Who can Lauren trust and will her wedding go off as planned or will secrets be revealed that change everything? This was a wild ride! I enjoyed every single minute of this book. The author kept me guessing about who was terrorizing Lauren until the end. I even loved the beautiful descriptions of Thailand which made me yearn to have a holiday there. A seamless weaving of the plot between the different characters’ point of view kept the story flowing without giving away to much right away. It kept the tension high until the very end . I’m excited I have found another great author and will search out more of her books.

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read and Lauren was a really likeable character. However, it was not very shocking. I guessed every twist that was going to happen and I knew how it was going to end about 60% of the way through the book.
However, I still enjoyed it and thought the plot was a very well thought-out idea

I am definitely getting this book at publishing because I was so blown away from the final reveal. I thought this was going to be predictable and one of those stories that has been told before; IT IS NOT! Lauren and Adam have been friends all their lives because their mothers are long-time friends. One day they agree to marry and the wedding planning starts. Lauren finds her dress slashed and threatening note saying Adam does not really love her. Heartbreaking and shocking as hell.

This book has one twist after another, and once you think you have it figured it out, FLIP. This is not your typical thriller, stalker type of story at all. I am so glad it was not predictable and the cover was perfect for all the action inside the pages. Just wow.

I look forward to reading more from this author if it is as good as this one. Highly recommended.

A Wedding, A Tragedy and Family Drama! This is what this book is all about!

Lauren and Adam have been dating for a cool almost 18 years since they were teenagers and have now decided to finally tie the knot. They started right after her parents were killed in an accident on a trip to Thailand with Adam and his parents. Lauren starts receiving disturbing dolls that resemble her all cut up and bloody as well as disturbing notes telling her that Adam doesn't love her and threatening her life. Basically her perfect day turns out to be a NIGHTMARE.

I quite enjoyed what this author was portraying and how she mixed in both Adam and Lauren's POV to establish her story. How the author went back to what happened in Thailand to the present-day wedding really helped me piece together what had actually taken place. The characterization of some of the antagonists made me really dislike them from the start of the book and every note, everything that happened to Lauren throughout the book made me question who was doing this till the very end. It is why this thriller is probably one of those books that will stay with me for some time. Those are always the best books when I'm in a slump.

All in all, I quite enjoyed this author's writing and I hope when I decide to marry, it does not have this many issues.

The book was a brilliant read! There was so many twists and turns in the story that kept me guessing who it was. All my guesses turned out to be wrong and I was shocked by who it was!

The Wedding by Ruth Heald follows Lauren, who is finally marrying the man of her dreams, her childhood sweetheart, Adam. It should be one of the happiest times of her life, but a few weeks before the wedding, disturbing things start happening to Lauren. From threatening messages to being pushed down a stairs, it becomes apparent that someone is targeting her and wants to sabotage the wedding, but who and why? As the big day draws closer, Lauren realizes that she can't trust anyone - not even Adam.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot kept me engaged until the end and the writing style flowed really effortlessly. If I didn't have so much going on this week, I think I could've easily devoured this book in a day or two. Lauren is a relatable character and you can't help but empathize with her and root for her. The tension build-up was great and I enjoyed watching the mystery unravel. The culprit wasn't a surprise but overall it didn't take away my enjoyment of the story. I do have to say though, I have no idea what Lauren saw in Adam. He was a liar and a coward and I think she deserved better. I would have been just as happy if she had left him in the end.
All in all, this was an entertaining and gripping thriller. I definitely recommend it.

A woman is is busy planning the wedding of her dreams until she receives a note that say, "He does not love you."

This one did not do it for me for the following reasons:

- It's very slow-paced which the majority of the time does not work for me in mysteries.

- I felt the storyline relied too much on assumptions being made by the characters to carry the mystery throughout the story.

- There were scenarios where secrets were told to the reader from one character's perspective and then that same secret was uncovered by the other character in their chapter directly after. Well, that ruined any element of surprise.

- The plotline is nothing I haven't read before but if the above points had not been so prominent within the story I would have enjoyed this a lot more.

