This story takes place a few weeks after the previous book, but if you missed that, this is a good point to step in. The main facts of that book are shortly explained, which was good for me as well as it’s a while since I read that.
When a young woman skids off the bridge on a patch of black ice, she discovers the bodies of Dana Rhodes and her 10-year-old son, Kellan. He disappeared from his uncle’s house 2 days earlier and it was assumed that his birth mother had taken him. Nobody could imagine that she would harm him though. It appears that the boy is dead for a couple of days but his mother’s death is more recent? Her wrists are slashed in a manner she could not have done self. Special Agent Nikki Hunt, who’s staying in town with her boyfriend, is asked to help with the case. The same day that Kellan disappeared, another boy that was also involved in a custody case did vanish from the neighbouring county. The local sheriff is imminent that he must have gone through the ice and drowned but a local journalist and the boy’s grandparents beg Nikki to help them.

It’s a bit odd, but I read this book and ‘The Winter Girls’ in the same week. Both books are similar in their setting and characters, even the names Hunt and Hunter are almost identical. Both are female FBI agents who’re involved with a local man. But luckily that’s where the coincidences stop. The stories are completely different. Anyway, it was a perfect read for a snowy, cold week.
Similar to the first book in the series, there are 2 different investigations that may well or not be connected.
Nikki feels still guilty about her early testimony that put Rory’s brother in jail for a very long time, even though she got him out as well by discovering the real killer. Mark and his brother forgave her but there are still a lot of people that hold it against her.
Nikki is trying to juggle her daughter, her ex-husband, and her new relationship but is a bit wary about informing her daughter Lacey and her ex. She’s also still insecure about her own and Rory’s feelings. It’s a delicate balance when both men are worried when she gives too much time or attention to the other;
Dana’s story is really tragic and sad. I felt really sorry for her. She worked so hard to get off the drugs and be a good mother and then her own sister fights that in court to keep custody of Kellan. So, she’s a good suspect for Dana’s death but surely she would not kill the boy?
This is a story of unconditional motherly love and perseverance. Where this love is a beautiful, positive sentiment, it can also lead to wrong and dangerous choices with unforeseeable consequences. This love is not only visible in the parents of the missing children but also in Nikki’s own life.
I thank Netgalley and Bookouture for their free ARC and this is my honest, unbiased review of it.

Stacy Green has woven a fantastic tale that keeps the reader intrigued and questioning everything. If you haven't read the first one, there are parts of this that might be confusing in reference, but I think you could start reading here if you are so inclined. A great mystery with twists that you might or might not see coming...

One sitting read, intricate tale that takes you up and slams you down, takes you down a dark and twisty road with glimpses of light and goodness. Nikki Hunt, if anything nefarious happens to me, I want you investigating. Tenacious divorced FBI with a daughter and ex husband, trying to help solve two murders while navigating through her new relationship with Rory. A relentless reporter telling Nikki there is a another boy missing, and the cases are connected. Are they? Addiction, family dynamics, pedophile and surprises along the way, especially the ending, I so did not guess that. Nicely done Stacy Green. There is horror and there is hope. A true thriller. Thank you Stacy Green, Bookouture and Netalley. I am already chomping for the next one. I want to see how Nikki navigates her personal life, I want to see what progresses with Liam and I want to hear more about Courtney. I am invested in the series, riding the Nikki Hunt train!

Wow!!!!! This book just like the first book blew me off completely!!!!

The second book of the Nikki Hunt series, FBI Agent Nikki Hunt investigate the murders of Kellan Rhodes, the boy who went missing for two days and who Nikki was trying to find along with his mother Dana, who was the biological mother of Kellan and who was trying to fight the custody of Kellan Rhodes. Dana was a former drug addict who apparently failed a recent drug test, revoking her of her parental rights over Kellan and so Nikki believed that Dana would have kidnapped Kellan and may have accidentally killed him and killed herself. However, as the investigation dwells deeper, finds that this suicide thing looks more like as if someone staged it, prompting Nikki to investigate further, particularly the relationship with Dana and her sister Maggie...

Meanwhile, Caitlin, the journalist that Nikki doesn't get along asks Nikki to investigate the missing boy case of Zach Reeves disappeared on the same day as Kellan was abducted. While Caitlin believes that the two cases are connected, Nikki doesn't trust Caitlin due to their past turmoil relationship...

