This was a cute "Freaky Friday" style body switching story about two very different moms living two very different lives. I felt like the book tried really hard to be funny, which felt a little off-putting at the beginning, but eventually won me over. By the end I was laughing along with the characters and enjoying their little comments to themselves and each other. The middle of the book drug on a little long as well, but once I reached a certain point, I couldn't stop reading. There was a much heavier ending to the book than I was expecting and I was thoroughly invested by the end. All in all, I enjoyed this book quite a bit and would recommend it to others. It was fun, yet serious at times; lighthearted and yet deep too.

The Seven Day Switch, by Kelly Harms, is a funny neighbor/enemies/grass-is-greener on my side of the fence, body switch. Celeste is a SAHM and has the perfectly clean home and Pinterest meals. Wendy is a working mom, with frozen dinners and seems to be out of touch with home life. Nothing could be worse for either woman when they switch lives.
This book feels so relevant for the modern mom culture or even what it means to find home and work life balance in general. Reading this could also be the best birth control ever.
If you haven't read an Amy Harms books before, I also quite enjoyed The Overdue Life of Amy Byler.
I did a #buddyread for this with @letstalkbookspromo. Thanks to Lake Union and NetGalley for the #gifted copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

I’m always a fan of surreal stories, where you have to suspend disbelief. So the premise of The Seven Day Switch was definitely up my alley before I even opened it! And what was inside was even better than what I was expecting. Even though the topic of switching minds has been done before, such as in Freaky Friday, Kelly Harms puts a fun and refreshing spin on it, while also emphasizing the importance of balance in one’s life. As soon as I read just one chapter, I knew I had to tell my friend who runs Balanced Working Moms on Facebook about it. And, of course, I knew this book would be perfect for Jenny and I was not only excited for her to read it, but also to review it together at her blog.

I really liked and identified with both Wendy and Celeste in different ways. I enjoyed seeing them navigate each others’ lives and the things they did to try to help each other out, even if it wasn’t always with the best of intentions. There was one part I didn’t agree with at first, but I’m glad it was recognized and hashed out between the two women. Wendy’s son reminded me so much of my younger son. (Even Celeste’s son was similar to him in some ways.) I think, personally, I am more of a Wendy. However, I am thankful to have a relationship with my husband and kids that is more on par with Celeste. There were a lot of great moments, as well as some humorous ones. It’s always tricky to write about one character living another character’s life, but Kelly did this flawlessly throughout the novel.

This was a sweet and touching story that I definitely recommend!

Movie casting suggestions:
Wendy: Piper Perabo
Celeste: Ginnifer Goodwin
Seth: Alexander Skarsgård
Davis: Sam Page
Hugh: James Roday Rodriguez
Ruthie: Mary Elizabeth Ellis

The Seven Day Switch is a recently released (July 1st) novel with a plot that “takes an unconventional and magical approach to illuminating the sisterhood that is motherhood.” Via a body swap, working mom Wendy and SAHM Celeste find a truce, then friendship and a peaceful end to the Mommy War that they have been waging. These women find that they actually have more in common than either thought!

Don’t get mad that I have given away the ending as this isn’t necessarily an original plot… I would definitely say that reading this novel is more about the journey, or what happens along the way, than it is about the outcome/ ending. It is funny and heartfelt and you’ll probably laugh out loud while reading it! Since I was a little behind, I did buy the audiobook to help me catch up and found it to be very well done snd enjoyable.

I am so sorry to say that I was not able to get into this book. I really enjoyed the author’s previous book, The Overdue Life of Amy Byler (5 stars for me!), so I had high hopes for The Seven Day Switch. I made it through the first 41% with full focus, and then skimmed the remainder of the story. The “Freaky Friday” theme felt too trite to me, and the minutiae of the lives of these two women did not interest me. I did enjoy a couple of chuckles prior to setting it down. I am hoping this author’s next book will be similar to TOLOAB!

Thank you very much to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the advanced reader’s copy of this book.

Y’all ever just read a book and laugh because damn, Alexa must have told them how wild your family is? That’s how I felt reading The Seven Day Switch. I glared at my Alexa multiple times and maybe once whispered, “I know what you did” because the insight to The Sligh Circus was spot on.

I loved this book! I started it yesterday and just finished it this morning. It was so nice to really see the ridiculous amount of stress all moms out on themselves, and realize there has to be a better way. Also, loved Hugh. Sweet Hugh. He truly cared for the well-being of his wife, and that will always win in my book.

