A sweet small town setting and quirky characters on The makings for a good light reading. Very comforting. And the ending tied everything together very well.

This was a very easy read. Likeable believable characters & even though the storyline was not new there were a couple of new thoughts in there which made it more enjoyable. Well written & enjoyable & I would certainly read from this author again

Laurie Morgan is a cafe owner whose family has lived in Mermaids Point all their lives.

After a photo (its Loch Ness monster picture blurry)...dare I say.. of a mermaid taken near Mermaids Point goes viral, the town starts getting visitors from all over looking for mermaids.

Jake Smith is a reporter secretly investigating the mermaid sighting.

Laurie and Jake have the whole summer to get to know each other. Honestly is always the best policy and fingers crossed that there are no secrets that may hurt this budding relationship?!!

This is a fun and sweet one evening read! The seaside town is wonderfully described. The characters are lovely and the romance between Laurie and Jake sincere. Of course, I loved the mermaid mystery and look forward to other books set in Mermaids Point.

I adore Sarah Bennett and her novels and I was so excited when I heard there was a new series coming out as it’s been a while. I was not disappointed and actually, this may be my favourite Sarah Bennett series yet!
I seem to spend most of my days with a fuzzy head, feeling overwhelmed with work and trying to fit in a bot of reading where I can. Summer Kisses was a perfect remedy to this. As I read, I almost instantly felt uplifted and invested in the characters and the community of Mermaids Point and devoured the whole book in a few sittings. It has a wonderfully summery vibe to it and will give you that warm and fuzzy glow to chase away any blues or grey clouds hovering about.
I adored the Morgen family and their interactions are precious – definitely family and relationship goals. Their bond and support for each other shines through the entire story and I really want to be part of that and their fierce loyalty for their home is admirable too.
The novel is narrated by both Laurie and Jake and I enjoyed seeing things from both their perspectives. It helped me to understand, experience and feel with each character as individuals. Laurie is a Morgen and has lived in Mermaids Point all her life. She runs the local café and bakes the most amazing sounding sweet treats. Jake is a write on a part-holiday after covering a draining and emotional story but also part research regarding the sighting of a mermaid at Mermaids Point. Both characters are delightful and so sweet and I loved the chemistry between them from the first time Jake set foot in Laurie’s café. They both have things they are hiding and I loved the gentle tension of this hanging over their blossoming friendship/developing relationship.
Mermaids Point is a quaint setting and perfect for a romance novel. It is reminiscent of low-key seaside places of the UK where the tradition and peace is still preserved. I really want to visit.
A heart-warming and uplifting read that really lifts the spirits. I cannot wait for a return visit to Mermaids Point as it already feels like a familiar second home to me. Highly recommended for lovers of romance.

Do you believe in mermaids? Such a fabulous escape! A small town Romance peppered with mystery. Laurie runs her family‘s café in the small town of Mermaid Point. The town is dependent on tourism that hasn’t been quite up to par in recent years, due to poor weather. Then some blurry photos of a supposed Mermaid citing go viral and the town is inundated with mermaid seekers. This includes handsome Jake who has been sent there to investigate these mermaid sightings, but Laurie knows him as an author. Will jake solve the mystery of Mermaid Point and will this stop Laurie and he finding their happily ever after? Or will it be his own secret that halts the path to love?

This was such a great story filled with such wonderful characters. Laurie and Jake were great. I was hoping that their secrets would not interfere with true love, they just seemed so well suited for one another. I also really loved all the secondary characters especially Laurie‘s family her parents and her brother. The mystery kept me intrigued I liked sussing out what was going on in this small town. A delightful read, looking forward to future books set in this charming town.

Although this book begins just before the summer season I believe it is a wonderful beach read.
Perfect for those who enjoy Hallmark movies and a little bit of fantasy or fairy tales in their romances.

Jake Smith has worked his way up the ranks to investigative reporter, but his last hard hitting story has taken an emotional toll. He wondered if his hesitation to move quickly on a story had negative effects. Not wanting him to burn out totally, yet unable to assign Jake to fluff pieces, his editor sends him to Mermaid Point on a working vacation. Sightings of a mermaid sunning herself on the rocks can't be real. but there is a story to be told.