- The main female character was spineless, whiny and went through little to no growth throughout the story

⭐️⭐️💫 rounded up to 3. The Wedding by Ruth Heald begins with an interesting premise...Lauren, the bride-to-be comes into a room with a knife slash through her wedding dress where she was attacked. Then we go back in time 3 months. I’m all in. However, Adam, the fiancee, and a doctor turns out to be a bit dim-witted and easily attracted to other women with a very raunchy past. Lauren, his fiancée, also a doctor works the night shift while he is on an opposite schedule. The bride is pining for her parents who died in the Thailand ocean 18 years ago while on vacation with the groom and his family and she’s having a hard time planning the wedding without having a nervous breakdown because she feels responsible for their death by drowning. Still with me? Then Lauren receives a card with a picture of their engagement photo but on the inside is a threatening message that states “He doesn’t love you.” Sh*t starts to get real. Add to this is the sudden appearance of Adam’s female best friend who moves in with the couple (he doesn’t check first with Lauren) because she gets kicked out by her girlfriend and the BFF chick takes over their home, then the bride’s sister returns with a snippy daughter, and all sorts of mysterious things start to happen which foretell gloom and doom. Shockingly they return to Thailand to sort things out but everything goes to hell in a hand-basket. I was dizzy with the multiple plot twist, multiple storylines, multiple characters, and we’re all supposed to be guessing who did it, who is the bad person? This one was a little bit overdone and reminiscent of a Dynasty-type soap opera. I expected the sisters to be in the ocean bitch-slapping each other silly by the end of the book. I’m sure this is going to be a very popular novel and I have liked other books that I read by the author. This won’t be one of them. I really enjoyed this. Main character Lauren was so believable and I could really empathise with her when it became clear that someone was targeting her and her wedding. I'm not quite sure what she saw in Adam as although he was a well written character, he was also spineless and kept a lot of secrets from someone he was supposed to love.

I really liked the flashbacks to Thailand and the scene where you find out what happened to Lauren and Tracey's parents was heartbreaking.

My only issue with the book was that to me it was very obvious who the perpetrator was, and why. I'm not sure if this was because it was too easy to guess or whether I've just read too many books in this genre!

I would recommend this as a good thriller with well-written characters, but don't expect to be overly surprised if you read a lot of thrillers.

Hannah is blissfully happy. She has a job she loves and will shortly be marrying her childhood sweetheart fiancé Adam.
A few weeks before the wedding she receives a message through the post “He doesn’t love you” and her world comes crashing down.
It is every brides worst nightmare and Hannah is faced with the reality that every thing that could go wrong goes wrong.
The the story then turns in to a bit of a whodunnit. Adam is keeping secrets from her. She is suspicious of Adams female “best woman” who he has a special friendship with......the list goes on.
I did enjoy this book, reading it in less than 24 hours but for me it was a slow burn. It’s more of a mystery than a psychological thriller.
Most of the characters were kind of hard to like and so I couldn’t make up my mind who I was rooting for and I did figure out the culprit way before the big reveal. Adam is a GP and so an intelligent man but all the way through this book he was unable to see what was right in front of him and for me he was a bit of a wuss.
I have read a few books by Ruth Heald but this wasn’t one of her best.

Intriguing blurb and the title had grabbed my attention and made me request this book. This started with a great scene where the bride on her wedding day was being drowned. I can’t help but feel sorry for Lauren from the get go, riddled with guilt, been going through the pain of losing parents, estrangement with her sister Tracey. To make matters worse, someone intent on ruining her big day in every possible way, not going to stop until they take her out of their way.

She had to cross hell to reach her paradise. Every time, I thought things couldn’t get nastier than this, but the nefarious person finds dreadful ways to punish Lauren.

Except a very few characters, this teemed with obnoxious characters. Heald has cleverly crafted the plot to make the reader suspect one and switch to another as the story progressed and this continued till the end but Heald cleverly threw a brilliant twist before wrapping this story. Having been read many thrillers and murder mysteries, still the mind-blowing twist was beyond my wildest dreams.

I’ve found one relationship extremely creepy and it grossed me out. This has everything one look for in the domestic thriller such as betrayal, unflinching love, backstabbing, unscrupulous people with devious ways.
Besides crazy twists and turns in a wild roller coaster ride, I loved the short and sweet chapters and multi point of views.

Overall, The Wedding is a compelling and gripping domestic thriller and would recommend it.

