Although it was a pleasant enough read, I personally didn't fall in love with this book.

I do however appreciate the authors writing style, and do believe others will find themselves more invested in this story.

If this was a take on 'War of the Roses', it sadly misses the mark, unfortunately. Naomi is a totally cringe-worthy and unsympathetic character who expects to get away with all her lies and just being awful because, what, the things she does and the way she thinks are 'cute'?
This sounded a lot like a feud gone super epic 'bad' wrong on the school playground, or at worst in high school. Couldn't believe these were two adults with education and degrees behaving like immature kids!
Unfortunately, did not enjoy it at all. What was supposed to be funny was cringe-worthy at best and ruse and unforgiving at worst

This book started pretty good but it didn’t keep me hooked. There were times I just didn’t want to bother reading the story however I forced myself to it and I am glad I did as I did enjoy the book overall. It’s probably because some parts dragged on.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for sending me an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This is a contemporary adult romance about Naomi and Nicholas, an engaged couple who find themselves tired of each other and wanting to cancel their wedding. But neither of them wants to foot the bill for calling it off (and they also don't want to lose social standing with their friends and families), so they begin a series of prank wars to attempt to get the other person to concede defeat (and call it off).

I liked the cosy small town vibes in this story and Naomi's friends were lovely and supportive. I also liked the way the narrative challenged body shaming and fatphobia from Nicholas's mother. But, on the whole, I found the pranks and sabotages pretty childish and this spoiled the story (a bit) for me.

The pranks were probably supposed to come across as funny and light-hearted (and a few were), but most just seemed pointless or silly to me, which meant that I never fully warmed up to the main characters. As a result, I wasn't really invested in their eventual reconciliation and the rekindling of their romance, so the majority of the book fell flat for me.

In general, I've found that I just don't get on with pranks/tricks/sabotage and bickering in adult romance novels. So I think this is more of a me issue than a general issue with the book, and if that aspect of enemies-to-lovers doesn't bother you then you'll likely enjoy this.

Content warnings for emotional manipulation, loss of job security, fatphobia, and body shaming.

I really tried to get into this book, as one of my most anticipated contemporary romances, I wanted to love it. Unfortunately it just wasn't for me.

I didn't love the writing style, I just didn't find it funny like a lot of other readers did. I wasn't the biggest fan of Naomi or Nicholas, there was zero chemistry and their relationship was so toxic that I wasn't routing for them to be together in the end at all. I usually love a good enemies to lovers romance but this one just didn't work for me.

I definitely understand why people love this one! Unfortunately, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

It’s taken me a little while to get round to reading this book, but I’m glad I did. It was a fun enjoyable read.

The characters were well written and the tension between them was palpable, I loved the oneupmanship and games.

I would read this author again!

Who gave Sarah Hogle the right to THIS RAW WRITING TALENT and it's ONLY HER DEBUT?!?!?!

Also currently crying because I don't have a fiancé to reconnect with and wants to win me back and we get married and live happily ever after.

Oops sorry didn't mean to bum anyone out...

You all were right. This book is as cute as I had hoped and also kind of genius, just saying. Like Ms Hogle blended second-chance romance, enemies to lovers and also kinda forced proximity. Hello queen?? I bow down before you.

Let's just dive right into how incredible the writing is. I'm seriously so shocked that this a DEBUT?! How?? It's SO good wtf. Sarah Hogle is an absolute whiz with humour. There are a lot of books that I've said are witty and funny, but with this one, the writing itself is absolutely HILARIOUS. I'm not entirely sure how to explain it but you'll know if you've read the book. There are just layers upon layers of humour and sarcasm and I am literally just blown away with Sarah's impeccable writing.

On top of that, our narrator, Naomi, is just absolutely brilliant. If I had to find a character that had exactly my sense of humour, she would be it. We are the same person methinks. So so so related to her character. We also love male beans and dorks, so Nicholas was also amazing. These two characters are just absolutely wonderful and I would like the movie now please and thank you xoxo

The romance was so much fun and I loved their dynamic. I think their progression was wonderful and the plot didn't feel rushed at all. I loved how this book focused on miscommunication and learning how to correct mistakes you've made in the past. The pranks were absolutely brilliant. Some serious LOL ones ahahah. Seriously WHAT other books are doing it like she is? It's just so unique and omg I LOVED IT SO MUCH *insert heart eyes*

Ugh also just so many cute moments I WANT TO SCREAM THEY'RE SO ADORABLE!

I think my only qualm was that it could have been longer to develop a few loose ends. For instance, it would have been great to get a bit more backstory of the BEFORE part of their relationship. I also kinda wanted an epilogue?

But overall, this book was just delightful. I sped through it in 24 hours and have just been thinking about it ever since. You Deserve Each Other is absolutely worth the hype and a fantastic debut adult romance. Read for serotonin, you won't regret.

I loved this unique romance. Normally the romance I read are enemies to lovers, but this was lovers to enemies to lovers and it was brilliant. I loved the mind games they played on each other and how you could see them falling back in love with each other no matter what they did. It was beautifully written and I loved it so much.

Hilarious, romantic, witty, addictive. That’s how I would describe You Deserve Each Other, the fantastic novel by Sarah Hogle. I had so much fun reading this novel, I often had tears in my eyes from laughing. The two protagonists, Naomi and Nicholas, are amazing. I adored them and their story.