Not wanting to blow his cover, and hoping to get local folk to talk to him, Jake tells everyone he is writing a book. This white lie leads to complications when he meets a woman he could easily fall for.
Not just Lorelei (Laurie) but her entire family, as they embrace Jake.

The romance is light and breezy. The characters are very likable
There is a bit of mystery about the mermaid and who may be playing a game or spoof on the town and the tourists. That part was fun.
The end of the book gets tense and serious as Jake tries to figure out how to come clean, fess up about the lies he's told and how it might directly affect Laurie's family.
Jake's own family experience plays a major role.

A nicely paced romance that is not too long.
A wonderful summer read.

This first book in the Mermaid Point trilogy focuses on Laurie and Jake. It explores family, community and the power of social media. The romance is gentle but conflicted, both have emotional issues, and Jake is not what he seems.

The family drama element is pivotal, and it's interesting to meet Laurie's family. There is humour, much of it self-deprecating but also poignancy. The problems faced by the coastal town are pertinent and add to the story's authenticity.

Believable characters, humour, mystery, and romance make this an enjoyable read.

I have been a fan of Sarah’s work for a while now. I haven’t quite caught up with everything that she has written but I am getting there. I love the way in which Sarah combines the drama with the fun, the comedy and the romance. I read the synopsis for ‘Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point’ and it certainly sounded like just the kind of read I needed at that moment in time. I was spot on too. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point’ but more about that in a bit.
I absolutely loved the characters of Laurie and Jake. Laurie is a lovely young lady, who runs a coffee shop at Mermaids Point. The coffee shop is housed in part of her parents’ shop. Life hasn’t always been easy for her but she is making the best of what she has got. She worries about her future especially as the coffee shop hasn’t been all that busy of late. That could all be about to change though…. Then we have Jake, who is a journalist and he isn’t having the best of times either. He becomes rather disillusioned with his work and realises that he has been rating the story above the welfare of the people he is writing about. Jake travels to Mermaids Point to have himself some rest and relaxation as well as focussing on a less serious topic for his latest article. Laurie and Jake meet and oh my word, the chemistry between the two of them is electrifying. I kept everything crossed the pair of them would get together and go skipping off into the sunset together. What happens? Well for the answer to that question and so much more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
‘Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point’ is an amazingly addictive book. As soon as I started to read, that was it. There was no point in planning to do anything else other than reading for the rest of the day because I could not put the book down. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I loved the characters, I loved the sound of Mermaids Point- in fact I loved everything about the book. I was enchanted by the story to say the least. This was one of those books that you wanted to finish because you needed to know if Laurie and Jake got the ‘happy ever after’ ending that they so deserved but you enjoy the book so much that you just don’t want the story to end. I binge read ‘Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point’ over the course of a single day. I was so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time. I found ‘Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point’ to be a delight to read from start to finish and just the tonic I needed.
‘Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point’ is superbly written but that’s true of Sarah’s work in general. I love the way in which she combines the serious stuff with the fun stuff. Sarah has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading one of Sarah’s books feels more like a chat between friends than reading an actual book. I hope that makes sense. Sarah describes Mermaids Point so well that I was all set to pack a suitcase and go there for a holiday. Sarah makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point’ and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Sarah’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

What a lovely air of family and community in this book. I think Mermaid's Point is my new favourite place to live!

Ms Bennett can always be relied on for heartwarming romance and the feel good factor which is so important in this genre. With a cast of very likeable characters supporting a heroine who is eminently relatable and a hero who has a touch of the dark and brooding about him, and a lovely storyline, this novel was great fun. I'm already looking forward to the next in this series.

Summer Kisses at Mermaid Point is a heartwarming story set at the beach and after the year we have all had, being at the beach sounds like absolute heaven right about now, but maybe without the mermaid.