I read this book in one go! I must say, the author somehow knows how to capture the reader into the thrill ride. I was not disappointed with the second book. Coupled with the case, there's much drama in the story, including Nikki's complicated relationship with Rory and I was almost put on the edge of my seat, wondering if someone actually killed Dana, whether her sister was involved or if someone else was involved and those questions were nagging me as I read this book!!! The plot was unpredictable just like the previous books and there were twists and turns in the end.

This was a fast paced thriller that had twists and turns, that you wouldn't want to put down and would read in one go!! It was that good! Worth five stars!

When the remains of two bodies are found in an open grave along a desolate highway in Stillwater, Minnesota, Special Agent Nikki Hunt knows exactly who they are. The bright blue jacket lying on the frozen earth belongs to Kellan Rhodes, the missing boy she’s desperately been trying to find for the last two days. The other body is his mother Dana, who had been Nikki’s lead suspect.

Although the wounds on Dana’s body suggest she murdered her son and took her own life, Nikki finds evidence that suggests she was a victim too. Dana was desperately trying to regain custody of Kellan, and Nikki finds boot prints at the scene that belong to someone else.

When another child is reported missing, local journalist Caitlin Newport claims the cases are linked: Zach Reeves was taken away from his own mother in a custody battle, just like Kellan was.

Now, Nikki must decide if she can trust Caitlin again, before time runs out to find the killer and bring Zach home alive…

I loved the first book in this series and so when I saw this, I knew I had to read this!

The plot was so exciting and fast paced that I just couldn’t put it down. Nikki Hunt’s investigation along with all her team members is excellent and meticulous. The perpetrator is obviously a sick individual who targets little children, I did have doubts quite early into the book as to who it could possibly be. And I was glad to have guessed it right.

Agent Nikki Hunt’s work ethic, camaraderie with her colleagues as well as her ability to keep her emotions at check are some of the amazing qualities which definitely makes her one of my favorite FBI agents. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

Overall, an excellent fast paced, edge of the seat thriller! Highly Recommended!

Thank You NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

In One Perfect Grave, the second novel in the Nikki Hunt series, we are once again in the company of the FBI Agent and her associates.

The investigation into the disappearance and subsequent death of a mother and son takes a number of different turns, as one might expect from a novel such as this. This is only made worse by the disappearance of another young person in a neighbouring town and the pressures this places on Agent Hunt and the team she works alongside.

Nikki Hunt relentlessly picks at threads in a bid to uncover THE clue that will help to solve her most current case. Using all resources at her disposal, including other professionals and witnesses, she successfully pieces everything together to uncover the truth often putting herself in harms way.

As a new-to-me author, I was captivated by Stacy Green's storytelling abilities and the skills she gave her investigators. This of course is backed up by an intriguing mystery that will keep readers enthralled until the very last page. I cant wait to see which case drops onto Agent Nikki Hunt's desk next.

I loved the first book in the Nikki Hunt series,The Girls in the Snow and so was thrilled to catch up with her once again in One Perfect Grave, an action packed, addictive read that will keep you page turning from the beginning to the very end.

An accident on an icy road late one night, reveals the unimaginable sight of a mother and her young son frozen in the ice.
Could these be the bodies of the missing people Special Agent Nikki Hunt had been helping to search for and if so what on earth had happened to them.

Loved it- A fabulous second in the series and author Stacy Green certainly kept you guessing and trying to work out the final outcome but I for one never did.

Very much look forward to catching up with Nikki and the team again soon.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC for my honest review.

When the bodies of missing child Kellan and his mother Dana are discovered, it’s easy for the case to be written off as an estranged mother accidentally killing her son and then killing her self afterwards. But how did the bodies end up in the embankment? Did Dana have someone help her transport her son’s lifeless body, or did someone kill them both and then move the bodies?

Now that we are in the second book of the series, we are well aware that Nikki isn’t someone who will take the easy way out. Along the way she learns that Dana was in the process of cleaning up her life and that for the most part the future looked bright for her and Kellan. So why would she kill him?

While trying to find answers, Nikki receives a plea to look for another missing child. The police believe he accidentally drowned, but his family isn’t so quick to believe that. Nikki sets out to find the boy and discover how these two cases are connected.

FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is back for the 2nd book in Stacy Green's series and it's fantastic!! I loved the 1st book in the series and couldn't wait to dive into this one. This time around Nikki is tasked with solving a kidnapping and murder case while coming across a recent 2nd kidnapping and yet another cold case of an abduction 25 years old. Are they all related? Can she find the kidnapper before he strikes again?
This was one I couldn't put down. It's a fast paced, emotional and engrossing story that sucks you in from the very beginning and will have you on the edge of your seat! I cannot wait for book 3!!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the arc!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of One Perfect Grave, the second novel to feature Minnesota based FBI Agent Nikki Hunt.

