this was not only boring but also very unbelievable... i just didn't really get behind a lot of his ideas.

I wasn’t overly impressed with this book, I learnt a lot through reading it and found quite a lot of the content very interesting, but I felt like it was quite repetitive in certain places.

It's amazing what you can learn from the functional and this dysfunctional - and this book goes to prove the dysfunctional have a lot of insight to offer. Even if what they have to offer is a lesson in "don't do" rather than do.

It will help you identify the psychopaths in your life, and help you understand how their minds work, so you know how to pull their strings, just like they are trying to pull yours.

Insightful and interesting read.

I have read a book that was pretty similar to this one. But I really enjoyed this one as well. It was informative and I have learnt quite a couple of things I did not know before. All in all. I really liked this book, even though I already knew most of the stuff the book was talking about. It is interesting to know how different and still similar people write about the same topics...

I received a free ARC by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

So we all have some psychiatric tendencies? Did come as a surprise to me. Having worked in big business for many years I have encountered many psychopaths- usually near/at top of the company and many of whom have been sacked or let go.
This book looked at the scale of psychopathy and were different people sit along the scale.
I agree that society is more psychopathic than ever - particularly after the rise of Donald Trump - who was in politics purely for his own gains and not for the people. What was more scary was the number of people who bought into his messages - injecting bleach, etc.
An interesting and thought provoking read 4 Stars ⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for a fair review.

I'd read the previous edition of this book and found it fascinating. This updated edition is even more fascinating if you want to find out more about psychopaths and they way their minds work. The psychopaths in clear sight of us, living their lives is particularly chilling - a Must read

too technical and long winded for me. I found it tiresome and hard work.
Some of the content lacked substance and did not really say much.

Psychopaths are confident, ruthless, charismatic, focused and fearless, but not necessarily violent.

Author exposes the thesis that psychopaths are wise. Wisdom not in the traditional sense of the word, more as an innate, ineffable function of their being. They might sting us, but they might also save our lives. Either way, they most certainly have something to teach us.

Very interesting book, based on different examples. For all who like to explore society.

An interesting look into the world of psychopaths where Kevin Dutton explores what makes those members of society who do not turn to criminality, yet share some of the same pattern of scoring on the key diagnostic tools, differ from those studied in prison.

The book is accessible although at times labours points a little bit too forcibly for my tastes. I particularly enjoyed reading the section on saints though, eye-opening indeed.

It just goes to how that everyone has some insights and perspective to offer. This book breaks down the concept of psychopathy and looks beyond how it is used as a term to generalise and classify people in modern cultural references. This is an accessible book - no jargon, no technical grandstanding. I highly recommend it for people who like to explore what makes people tick and how we perceive others.
