This book gave me all the feels, it was emotional, heart warming funny and just completely divine!
It is told in the POV of three characters and each of the women have their own emotional problems that they are trying to overcome.

It takes a huge leap and a journey across the world along route 66 for them all to realise what is important to them and how to navigate their lives for the better.

The personalities of each of the main women compliment each other so well, from exuberant Kathleen, bubbly yet unconfident Martha and stressed Liza they all come together to help each other find their happiness and confidence, even when they don't realise it.

This is the second book I have read recently where the main protagonist is looking at her life and wondering what it has become and it makes me think about my own life and how we need to live every day to the fullest. You never know what lies around the corner and there is no place for regret.

Well done Sarah Morgan for tugging at my heart strings and leaving me feeling all warm and fuzzy after finishing this book. I want to be a summer seeker!

Many Thanks to Sarah Morgan and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book before being published in exchange for an honest review.
It is a book full of action, romance, love, family, and adventure.
I love the characters, Kathleen although she is 80 years old, she is very energetic and goes on a big adventure with Martha, twenty something and in a terrible life crisis, who she just met. And I love the sense of humour in their dialogues. Also, how they care about each other although they just met recently.
They share a road trip across the Route 66 in America and around all the travelling you get to know them, plus Kathleen´s daughter, Liza, who all she wants is to put her mother in a care home.
Along the road trip not only you know what happened in Kathleen and Martha life during the past, but also you discover the unhappy life of Liza to the point that she takes advantage of her mother´s empty house to scape from a marriage where everything depends on her. Her husband and 2 grown up daughters are so used to have all the problems solved by her that they start panicking when they realise that her mum is not coming back after feeding her mum´s cat. It is another journey, but special one about marriage, living together and all you have to give but to what extent?
It is a very quick and enjoyable read, all the characters are loveable. If you want to laugh and get a bit sentimental by the end of the book, this is the book right for you.
I will definitely be reading more books by Sarah Morgan.

A road trip becomes a journey of self-discovery as three women of different generations are forced to examine their lives. When 80-year-old Kathleen decides to fulfill her bucketwish list of travelling Route 66 from Chicago to California, her daughter Liza is horrified, Undeterred, Kathleen engages the driving services of a young woman, Martha, and sets off on her biggest adventure! Told from the different viewpoints of Kathleen, Martha and Liza, the narrative explores the different issues in their lives - Kathleen's never come to terms with the betrayal of a close friend, leaving her unable and unwilling to fully trust anyone with her emotions - not even Liza.
Liza, in turn, deeply affected by her mother's seeming coldness and ability to disengage, has become a helicopter mother, but is now taken for granted by her husband and daughters, and is in danger of losing her own identity.
Undervalued by her family and her ex, Steven, Martha is a seething mass of insecurities underneath her bright and breezy exterior.
With three such engaging characters, this story couldn't fail to enthrall, even without the setting of Route 66 - so familiar in popular culture, yet always with something new to offer ... gorgeous scenery, great food, friendly folk, and even, in Martha's case, a chance for some romance!
This heartwarming story of the importance of family relation offers fun, excitement, adventure and even a hint of danger as it takes us along on Kathleen, Liza and Martha's emotional roller-coaster ride. It emphasises the importance of being true to yourself and to your dreams, and of never turning your back on opportunities - whether you choose to travel Route 66 or stay at home, you can still take control of your life journey.

I have read a few of Sarah Morgan’s books and this might be my favourite. While it follows a fairly predictable plot, what sets it apart is it’s lessons on relationships - not romantic ones but ones with friends and relatives. It genuinely taught me a lot about the influence of the past on people’s lives even decades later, and it taught me that while sometimes people won’t change, just having a bit more understanding of the past and of people’s behaviours can make a huge difference - and it’s never too late.

The plot revolves around the story of three women - Kathleen has just turned 80 and, following an incident with an intruder decides life is too short and plans an epic road trip across America...but why has she chosen America and Route 66? And why has she always been so distant from her daughter Liza? In addition to her ageing but stubborn mother, Liza has her own problems - a husband who she once loved but who now pays more attention to his work and twin daughters who treat her like a servant. And with this trip her mother plans on taking, it causes more headaches for Liza. Fortunately for them all, Martha answers Kathleen’s advert for a driver to take her on her trip. But given her own issues, not least her lack of experience with driving, who will be helping who..

As I said, there are many aspects of the plot that are fairly predictable but the characters are all warm, funny and relatable. And Morgan’s writing style is so easy to read and her descriptions of the locations, particularly Cornwall, were so vivid and made me want to be there with the characters! It was also wonderful to read a book of this style where the main focus was on relationships between women. Yes it focused on romance too but it was lovely to see strong women supporting each other.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Provided by NetGalley for an honest review.

This was such a quick read! I was engrossed from the beginning and hated putting it down. This is a fabulous story of 3 women and their differences, yet also coming to the realisation how similar they actually are. Everyone has a way of doing things. Living life. How we tackle it shapes us, our choices, our decisions. But also, we are all affected by outside influences, be they family, friends, pets etc. It all shapes us as people and this book brings all of that together in a wonderful story. I related to all 3 women and I loved them all equally. I hope to carry forward many of their traits and live life to the fullest.

