I would never have guessed this was a book on Yoga. The fly keeps landing on Mula disrupting her dreams of tumbling and standing on her head. The fly tells Mula if she does yoga she can accomplish these things. This story really works. It was a fun read if a tad long, but the illustrations are so vibrant and colorful that you don’t mind. You want to keep reading to see what happens next.

My daughter is 3 and loves yoga, she described this as "HAPPY! Happy yoga book!" It's a lovely story and comes beautifully illustrated. I like that it has Mula's yoga flow, which is clear and easy for little ones to follow. I think we will be returning to this book again and again.

Mula and the Fly is an adorable story with engaging illustrations that will captivate the young readers. As a kindergarten teacher, I love books that encourage mindfulness and provide strategies to help regulate our bodies and minds. This book does exactly that. I love how the last couple pages include Mula's Flow, where readers can practice and participate with the characters. I will definitely be adding this book to my classroom library when it becomes available.

Mula the tiger is pretty grumpy when a fly wakes him up from a fantastic dream. He is moving around and having fun. It gets interesting and hilarious when fly convinces Mula Yoga is the way to live out his dreams.

My grandchildren enjoy Yoga with their mothers and they are always showing me the new poses that they have learned. How fun would it be to learn Yoga from a fly and a tiger! I would say it would be great fun with lots of laughs and energy! Highly recommend.

My daughter and I loved this cute children's book about a tiger called Mula who is approached by a fly and encouraged to start doing yoga breathing and yoga poses. This is a great book to introduce children to yoga. My daughter loved doing the yoga poses and breathing exercises and we had a lot of fun with this book. Mula and the fly are funny and delightful and the illustrations in the book are bright and colourful.

A really nice colourful basic introduction to Yoga for young children. My daughters aged 6 and 5 do a small amount of yoga at school so know the basic poses, this book has acted as a reminder of what they have learnt and they love to join in. At the end of the book we have 'Mula's Flow' with five illustrated yoga poses to practice with a description beside each one. Great colourful illustrations of Mula on each page and I would say perfect for 5-9s.

Pros:

- Fun, vibrant pictures.
- I appreciate that Mula struggles to get the breathing and positions down instead of just getting them right away because that's what children experience when starting out in Yoga.
- Kept my 8-year-old bonus daughter and myself engaged.

Cons:

- Amazon states the book is for 4 to 6-year-olds but due to the length of the book, the 5-year-old I babysit had a hard time keeping focus for the last part of the book.

Would I recommend it?

Yes but for an older age group (6-9).

What a fun book! Moreover we need a little stretch in the house during the lock down, aren't we? So Mula was disturbed by a little fly who then urged her to stretch a bit, control her breathing and do some yoga moves. What she found as an annoying process at the beginning, become fun when she can achieved her dreams.

Mula and the Fly by Lauren Hoffmeier tells the story of a sleepy tiger named Mula who is awakened from a dream by a fly. Mula is initially angered because the fly interrupted Mula’s dreams of how she could move her body while dreaming. The fly teaches Mula proper breathing techniques and then shows her how she can move her body. Mula is able to follow the fly’s instructions and learns to love yoga. The book also shows simple yoga moves for children.
As a classroom teacher, this would be perfect to use in the classroom for a brain break/ movement break. As a special education teacher, I especially enjoyed teaching the tiger how to breathe. I have students who get upset and one of the things we work on is focusing on breathing to help calm down and refocus. This is definitely something that I would add to my classroom library to help with behavior.

A super cute children's book that focuses on breathing and yoga movement hidden in plain sight by the fun story of Mula and the fly. I read this with my 6 year old daughter and she thought it was really fun and playful. I found the story to be really cute, how all the moves that Mula had done had helped her accomplish something she'd only dreamt about. The illustrations were also wonderful. They were colorful and engaging and just really fun to look at. This was an awesome book to read and to try in the end. This book would make a great addition to children's libraries and a fun opener to learning yoga. I'd easily recommend this to friends and families.