Naomi and Nicholas have been together for two years. They live together and they are about to get married, but Naomi is not as excited as she should be about the wedding. His parents are paying for it and his overbearing mother is choosing everything from the flowers and the food to her wedding dress and the bridesmaids. Also, she is not sure if she still loves Nicholas, but there is no way that she is going to be the one to break it off. When she finds out that Nicholas is not so thrilled about the wedding either, they start a war and play games and pranks on each other to push the other to end the relationship.

Even though at the beginning I found the two protagonists a tiny bit annoying, I quickly grew to love them and I rooted for them and their story. Both Naomi and Nicholas felt authentic and I enjoyed their wit and their bickering and I couldn’t put the book down.

You Deserve Each Other has everything a great rom-com needs: there is a lot of humor and a lot of romance. The characters are incredible and likable (except, of course, for the villain future mother-in-law), and the writing is addictive. I can’t wait to read more from this author. Highly recommended!

At first I couldn't get into the book but persevered and am so glad I did, made me laugh at some of the stunts they pulled on each other in the hope that person would call off the wedding so they wouldnt have to. I won't spoil it except to say there is a happy ending

Naomi and Nicholas are 3 months away from their wedding. After 2 years together, they have become unhappy, resentful shells of themselves. The only thing is, whoever pulls out of the wedding would be responsible for the non-refundable bill.

The two of them stop pretending and start showing their true colours to get a response from the other. And what follows is a funny tale of hijinks that at times reminded me of The Twits! I laughed out loud a few times and loved seeing the chemistry between them. A really enjoyable read!

The story or Naomi and Nicholas. Stuck in a relationship where neither of them seems to be happy and with their wedding coming up Naomi is determined that it will be Nicholas that leaves here so she is not left paying for the wedding. As they start a battle will she get her way?

A fun and entertaining read. I would have liked more of an epilogue.

A cute romcom that helps you escape from real life for a few hours taking you on the journey of lovers to enemies to lovers again.

I did find it hard to connect with the characters at the start, but I warmed up to them and the last part of the book was what clawed it back for me.

I found this a really interesting take on the "hate to love" trope, and enjoyed watching Naomi and Nicholas' relationship rekindle. Unfortunately, I did find it quite hard to connect with the love story in this book as Naomi and Nicholas clearly can't stand each other. I wish there were some flashbacks to show us how they fell in love, and to portray some happier times between the two.

Also, there were some formatting issues with my file that made the book difficult to read.

I couldn't put this book down! The characters were actually more developed than I thought they would be, and even though some parts were a little cliche it was a really easy going, enjoyable read.

I ended up really enjoying this fun twist on the enemies to lovers trope - in this case, Naomi and Nicholas are engaged so it is more a case of lovers to enemies to lovers as they ultimately rediscover why they fell in love in the first place. The problem for me is that if I hadn't read so many good reviews for this I suspect I would have given up on this book quite early on - whilst I realise it was intentional, the characters are both initially so unlikeable that I found it hard to get past that.

But fortunately I persevered and the book became a sweet and very funny one, as Naomi and Nicholas reconnected, started communicating and rediscovered the chemistry that had brought them together initially. Hogle injects lots of humour into the book and by the end you are rooting for Naomi and Nicholas. I enjoyed Hogle's writing style and look forward to seeing what she writes next.

This book is brilliant, I enjoyed it so much and it has quickly become a firm favourite. I became completely absorbed in the storyline and the characters and didn’t stop until I’d finished. It is so compelling and hilariously funny and I barely paused for breath.

Naomi and Nicholas are the perfect couple on social media and in public, but in reality their life is a little more complicated. They are due to get married on 26 January but their relationship has lost its spark and neither wants to be the one to end it. A game of cat and mouse ensues, they try to goad each other and play silly childish pranks to coerce each other into ending the relationship. I was totally rooting for them and their relationship all the way through the storyline.

The characters felt real and I connected with all of them, apart from Deborah who really was a nightmare potential mother in law. The main characters in particular are a joy to read about and I adored them. The humour is top notch and I loved the wit and the little quips in their dialogue and crazy bickering, it’s been quite some time since a book made me laugh so much. The combination of humour and romance is perfectly balanced, Nicholas is so droll and this combined with Naomi’s dry sense of humour and sparks flew and both of them together was hugely entertaining and the banter was delightful. Lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers, is such a refreshing change and an interesting spin on the enemies-to-lovers trope.

I definitely need to read more of this author’s books, I adored her writing style. I had so much fun reading this and I immediately wanted to read it again when I’d finished!

Thank you to Piatkus via Netgalley for the eARC of this fabulous book.

I think this may be my book of the year. I mean I’m reading it in January so I might be getting ahead of myself but I must say I really did enjoy this one.

Now I will admit I had a rocky start with the characters and actually just kept wanting them to split up and be done with it all. This story really does teach you how communication is really important in relationships and when it breaks down you really have nothing left.

Watching both Naomi and Nicholas grow and actually get to know one another as the story progressed really made this a great story for me and I went from really disliking them to having a soft spot for them, especially Nicholas. I did think that Naomi really took him for granted at times. I did notice that he fixed her flat tire for her and she just found fault with it.

Anyway all I have left to say is I loved it when it all came together and left me with a bit of a book hangover.

Highly recommend