The Wedding by Ruth Heald is another absorbing and compulsive read from an author who knows her way around a thriller that is guaranteed to keep you breathless and on the edge of your seat. Once again Ms Heald, very well played.

Lauren is set to marry Adam, a longtime family friend who has helped her to deal with the grief of losing her parents in a devastating accident in Thailand, a tragedy to which Adam himself bore witness. But as the wedding day approaches, Lauren begins to receive less than subtle hints that someone does not want the marriage to happen. As she struggles to understand who among their acquaintances could possibly want to prevent the couple from tying the knot, it becomes clear that this is a vendetta which knows no bounds, and the lives of both the bride and groom may be in very grave danger indeed.

This is a fast-paced rollercoaster of a tale, moving between past and present, from Thailand to the UK and back again, and the alternating perspectives of Lauren and Adam. It is addictive storytelling and I loved each and every word of it.

This book was just brilliant. The plot was exciting, thrilling and tense, and the characters all interesting (and several of them suspicious!). We are kept wondering who we should trust, especially as various secrets and lies come to the surface. I was sure I had the culprit worked out, but the twist was just fantastic. Can't recommend this book enough!

Ruth Heald’s psychological thriller, The Wedding, explores every bride’s fear ~ the perfect day turning into a perfect nightmare.

This is a fantastic read. It ticked all of the boxes for me.

The gripping opening is spectacular. To me, it’s such an essential part of a psychological thriller. Heald immediately gets readers attention with this inciting incident by showing how shocked and upset the bride-to-be is and, in doing so, gives readers insight into how the author is going to weave the thread of evil through the plot. Right away I knew that someone had it in for the bride. It propelled me forward to find out who and why.

The setting for the wedding is atmospheric. Heald creates the perfect location for things to go awry; a foreign country, a foreign language, a secluded bridal cottage on the edge of a forest and an isolated pier jutting out into the same waters that took the lives of a couple who should have been at the wedding. Under normal circumstances, all this would be appealing, but with the disasters leading up to the wedding, these factors intensify an already stressful situation.

The cast of characters is diverse and well-crafted. Heald has spent time stepping into the shoes of each character so that her writing evokes empathy for each member of the bridal party. When each guest in turn is suspect, I wanted to grab the protagonist and tell her why it couldn’t be that guest and provide the reasons why. When the villain was finally revealed, I was more shocked at why they did it than who they were. In retrospect, the author had set up the villain so that there was an understandable reason for the behaviour. She’d also foreshadowed the desperate need for the villain to remove anyone in the path to success. Heald’s twists and turns jolted me and shocked me when I least expected it. She has deftly explored the psychology behind what drives people to violence, destruction and revenge. It’s because of her well-honed writing skill that, although this is my first of her novels, I will be eagerly searching for her other books.

This is definitely worth keeping on your radar come publication date, March 03, 2021.

What a crazy, anxiety-ridden roller coaster ride this was..!!! And I loved every second of it...!!! This book was that amazing.

Lauren and Adam are finally getting married. Having gone through a lot in their eighteen years together, the two of them are excitedly looking forward to their big day. With just a few weeks left for the wedding, disturbing events begin to take place making them realise that someone is out to sabotage their wedding. As the D-day draws closer, Lauren, no longer able to trust Adam, is at a crossroads - whether to go ahead with the marriage or not. But the more important question is whether she would live long enough to even have a wedding.

I devoured this story in a single sitting - it was that unputdownable. I liked that the author started the story with the climax, throwing the reader head first into the plot, that there was no way to surface without completing the entire book. The suspense build-up was simply awesome. I think I may have developed a case of paranoia while reading, as I was intensely scrutinising every single word, action, and twitch of each character - even Adam's mum - to figure out who the stalker was. The plot was so well-written; I swear I could feel Lauren's unease and fear as my own. While I sympathised with Lauren, I didn't care much for Adam. By the end of the book, I was rooting for Lauren to cut her losses and walk away from the mess that was Adam.

The Wedding by Ruth Heald was an intense and compelling page-turner. The pace was perfect; the alternate POVs and the flashbacks kept me hooked and the end reveal was jaw-dropping. I loved the book and I highly recommend it.
