Bo Alexander, Galveston Detective, is determined to to keep drugs off her island so when the Velours turn up on her island, Bo makes it her mission to take them down. Cass Halliburton, grew up with the Velours, the toughest outlaw bike club there is. Cass worked her way to 2nd in command so when there was an issue in Galveston she was sent there to rectify the problem and now has to deal with the georgeous detective.
The premise of this thriller had a real edge to it as did the chemistry between Bo and Cass. In fact their chemistry was off the charts and let's face it, this is the real reason for reading this book. The sub characters were also pretty cool, particularly Bo's boss. It's a no nonsense read with hot MC's and definitely worth your time.

Detective Bo has been through a lot she vows to keep people safe. Bo is assigned to a new task force who is investigating Cass who is second in command of her step-father organization who in town doing business with not so good people.

Their lives collide when Bo finds things aren’t adding up in the case and when she tumble onto something that more threatening then she can imagine. As the attraction between them heats up will they be able to see the danger.

This has everything I love in the book intrigue suspense forbidden love. Although I enjoy this read it some parts drag too long but other then that good read.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.

What do you do as someone carrying a police badge, sees someone that you're attracted to, trafficking in illegal activity? --- you're also haunted by her images but is scared of the threat of losing your badge because of any affair. What can or would you do? Well this is a part of the premise that Ms.Wilburn broach while compellingly weaving the rest of the storyline. For a debut 'A FAR BETTER THING' was very substantive and just an unbelievably intense story from the beginning then a wee bit too long in the middle but really dramatic at the ending.
Another brief snippet that i think will intrigue most interested readers is that first interaction between the two main characters (Cass & Bo). Cass, the step-daughter and second in command of her father's business and criminal organization -- who comes to the island (Galveston) and is seen meeting with a few important leaders of other notorious gangs which leads to many troubling situations that eventually sets off a range of investigations and put her on this collision course with the lead detective (Bo) with threats of her own to arresting Cass every chance she gets --- which might turn out to be more than both bargain for.
Additionally, 'A FAR BETTER THING' can be considered as a gritty, well-crafted, pulsating and sometimes well-paced crime thriller that's filled with both an audacious and unpredictable combination of sex, pluck, drugs, assortment of crimes, a variety of relationships and this enormous cast of rambunctious characters etc..
Overall, it end up being a battle between master/El Presidente/step-father and apprentice/daughter, detective and said daughter, law enforcement and criminal organizations, dirty cop and daughter -- a zero-sum contest/shoot-out that might only end with many deaths and some on the run.