A car skids off the road and the driver discovers two dead bodies of a woman and child. They are quickly identified as Kellen Rhodes and his mother Dana. Nikki has been looking for Kellen for days and Dana had been her prime suspect. Initially it is suggested that it’s a murder-suicide after Dana lost custody of Kellen but Nikki’s not so sure, especially when another young boy goes missing.

I thoroughly enjoyed One Perfect Grave which is an engrossing read with plenty going on. It gets complicated at times with so many characters having what I would call side motives. Their behaviour isn’t legal and uncovering their motives for this behaviour adds to the picture but doesn’t bring Nikki closer to identifying a perpetrator. Much of the novel is taken up by this and while it gets a little messy at times it is exciting and compulsive. It is fitting that the solution comes in a throw away remark.

I like Nikki Hunt, who is a smart operator and is never afraid to get down and dirty - she is physically attacked twice in this novel. Does that make her careless or dedicated? Decide for yourself. She has a messy personal life as well with an ex-husband still carrying a torch, a child and a new boyfriend with links to her past. I would recommend reading this series in order as this novel makes many references to the events in the previous one, even explaining the outcome at one point. It would be hard to backtrack successfully.

One Perfect Grave is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

Nikki is a dedicated, focused, and hardworking FBI agent in Minnesota. She is also a single mother of a daughter, sharing custody with her ex. It's been just a short time since Nikki returned to her hometown to work a case, when she also discovered the truth about her parents' murder. Now, Nikki is working with the local authorities to discover who killed a mother and her son. The mother, who has a drug addiction past, lost custody of her son, who now lives with her sister, but Dana has worked hard to get sober and regain custody of her son. When she fails a drug test, she's certain the results were falsified and that her sister was involved. After the boy goes missing, he and Dana are found murdered. The chase to find the perpetrators of the crime leads Nikki and her team on a chase filled with dead ends. Meanwhile, another local boy goes missing and is believed to have drown in the river; however, his mom and grandparents believe he was taken by a child molester. Between the two cases, Nikki struggles to make time for her daughter and for her new love interest (Rory). The plot is full of twists and turns with a true surprise ending. I can't wait to see what happens next for Nikki.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for this Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) for an honest review.

This is the second book by author, Stacy Green, in the Nikki Hunt Series. From the opening page to the end, this novel immerses the reader into a FBI investigation into a parental child abduction case that ends in tragedy, but the more they investigate the more it becomes clear the mother and son were murdered. Special Agent, Nikki soon finds herself looking into a previous missing-child case from years ago to one the same day as her murder to find a commonality - the suspect.

This fact-paced mystery is set over the course of week form the discovery of the bodies to finding the killer. It is filled with twists and turns leading to the shocking conclusion which I did not see coming.

Nikki is a strong female protagonist who is also a mom, looking for love after divorce and plagued by a horrific crime that took lives of her parents in her youth. In book 3, A ghost will soon comeback to haunt Nikki and destroy what she trying to build. Look forward to continuing Nikki’s saga.

A woman returning home late one Sunday night hits a patch of black ice and slides off the road and down an embankment. Luckily she is not badly injured, but as she tries to make her way back to the road she sees two pairs of feet and a pool of blood thereby discovering two semi frozen corpses - eeek!

Acting Sheriff Miller from Washington County calls FBI agent Nikki Hunt to the scene as he thinks he knows who they are and Nikki has been on the search team over the weekend. The victims are confirmed as Dana Rhodes and her son Kellan. Kellan was reported missing on the Friday night. It is now suspected that Dana grabbed him after school on Friday and, after he died either accidentally or on purpose, killed herself by slashing her wrists. Dana was a recovering meth addict who had lost custody of her son three years ago to her much older sister Maggie and husband Joe Anderson.

But Dana had been clean for a year, passing all her drug tests until the last one just before the latest custody hearing. She wanted her son back but Maggie was against it. Failing the drug test was an automatic disqualification for Dana. However, things are never as they seem and the autopsies showed that Dana was actually murdered and that Kellan had died on the Friday - two days before his mother. Nikki learns that Dana swore adamantly that she was still clean and that her sister had somehow arranged for the drug test to fail. Who believes a drug addict anyway? But Nikki is hearing disturbing things about the relationship between the two sisters, Maggie and Dana. How bad could it be?