I different kind of coming-of-age story and one I will be recommending to everyone!

A few books ago, I added Sarah Morgan to my preferred authors list. Authors whose books I want to read, irrespective of reviews. I am not regretting that decision as The Summer Seekers took me from lockdown blues to the joys of Route 66.
As the synopsis explains, this story is a crossroads for the three female characters. Kathleen, the former TV travel anchor, her married and seemingly uptight daughter, Liza and lovely Martha who takes a leap of faith to avoid moving back in with her parents.
As Kathleen and Martha embark on their adventure, Liza faces up to the fact that she feels taken for granted. Acting on the spur of a moment, she heads to Cornwall to look after her mother’s cat. As she examines her life, will she be able to find her way back to her family or will she be drawn to her mother’s handsome neighbour.
The story takes us on a path of discovery as the three women reflect on their lives and analyse what they most want to gain from their current circumstances. The friendship that develops between Kathleen and Martha is the catalyst that generates change for them all. Liza has felt estranged from her mother and, quite simply unloved. Kathleen has deeply buried secrets that have driven her to ignore the love that surrounds her, and Martha realises that she needs to take some risks if she’s ever to find true happiness.
Sarah Morgan has created a story that flows almost effortlessly, the timeline is clear, and the book shares its magic gently with each turn of the page. I am sure that the ease of the story is a true reflection on the writer’s craft.
Escaping to Route 66, via Cornwall, was just what this bookworm needed and I highly recommend the trip!

Another fabulous read. We start our story with Kathleen an 80 year old fun loving lady who lives by the coast next door to a musician where all the women flock there and Kathleen sends then elsewhere. Hahahaha.
Kathleen doesn't have the best loving relationship with her only daughter due to bad experiences from her past. Kathleen decides to do a road trip on the original route 66 but requires a driver that will take her. Martha applies and gets the job withholding her driving isn't the best.
Kathleen daughter is unhappy with how her life has turned out and runs home whilst Kathleen is off touring USA she unwinds and so does Kathleen.
There's a love interest for Martha, there's a friendship earned with Martha and Kathleen and liza fix their relationship between some old secrets and letters. Kathleen tours everywhere and sees some amazing places.
Loved the characters love the drive and how well they got on..brilliant book.

After reading and loving A Wedding in December last Christmas, I knew I needed to experience more books by Sarah Morgan and fast! So when I got an email about The Summer Seekers, I instantly requested an early read.

An absolutely delightful and heartfelt read, The Summer Seekers is a warm and exciting story with lovable characters and an inspirational journey.

It did take me a while to really love the story as we are presented with the characters' flaws at the beginning, so it takes a while to see what path they want to take and whether you want to follow them. But just like A Wedding in December, Morgan perfectly captures the emotions of her characters and I was desperate for a good outcome for them all.

By the end, I loved Liza, Martha, and Kathleen and felt so happy for them all. I especially connected to Liza who is drowning under the daily stress of family life. When you're a wife and a mother, it's so easy to become overwhelmed by everybody else's needs and struggle to find time for your own, so I really related to Liza on a personal level. But I love how her relationship with her husband progressed and that it didn't succumb to any cliches.

And although Kathleen takes a trip to America, it is the Cornish setting that will have you dreaming of the beach and the feel of the sand between your toes. The Summer Seekers is the perfect summer read, and for every other season come to think of it.

The Summer Seekers by Sarah Morgan Pub Date 27/5/21
Kathleen is eighty years old. After a run-in with an intruder, her daughter wants her to move into a residential home. She's not having any of it. What she craves – needs – is adventure.
Liza is drowning under the daily stress of family life. The last thing she needs is her mother jetting off on a wild holiday, making Liza dream of a solo break of her own.
Martha is having a quarter-life crisis. Unemployed, unloved and uninspired, she just can't get her life together. But she knows something has to change.
When Martha sees Kathleen's advert for a driver and companion to take an epic road trip across America, she decides this job might be the answer to her prayers—travelling with a stranger? No problem. She's not the world's best driver, but it couldn't be worse than living with her parents again. And anyway, how much trouble can one eighty-year-old woman be?
As these women embark on the journey of a lifetime, they all discover it's never too late for adventure…
This story is so well-written, you can feel the sun on your face and the breeze in your hair.
I appreciated the interaction between the delightful characters and that each one added something individual and special to the story.
Sarah Morgan has done what she does so well, produced another feel-good, light-hearted, entertaining, summery read.
I am happy to recommend it.
I want to thank NetGalley, HQ and author Sarah Morgan for a pre-publication copy to review.

Wow!! I loved this book!!!
Kathleen gets a wake up call when there is an intruder in her cottage one night, she is 81 and rather than being vulnerable she is up for an adventure of the travelling kind. Road trip!!!
Liza's life revolves around her husband and twin teenage girls, with no space for herself.
Martha is divorced and jobless by her mid twenties and feeling hopeless.
The emotional journeys of these ladies is set out brilliantly, the characters are realistic and loyal. Sensitive and insightful of the journeys we go through in life with friends and family.
Feel good, intelligent writing, this is inspirational reading!
Definitely in my top 3 books this year.
Highly recommended
Thank you to NetGalley for the early read.