Mula is a very tired tiger. She loves her snooze time. One day she is awakened by a pesky fly which interrupts her dream where she was tumbling, hopping and even standing on her head. She is angry that her dream is disturbed and swats the fly away. The fly is determined to stay around and she tells Mula that all those things she was attempting to do in her sleep she could achieve in real life. Mula dismisses that idea as ludicrous. But the pesky fly doesn't give up and finally teaches Mula that she CAN do all those things if she focuses on her breathing and follows through with the actions.

Skeptical, Mula takes the fly's advice and guess what? She is astounded to discover that she can indeed perform all those amazing moves that beforehand were only in her dreams. What she is doing is called... yoga! Putting yoga into practice in her life she now has more energy, better health and more happiness. She is so thrilled that she wants the fly, who now is her friend, to teach everyone she knows the same lessons, to which the fly agrees.

This book is a perfect introduction to teach yoga to little ones. The illustrations are fantastic. They are full of humour, activity and expression. Kids will adore them and probably want to try the suggested positions themselves. The book is inspirational for both young ( and old ). I highly recommend it.

What a wonderful fun introduction to yoga for little ones. My daughter loved it and had lots of fun trying out each pose. The focus on breathing and listening to your heart has really helped to teach my daughter ( and myself) to focus. A truly wonderful book.

Mula and the Fly is a fun story that works on breathing and focus when beginning yoga. I think this would be a cute way to introduce yoga to a toddler. The illustrations are bright and lively. Mula and the Fly is a perfect addition to any little ones library.

Thanks netgalley for the arc!!! My toddler loved it and so did I!! We have added it to her birthday list since her birthday is in June! It was a fun story that involved her and taught her basic yoga moves in a fun interactive way.

This is a charming little story about a little fly who introduces a big tiger to yoga. I love the combination of a big animal and a tiny insect. All Mula the tiger wants to do is to sleep and dream about hopping, tumbling, and standing on her head. She is continually pestered by a little fly who tries to persuade her that if she can focus on her breathing she’ll be able to do all those things when she’s awake. Eventually she does, of course! The illustrations are beautiful (I especially like the one where Mula is dizzy, and has one eye looking up and the other looking down). One of the nicest things about this story book is the section at the end, where children can practise the activities and movements themselves. My young grandchildren will love this book, and although I’ve never been interested in yoga myself I’m tempted to follow the instructions and give it a go! Delightful!

This book was beyond adorable. I was so amazed by the fun cartoon like illustrations and the story was so brilliantly constructed. We have a lot of children visit the library and they love books where there is activity and movement which help bring the book to life. They will also love the funny and colorful illustrations which will attract them to this book. I can definitely see a fun program evolving from this book and I can not wait to see the smiles on their faces and for them begging their parents to checkout this book.

We will consider adding this title to our Picture Book collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

This is a fun and bright story about Mula, a tiger who learns yoga and balance from a fly! Funny premise, but the story works. The illustrations are colourful and engaging. The story shows readers the benefits of slowing down and focusing. I loved the yoga moves included at the end, its a nice way to tie the story together and get us up and moving. This is a fun book for introducing yoga to children, and is a good addition to a classroom collection focusing on minfudlness and wellness.

This is a good picture-book introduction to breathing well and doing a few basic yoga poses. I was expecting more poses to go along with the story, but that is not what this book is all about. Instead, this book teaches focus and breathing. While I wouldn't buy this book, I would check it out from the local library and do it with my kids.

Mula is a sleepy, slightly grumpy tiger who dreams of standing on her head. Fly comes along to tell her she CAN do the things she dreams of doing by focusing on her breath and practicing yoga. A skeptical Mula attempts to learn from Fly in a cute yoga story about listening to your heart and your breath. The illustrations are lovely and the picture book is a great story for younger kids about yoga practice and breathing and trying new things. We enjoyed this story about persistence and patience.