Freaky Friday with some sangria is exactly what the doctor ordered. I loved seeing the differences in Celeste and Wendy, and I loved seeing them fake confidence only to find out in the next chapter it was all an act. Moms, y’all are all badasses, regardless if you’re working a 9-5, or a child wake up to child lay down.

Thank you so much Kate for the gifted copy. This came out the 1st and y’all, the banter is top notch and the story just makes it so much sweeter to know we’re not alone. ❤️

I can very much relate to this book. It's a simple "freaky friday" between two very different moms. It's a story between a working and a stay-at-home mom. In today's world, we as women sometimes unconsciously competing against one another, especially between moms who have a job outside of the house and the one who chooses to stay home. One does not have a harder job than the other and each has given up a lot to do what they do. This story touches on the core of this very argument. At times, the story can be light and fun, and at times it does hit deep on the problem. Each mom's character does have a very strong point of view before and after their switch. This helps give the reader who does not fall into this category of mom to get a nice sense of the struggle. For readers who are moms, a nice sense of understanding what they think and feel. The pace does not lag. It is very nicely written.

Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a fun Freaky Friday spin off! I loved the idea of a working mom and a stay-at-home mom switching bodies. I related to Celeste so much; the feeling of needing to do it all is very familiar to me. I loved the banter between Wendy and Celeste. I did have some issues with the way Wendy spoke about Celeste’s body and the SAHM shaming, and I realize that they needed to be complete opposites, but some of it just felt unnecessary.

Celeste’s husband, Hugh, was the perfect spouse and I felt so sad for Wendy because her husband was just awful. The way he treated his family as if they weren’t even there… just such a terrible person.

I read this book in two sittings - I could not put it down! This was a cute and quirky read, but it also dealt with some more serious topics. I think for mothers especially it will make you think about your role in your family.

Freaky Friday, mom style! What a fun idea for a book! Celeste and Wendy are two very different kinds of mom. Celeste stays home, makes organic and healthy meals, and judges Wendy for the busy lifestyle she has. Wendy juggles a busy job with trying to be involved with her kids, supplement for her mostly absent husband, and judges Celeste for her seemingly easy lifestyle. But when the two wake up in each other’s bodies, they will have to quickly figure out how to adapt to the other’s lifestyle. And that is NOT easy for either of them.

The beginning of this book had me cringing a lot. At the beginning, the two women seemed to make decisions for their children and spouses out of spite for each other and I did not love all of that narrative. However, around the middle of the book, the story really gets better in my opinion and I really liked the development of the characters and the children from there on out!

I would definitely recommend this to you if you are a mom or loved Freaky Friday!

Modern day freaky Friday. The two moms couldn't be more different when they switch their bodies. One a stay at home perfect pinterest mom, while the other runs her own business and is always just trying to stay one step ahead of what is going on. During the switch the moms eyes open up to what it's like to live the others life and realize its okay not to be perfect and that everyone is doing the best they can in their own family situation. Also learning they can lean on each other rather than constantly competing with one another.

I kindly received an eARC advance copy of this book to read and review though NetGalley.

This is the adult, mom-life version of the old Freaky Friday movie. In this version stay at home, Pinterest-worthy mom of three Celeste swops lives for a week with neighbour Wendy.

Wendy is a skinny, organisational guru with her own successful business, two kids and a attractive artist husband Seth. But things aren’t always as they seem.

After the swop, Wendy realises that stable Hugh, Celeste’s husband, really adores her and supports his family in ways that her own husband Seth just isn’t interested in.

Seth spends time working on his art but doesn’t produce and when he comes onto Celeste, Wendy realises how little is left of her marriage.

Wendy brings her bad habits into Celeste’s home and Celeste can see how some tv and non-organic food lightens things up a bit.

Celeste also gets a new appreciation for the business that Wendy has created from nothing, and how exhausting her life is.

Each woman works on bringing their own perspective to the other’s life, and tries to improve things. By the end of the week they are desperate to go back to their own lives, but a scary accident puts things into jeopardy. I enjoyed the writing, the thinking and the perspective this book brings. It’s a excellent read.

This book is a version of Freaky Friday where the Moms get swapped for a week. One was a proud stay at home mom and the other a Business women. Each in their own way thinking they were raising their kids in the best way they knew how. They pinned a lot of topics proclaiming why their chosen paths were the best way, however, deep down they wondered if they were doing right by their kids.