You start the story with a media sensation, a mermaid has been spotted at Mermaid Point, and now Laurie’s (our heroine of the story) café is filled with tourists and she is loving it, and then in walks Jake. Jake has been covering some really tough stories as a journalist and it has beaten him down, now showing signs as burnt out, he is sent to Mermaid Point to give him a chance to get himself together and get the story, but what he wasn’t expecting was to fall in love.

Summer at Mermaid Point is a total feel-good romance, it the normal miscommunications and Happy Ever After that we as romance readers all want, this book is perfect it de-stress you at the end of a long day and leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling.

If you are looking for warm-hearted feel good romance that will make you long for summer and beach days then look no further.

Mermaids Point is an idyllic small seaside town and friendly community. By the end of the book I absolutely guarantee that you will want to sell up and move there!

But the town has been struggling – the last couple of summers have been a washout and for a town that relies on tourism this is a disaster. When images of what appears to be a mermaid sitting on a rock off the coast go viral on social media suddenly the town is buzzing again. The car parks are full and the gift shop stocks up on all things sparkly and mermaid related.

Heading to the coast to uncover the story behind the mermaid is investigative journalist Jake. Handsome and intelligent, he needs a break after spending the last few month working on a harrowing story. A summer looking for mermaids is just what he needs to refresh. Pretending to be an author researching a book about legends, he rents a cottage for the summer and sets about introducing himself to the locals.

And then he meets Laurie. Laurie is just the loveliest character. Warm and friendly, she has close relationships with her family and is well-liked in the community. She is such a real and relatable character that the reader is engaged with her story from the outset. Her family has their own mermaid legends – her name is Lorelai and her aunt is Nerissa.

The attraction between Jake and Laurie is instant and their flirtatious relationship develops quickly. But as Jake investigates the truth behind the mermaid sighting and his suspicions land on Laurie’s family, can their relationship survive?

No spoilers from me!

This is such a feel-good romance. The author creates such a wonderful world with a cast of interesting locals I will definitely be returning to Mermaids Point again. This promises to be a lovely trilogy. And the cover is absolutely gorgeous!

A beguiling yet entrancing story about love and bringing out the best in family; about how families are meant to be – strong and always there for each other. I defy you to find a more wonderful, compelling, modern romantic novel. One chapter and the mermaids will have you in their mystic grasp and you may find yourself just a little more believing of the fantastical mermaid myths of our past, involving these mystical creatures.

Laurie lives in Mermaids Point and runs a seafront cafe. She is very close to her family, with whom she still lives. She was named after a mermaid and there are mermaid legends in her Immediate family history. One day the village is suddenly busier than usual, and it seems that there has been a sighting of a mermaid locally – a video has appeared online. The village finds itself full of mermaid hunters.

Jake is an investigative journalist who has just wrapped up on a harrowing story. He comes to Mermaids Point partially for a break and partially to see if he can get to the bottom of what is going on with the mermaid story.

Laurie and Jake meet in the cafe and there is an instant attraction between them. He seems entranced by her. They soon become a couple, but Jake is dreading telling Laurie the truth about why he is in town (she thinks he is writing a book on myths and legends), especially when it looks as though Laurie’s Brother Nick might be involved.

Will the truth come out and will their relationship survive, or will it be jinxed by the myths of mermaids past? Will Jake be guided by love or by financial gain? You will have to read for yourself to find out.

What a brilliant start to a new series by this talented author! Mermaid’s Point is a small, close knit community which relies on tourists for much of the local income. The Morgan family have lived there for generations and whilst her parents run a local gift shop, Laurie Morgan runs the adjoining café and her brother works with their uncle taking tourists on guided sea tours around the coastline and islands.

After two years of bad weather, things aren’t looking great for the community until a social media post showing a hazy image of a what might be a mermaid goes viral. Who posted the image? Why? Well the impact is an influx of tourists – and the arrival of Jake Smith who rents a cottage for the summer to enable him to work on his writing, implying he’s an author rather than the investigative journalist he really is!

This is a lovely story of a small community with great characters, an intriguing mystery and a heartwarming romance. It was delightful to virtually visit this beautiful seaside resort through this story. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to go back to catch up on everything there in future. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this to anyone looking for a fun read to escape into!