This book is amazing! I started reading it and thought it was going to be a funny, light hearted read. But I was wrong! Not only is it funny and light hearted but it is also amazingly insightful and touching in regards to human emotion and relationships.

The story follows three women - Kathleen, who is 80 and still adventurous! Liza, Kathleen’s daughter, who always felt disconnected from her mother. And Martha, who is young, and unsure of where her life is going.

The three stories intertwine beautifully and highlight how we often make assumptions that are not in fact correct. The three women learn a lot about each other and themselves and learn that balance is an important thing in life!

Touching and tender as well as laugh out loud funny, these women will take you into their lives and challenge your views on everything!

What an amazing quick, light-hearted read though some parts were quite heavy. I felt i could connect with the characters and loved reading about them growing and how their friendship doesn't have an age limit and how the main character helped the younger girls grow. I love Sarah Morgan books and was so excited to have been given this as a ARC and I am so glad i have read this already. I could not put this down and I will be telling all my bookish friends to pick this book up and will suggest it as our summer book club read.

The Summer Seekers by Sarah Morgan is the most charming contemporary novel showing you are never too old to have the trip of a lifetime.
The novel is a journey of discovery – literally as the characters drive across America on route 66 and also internally as characters unlock and realise their full potential.
Life has dealt some cruel hands. In order to protect oneself a character locked up her heart, letting no one in. Unfortunately she also locked life out, failing to build the most important relationships. The walls need to come down. Another character has been hemmed in by life, so busy doing things for others that life is passing her by. And a third has been constrained by the views and words of others. As The Summer Seekers progresses it is beautiful to witness characters bud and blossom.
The lead character is eighty years old and full of life. She is forthright and funny, having some wonderful verbal exchanges with her twenty five year old co-pilot. As they travel the highway, their lives reflect the open road.
We see some very different parenting – some very hands on, some very hands off. Both have their advantages and flaws.
The fresh Cornish air contrasts with the stifling London life where hopes and dreams have been squashed. The sea air re-ignites.
Grief and loss hurt. They remain down the years as a character regrets what might have been.
The Summer Seekers is a deliciously fun novel focusing on opening up the lives of three women. I always adore Sarah Morgan’s novels but this is my favourite so far.
I received a free copy of the book from Harper Collins via Net Galley. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

What a great book well written heart-warming and emotional with loads of humour, just couldn`t put it down.

Kathleen is 80 and used to be a travel presenter when younger, married at 40 she left her husband to bring up her daughter Lisa while she travelled around for her TV show.
Lisa thinks her mother should be downsizing from her large seaside house to a retirement home but Kathleen has other ideas and wants to travel route 66 in a Cadillac but needs a driver. After advertising for a driver along comes Martha who`s 25, scared of driving and getting over a bad marriage.

The banter between Kathleen and Martha is fantastic, so full of humour that makes you chuckle throughout their journey and the love between them as they get to know each other and share their lives.
Would definitely recommend this book

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A lovely feel good read, I got such a positive vibe from this. It really did put a smile on my face, although I did get a bit emotional at the end.
It's never too late to have the trip of a lifetime, and definitely never to late to live your life to the fullest. I loved the big dream, small dream idea - sometimes the smallest changes can have the biggest impact.

A really warming, heartfelt story. I loved the range of characters, with Kathleen as my favourite. The descriptions of Cornwall and America were so well written, you felt like you were there! A lovely summer beach read.

What a wonderful story. The interwoven stories of the 3 women was a total joy to read. I think Sarah Morgan gets better and better with every book she writes. I had tears in my eyes in the final few pages and felt very caught up in the story. A total joy to read. The only part I felt was unnecessary was the inclusion of Finn. He really added nothing to the story I felt.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read a preview copy of this wonderful book.

I love a good Sarah a Morgan novel and The Summer Seekers certainly lived up to expectations.

Kathleen is eight and lives alone in Cornwall. After a run in with an intruder in the middle of the night, her daughter Liza wants her to move to a residential home. But what Kathleen wants is adventure. As a former travel presenter, she’s desperate to travel again, in particular Route 66 so hires Martha to drive her.

Martha is having her own crisis. She’s unemployed, unloved and uninspired, could this trip be just what she needed?

Liza meanwhile has her own issues. She feels taken for granted by her family and craves adventure of her own by herself.

I adored this book. It has such wonderful characters who you feel you really get to know throughout the chapters. The plot flows well and you’re totally drawn into this novel of love, family, friendship and adventure.

Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and the author for the chance to review.

Thank you HQ and NetGalley for the advanced copy of The Summer Seekers.

I’ve read many Sarah Morgan books, and have come to enjoy her stand alone books a fair bit! This one was a fairly easy read but had enough going on that it held my attention.

I liked how we had Liza’s character develop at the same time as Martha. I really liked Kathleen’s character, witty and essentially wild for her age.

I would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, summery, romance novel.
