Taylor Ryan, have a touch of ESP and can uncover details that everyone else cannot. When a second murder occurs, the girls manage to solve the case before the police in a twisted and unexpected whodunit. A page turning story by the master of twists, Gregg Olsen once again proves why he is a must read. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