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

I can't believe this is my first Sarah Bennett book - what have I been doing with my life!? I immediately knew that this was going to be a highly anticipated 2021 book for me, just based off of the extremely stunning book cover and title. I completely fell in love with the beautiful village of Mermaids Point and I found it so exciting that there were rumours of Mermaid's living within the waters, especially when an influx of visitors came through to get a glimpse of the mythical creatures for themselves. Whilst we all know the chances of seeing a mythical creature was extremely low, the thought of it all had the village and the local businesses booming with tourists and eventually led to our handsome journalist joining in on the intrigue. Our leading lady Laurie, who runs the village's beloved café, was a really lovely character and I warmed up to her immediately. I can totally see why our leading male, Jake, was determined to get to know the gorgeous woman as soon as he laid eyes on her! Jake was the most gorgeous leading male character, I could not stop swooning over the determination that was within him to spend time with Laurie and the intimate moments between them as their relationship progressed were just perfect in every single way! He is the most dreamy man I have had the pleasure of coming across in a book. Can I please have him? I think he might just be my most favourite book boyfriend!!

I think it's safe to say that this has been my most favourite read of 2021 so far. I adored every single character, the story had every bit of power to keep you enthralled and invested until the final page and it was a really beautiful journey of finding happiness for both Laurie and Jake. I really enjoyed the secondary characters and would love to get to know more about them in future stories, especially Laurie's Aunt - she definitely has a story that needs to be told!

Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point is the most beautiful storyline, gorgeously written, filled with romance, drama and the most fascinating Mermaid story that I couldn't get enough of! I was so entranced throughout the chapter in which Laurie was telling Jake the story of the mermaid and her love - it was heart-breaking and beautiful all in the same breath. Everybody needs to hear it and everybody needs to pick up this book, immediately!

As soon as I read the description for this book I just knew it was going to be a story that I would fall in love with.

Laurie (Lorelai) Morgan runs a much loved cafe in the beautiful village of Mermaids point, which is aptly named so after the beautiful creatures that are rumoured to live in the waters surrounding the point. When a rather blurred image of what is assumed to be a mermaid is posted online, it causes an influx of visitors to swarm towards the village hoping to catch sight of the mythical creature themselves.

Then arrives Jake – an Investigative journalist who, after exposing what can only be described as a disturbing story, is in serious need of a break to gather his thoughts once more. When his boss Mac suggests him taking a long break and sends him to work on the low key story surrounding this mysterious mermaid. When he arrives at Mermaids Point, he ends up renting a cottage off one of the local’s who makes him feel at home instantly. As Jake begins to explore the village, he sticks with the guise in which himself and Mac concocted – Jake is an author, who is looking for inspiration for his up and coming book.

As soon as Laurie and Jake meet sparks begin to fly between them. Throughout their meeting’s in Laurie’s cafe, they find themselves growing closer with every day that passes by, and soon enough they find themselves in a new romantic relationship. Things seem to be going so well for them, but as we often come to expect in these stories, they soon enough end up hitting a major hurdle in which they aren’t entirely sure they will ever be able to move forward from.

This story was quite honestly one of my favourite reads recently!. I adored the characters that Sarah created and so beautifully brought to life. Laurie is loveable from the first time we meet her, and I found myself completely and utterly invested in her story and her journey to find happiness. Jake is also a wonderful character, who is full of his own unique quirks and an incredibly likeable, believable personality. It is impossibly to not find yourself swooning a little over Jake as we get to know him more. Along with a fascinating cast of secondary characters, especially Laurie’s family members, along with the local’s who all look out for one another, there is most certainly someone who will relate to every reader in some way.

Beautifully written, with a gorgeous storyline that I was well and truly immersed in the world in which Sarah Bennet brings to life with her fantastic writing style. Full of romance, drama and fun, this is without a doubt a book that everyone must read!.

A nice summery read, makes you wish for a visit to the beach on a nice sunny day with a visit to the cafe for lunch

Laurie and her family live in the sleepy seaside community of Mermaids Point where she runs a café, her parents run a gift shop and her brother runs boat trips.

