The Stalker by Sarah Alderson newlyweds Liam and Laura are going on honeymoon to a remote island in Scotland. It's meant to be a secluded, relaxing time but before long they realize they are not alone and someone wants them gone or worse.

For the first part of the book we learn about the island, the terrain, the cliffs, the water, the weather. The descriptions really help set the tone. We also learn about the history of the island and the family who has owned it. It was a little lengthy but it helps set the narrative

Soon enough creepy things begin happening and the sense of danger and isolation steadily increases. Who is stalking them and what do they want? Why is it all happening? It is a very twisty read on the way to finding out.

I recommend The Stalker and Sarah Alderson's last book.

Absolutely nothing is as it seems with this book, and just as you think you have figured the plot line out, the author surprises you again! It was well written, and I can't wait for the next book! Recommended.

Ooooo now who doesn't love a creepy and atmospheric thriller?

Set on a remote Scottish island you can literally feel the emptiness surrounding you and the feel of eyes catching you!

This was definitely a slow burner, which usually really annoys me to be honest but for some reason that slow burn really added to the whole storyline, it dragged you into the darkness with it and kept you there.

The twists and turns were brilliantly done and the ending!!!! No spoilers 🙈

I didn't particularly connect with the characters but the suspense within the book made up for that.

I won't go into any details as this one would be easy to spoil but all I can say is persevere, get through the first 1/4 and you wont be able to put it down!

Big thank you to netgalley and Avon Books UK for the ARC.

Slow burning, not mind altering but a pretty quick little read. Liked the writing style but part 1 was very blah and the second and third parts were soo much better.
Glad that I pushed through. Thanks NG for this ARC!

I just loved this book lots of twists and turns and I really got engaged in the story, this was a definite page turner as I needed to find what happened next. Very interesting setting, loving books that add the setting as a character.

Fully recommend this author never falls to deliver

I was given a copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own.

Fast-paced, action-packed and suspenseful psychological thriller.

Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on a remote island off the coast of Scotland. They shake off comments from locals about the island being haunted. But with more and more things going wrong, their dream holiday is quickly becoming a nightmare with no way to leave.

I don't want to give too much away but this is a great read.

A remote 'haunted' Scottish island, no wifi or phone coverage or even a way to reach the mainland until you are picked up again in a weeks time. Add in storms, electricity outages and a stalker and you have the makings of a creepy and atmospheric novel that builds and builds until the the last third of the book when everything you thought you knew is blown out of the water.

This is the first book I have read by Sarah Alderson and I will certainly be looking out for more from her.

Highly recommended!

Wowzers- what a book! This was a spooky read that had me turning the pages like crazy. I don't want to give much away because you have to read it to believe it! When the twist hit me, I audibly gasped and was so pleased with how everything fell into place. Cannot wait to read more by this author in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley, Sarah Alderson, and HarperCollins for this E-ARC in exchange for an honest review. Go pick this one up guys, you absolutely will not regret it!

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon books and Sarah Alderson for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I was well and truly go smacked by this book. It takes the phrase ‘expect the unexpected’ to a whole new level. This book is full of twists and turns - much to my delight. This is a fantastic psychological thriller. It had me gripped by the first chapter. It is dark, scary and makes you want to check your doors are locked. It was outstanding. I don’t want to go into too much detail and risk a spoiler.

On the surface, the plot seemed good but the rendering was not exactly what I expected and I couldn’t warm up to any of the characters.
All in all, the idea was good but, until about 2/3 of the book when the plot began to more sense and the who’s who came out. That was one of the reasons it took me a long time to get through the book.

Newlyweds Liam and Laura are spending their honeymoon on a remote island off the coast of Scotland, a perfect romantic getaway. They soon discover all is not what it seems and the island has a tragic past, and they can’t shake the feeling that they are being watched. One morning they wake to find a message scratched in to their window and their worst fears are confirmed; they aren’t alone on the island, and the stranger wants them dead.

This was the perfect thriller! Atmospheric setting, creepy goings on and unsavoury characters. The scene is set perfectly and then when we are least expecting it we get the twist. And what a twist it was! Didn’t see it coming at all, made me question everything I had just read, and made me turn the pages even faster to see how this would end! I am a massive lover of a good slap you in the face twist and this definitely delivered.

Loved the writing techniques used including the use of multiple POVs, including little snippets from ‘the stalker’ which had a sinister feel about them, and the split in to sections. Loved the reveal, and loved the end. My first book from this author but definitely not my last!

Another fast paced, action packed instalment from this author.
When Laura and Liam end up spending their honeymoon on a deserted island, things don’t go quite as they had planned!!
With twists and turns a plenty it is hard to review this book without giving the game away!! When I reached the end I wanted to start again with the knowledge I gained to see if I missed any subtle clues along the way.
You think you know the characters as the story progresses but you may well just find that you were wrong!

A quick read that you won’t want to put down until you have reached the conclusion!!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and most importantly the author, for the chance to read this book, in exchange for an honest review.

*2.5 stars*

While this was a super fast read (I literally finished within 24 hours), it was just "ok". Entertaining at times, sure; scary at times, yes. But ultimately the writing wasn't great and I guessed one of the big "twists".

Sarah Alderson's The Stalker is a chilling thriller with spectacular scenery, with an unexpected twist turning everything you though you knew on its head and inside out! I was admittedly almost at capacity for the very effective creepy, freaky and disturbing stalking phase of this book when the masterful reveal came, but my attention was well and truly restored by the dramatic revelation and ending. A really interesting exploration of control, power and manipulation.

Many thanks to NetGalley for a digital ARC of The Stalker for review, I will definitely be putting Sarah Alderson's earlier work The Weekend Away on my to-read list!

It was good in the beginning, but got boring quickly. Nothing really happened until the end.. There was a "twist" that I thought was obvious and then another one that was kind of ridiculous. If you like slow-burn thrillers with nonsensical twists, then you might like this.