Meanwhile a reporter that has been bugging Nikki for an interview relating to a previous case, Caitlin Newport, asks Nikki to investigate the disappearance of another boy, 12 year old Zach, from a neighbouring county. There is absolutely no evidence of foul play but Caitlin persists. It turns out she is known to the boy and later she produces credible evidence that the two cases might be linked.

Well we know that Nikki Hunt is a relentless investigator and that she leaves no stone unturned. What eventually crawls out from under those stones is very disturbing indeed. Jealousy and toxic hatred drive this rather sad story. Keep your children close! My thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Stacy Green for providing a copy for review. My opinions are my own.

Nikki Hunt is a ROCK STAR investigator! I loved her first book - and this one will keep you up way after bedtime! Nikki is called in to help with the murder of a young boy and his momma (who has been battling addiction). The case quickly escalates when Caitlin Newport, a local reporter, insists that another boy has gone missing and the two cases are related. Whilst working her way through this case - with the best supporting cast of characters around - Nikki is also trying to navigate a relationship with Rory, as well as the intertwining of her daughter and ex-husband. One Perfect Grave is easily one of the best books of 2021 - and yes, it's February when I read this, but it will stay on your mind and heart throughout the year. I cannot wait to see where Ms. Green takes Nikki next!

This is book #2 is the Nikki Hunt series. Whilst part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book. FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is a great character who you can immediately connect with. She’s been through a lot in her life, but is slowly beginning to turn it all around. She finds herself on the case of a missing young boy, Kellan Rhodes who has been taken by his mother, Dana who had been trying to regain custody of him. When both their bodies are found in a frozen open grave, it looks like Dana has taken Kellan’s life and then her own. Agent Hunt has her suspicions though and she works hard with the local police to find out the truth.

This was a great read, based in the very cold sounding town of Stillwater, Minnesota! The story drops you into the discovery of two bodies in a frozen lake right at the very beginning, and you hit the ground running to keep up with the storyline as it speeds through at a fast pace! I love Nikki’s character and as a professional she’s determined, hard-working and methodical in her approach to solving the case. It’s difficult for her though as there’s not much in the way of clues, motives or evidence, and she has to use all her skill and gut feelings in determining whether Dana killed her son and then herself, or whether they were both killed by someone else. On a personal note for Nikki, whilst she is slowly rebuilding her life, there seem to be more obstacles put in her way, particularly in her new relationship and with her ex-husband. I did feel for her as she has tried so hard to do the right thing, putting everyone before herself but still never getting it right.

As the book moves on, the suspense and tension builds with another missing child thrown into the mix. The other characters within the story all have their own part to play and work well with each other. I especially liked Nikki’s relationship with her team who were all reliable, solid and trustworthy and also how Nikki reacted to Caitlyn despite their previous clashes. I certainly changed my opinion of Caitlyn as the book went on, and hope we might see a semblance of a friendship between Nikki and Caitlyn in future books! All in all, this was a great thriller of a read, not giving any early reveals and keeping you guessing right up to the end. I’d love to see more of Special Agent Nikki Hunt, and can’t wait for the next book in this very promising series! Would definitely recommend!

"She fought for justice every day since her parents' deaths..." Nikki Hunt
One Perfect Grave (Nikki Hunt Book 2) by Stacy Green is a fast-paced thriller! Once I started reading the second book in the Nikki Hunt series, I did not want to stop until I finished the whole story. From the beginning on an icy country road until the ending there are questions concerning who killed Killan and his mother, Dana. Even though I thought I had figured out who the killer could be, there are so many other things happening that connect to this case, until I wasn't for sure until the reveal. The story of Dana is so sad, it is a heartbreak to finally read the full account of how her death happened. Nikki proves again that she is a tough FBI agent who will not give up on finding the truth.
I don't want to post spoilers, but I can hardly wait for the next book in the Nikki Hunt series. Both books have been exceptionally good thrillers written to hold the readers' attention and grasp the heart of the reader!
Publication Date: February 25, 2021

A few weeks after discovering the truth about her parents being murdered when she was in her teens, Nikki Hunt is trying to adjust to her new normal, a mother and her son is discovered dead in the snow. While working on this case another child was reported missing on the same date as the mother and son. A coincidence or are they tied together. This was another fast moving and hard to put down book. I am very glad to have been able to read this and am enjoying the books by Stacy Green. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