When a video clip appearing to show a mermaid goes viral, the town comes to life with tourists eager to catch their own sighting. That’s great for business at the café and Laurie’s happy to chat and be friendly but there’s no way she’ll break her golden rule around getting involved with any visitors. She’s been burned before.

Investigative journalist Jake has hit burnout and has been sent to Mermaids Point to recharge his batteries but also to investigate the truth behind the viral clip. It feels like a pointless mission but he could do with a break. He has a cover story worked out to help him get the locals talking and try to unearth the truth. It won’t matter if that means a few white lies here and there because he’ll be gone by the time the summer’s over, won’t he?

Laurie and Jake are really interesting characters, both guarded for very different reasons and it was lovely seeing their relationship develop in a very realistic way.

I love the community that Sarah Bennett has created at Mermaids Point. I could visualise it so vividly and feel like I was there among the seaside sights and sounds. Laurie’s family are fabulous and I’m already looking forward to the rest of the series where I understand we’ll find out more about them.

An uplifting story of family, community and falling in love, but with some depth … and not just the depths into which the mysterious mermaid plunges! Very excited to read the next in the series.

I was granted access to an early review copy of this book via NetGalley which has not in any way influenced or biased my opinions.

A fun little cute romance read that I liked a lot and just needed after reading some darker heavier topical books. I really liked our characters and loved the café setting one of my favorites in romance books and the setting was also great. Not the best book but worth the read.

Keeping secrets and pretending to be someone you’re not is never the best way to start a relationship – but when journalist Jake arrives in Mermaids Point, undercover and pursuing an intriguing story, he really didn’t expect to fall so heavily for Laurie, behind the counter at the local cafe. And she’s not inclined to fall for incomers either – she’s been badly burned by a previous relationship, and struggling to trust anyone again.

And as their relationship develops, and the real story becomes a rather different one from the one behind the images of a mermaid that have brought tourists flocking back to the sleepy seaside village, Jake has some very difficult choices to make. Does he break the story – because if he does, there’s not much chance of being forgiven, and he might lose the best thing that’s happened to him in a very long time.

I’d seen a few early reviews of this book, and everyone was using words like light-hearted and escapist… and yes, it certainly is, but there’s also a small touch of darkness that gives the story considerably more depth and interest than you might be expecting.

There’s a quite wonderful focus on family and what it means. I loved every one of the Morgans – Laurie herself, her parents who run the gift shop next to the cafe, her aunt Nerissa whose life has been rather taken over by the elderly doctor she cares for, her brother Nick who works on the tour boats. There’s a particularly perfect scene when Jake joins them for a family meal that brought a little tear to my eye, and I really wished I could join them and experience some of that warmth and love that binds them all together.

The main story is told from the points of view of both Laurie and Jake, and that works really well – as he struggles with his conscience, and she decides that she’s finally found a man who makes her heart beat rather faster and who might be the man she can love.

The setting is beautifully done – the whole community was brought to life in a way I unfailingly enjoy, with lovely descriptions of both cafe and gift shop, the beach, the caves on the headland, and the quay where the boats leave for their trips around the bay. It’s overflowing with warmth and sunniness, a real holiday feel, and that’s something you can’t fail to enjoy, particularly in current times. The romance feels real and believable, and brings even more warmth to the story – as does that lovely family relationship, especially when contrasted with Jake’s own experience. And the conflict in the story is so well managed – a few wrong choices that might be difficult to understand if we hadn’t got to feel for the characters and know them so well.

And I loved – really loved – the way all the main characters had their own back stories, a rich vein for the series that’s to follow. This might be the first book I’ve read from Sarah Bennett, but it certainly won’t be my last – I’m looking forward to my next visit to Mermaids Point already. I thoroughly enjoyed this book – and I know others will too.

Such a lovely read, It wasn't my favourite but the story was lovely, the romance was sweet and the mermaid sighting well.

I did enjoy this book and would happily read others by the author. Reading it from both points of view kept the book flowing nicely.