It was such a charming, endearing read and it’s a perfect book for all Moms, who wonder if there choices in life will affect how their kids function.

In the book, they realize that both working and SAHM, both loved their children and was able to be the best mom possible.

I completely related to this book because I have been both and for a fact I can tell you both roles are hard. Being a mom is hard work, no matter if you are home all day with them or you work outside the home.

Stay at home mom,Celeste, switches bodies with workaholic mom, Wendy. These two are neighbors and really just don’t understand each other. During this “freaky Friday” switch (which the author does give shout outs to in the book) each woman learns about each other, their children, their marriages, and themselves.

I LOVED this book. It was a wonderful blend of touching and laugh out loud.

Both characters are absolutely perfectly written as the extreme ends of working outside and inside the home.

Through this book, the lesson learned from me is that their are no right answers on what brings women happiness and fulfillment so don’t be judgey and be supportive of all our women tribe!!

The ending was absolutely lovely and made my heart happy!!

Why is mom shaming so real?!?! This book is the perfect response to that. As a working mom of two this book really outlined how there is no right way to parent. The freaky Friday twist and shout out made this such a laugh out loud experience. It was easy to myself as well as most of my mom friends either in Wendy or Celeste. They were a perfect character description of the most relatable mom types.

My favorite thing about this book was how it started out so funny and I thought it was going to just be a good laugh the whole read but it smoothly transitioned into a very deep heartfelt read. The bond these two formed surviving in each other's shoes proved that sometimes the grass isn't always greener on the other side and to never judge another mom or anyone for that matter because you don't know what they are dealing with or why they choose to work or be a stay ay home mom.

This may have been my first read by Kelly Harms but it for sure won't be my last. Now everytime I wake up with a hangover I am going to worry I switched bodies with another mom.

I loved this book so much! I grew up watching Freaky Friday and I loved that the book even mentions it! I could relate so much to both Celeste and Wendy. It really captures the struggle of many mothers and has a way a way of reminding us that we’re all just doing the best we can. And, I’m glad I’m married to a Hugh and not a Seth! People who don’t have kids may not be able to fully appreciate this book, but it would still be an enjoyable, numerous read. This was a book I didn’t know I needed to read; it made my mother heart feel so much better!

You guys, Kelly Harms nailed it AGAIN in The Seven Day Switch! {Thanks to the author and Amazon Publishing for the gifted copy.}

Getting to know the main characters Celeste and Wendy - moms who spew their judginess all over each other - was rocky for me at first. BUT the way I was so irritated was so perfectly REAL - I realized that I was judging THEM! Kelly Harms had worked her writing magic by pulling me into their emotions and showing the mommy hypocrite in me too! I was IN IT! Freaking brilliant.

By midway into their Freaky-Friday-esque body switching week, things really come together for each of them in their compassion for the others’ life choices. Add in some big shifts and emotional events that are just perfectly placed and you’ll be rooting hard for each (and pouring yourself a pink sangria).

Brava, Kelly Harms! Another hit and a must-add to everyone’s summer reading list! You HAVE to check out her backlist, too!

Imagine having a frenemy (heavy on the enemy part), being in a passive aggressive competition with her over who makes the best sangria for a potluck, drinking too much sangria, and waking up in her body in her bed next to her husband? And you find out she's in your body living your life. And you have to live each others lives and take care of each others' families. And you were always a little judge-y about how she was living her life and are that even though you would never choose her life you could definitely do it better than she could. All the while you're hoping she doesn't screw up your life.

Celeste and Wendy are put into this exact scenario. Wendy is a productivity consultant wit ha rapidly growing business and Celeste is a stay at home mom. Wendy is working at making the most out of every minute she has and Celeste is ensuring her kids have homemade organic everything.

I thoroughly enjoyed and related to this book. I think no matter where we are in life, we feel good about some things we do and wish we had a better handle on other things. This brought that concept into the forefront and it was great to watch the mom's grapple with priorities and reflect on the choices they make on how to spend their time. It's a fun, thought-provoking book!

This book was SO good. I laughed almost the entire time, there were so many moments where I could picture myself as either mom-even though I'm not a mom-the author did such a great job of helping the reader feel like she could be right there. A lighthearted, funny, quick read that is perfect for Summer.

Thanks to the author and Netgalley for my advanced ebook copy.
