Wasn't my best novel. I enjoyed the overall storyline as well as the location and most of the characters but I found the relationship between Jake and Laurie to be a bit unbelievable and forced almost. It all seemed to happen so quickly that I just couldn't really grasp it.

Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point" by Sarah Bennett. What can I say other than I loved it and read in one day. Who doesn’t want to escape to a small village by the sea...

The setting of a tiny village called Mermaid Point sounded breathtaking, I could picture it especially as I have visited small villages along the coast of England. It had everything you could want in a story love, family, community and second chances.

I found the characters to be well developed, and multi-dimensional. There were multiple sub-plots like the mermaid sighting to keep you engaged and interested in the outcome. I must admit I choked up a bit at the end, and was glad this is a series and I'll get to meet the characters again because I wanted to know more and what would happen next. It’s a great start to a new series, and I can’t wait to pick up Nerissa’s story in the next book!

I will definitely read other books by this author.

I requested and received an advance reader copy of this book from Boldwood Books and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I usually love the seaside romance books, but I could not get into this one that much. I felt it was a little predictable, however, I know many patrons at our library will love it!

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this advanced reader's copy!

This book features as my second blog tour today, and it’s also getting a big five stars, thumbs up review! I have to admit, this is shamefully my first book by this author though! How I’ve never read any before is beyond me, but it will certainly something I will be fixing! This book was absolutely delightful! I loved everything about it and it’s most certainly one of those feel-good books to lift your mood and warm your heart.

We head to Mermaids Point, which is a beautiful little seaside village where Laurie Morgan runs the local café. When a new report breaks showing a hazy photo of a mermaid on the rocks close to the village, journalist Jake Smith is sent to bring back the story. Under the pretence of writing a book on local myths and legends, Jake immediately wins the locals round, particularly Laurie! I loved Laurie and Jake’s characters straight away, but you could see that there were issues in their pasts which had yet to be revealed! As the story moves along you find out what these are, and ride the rollercoaster of emotions that come with them! The supporting characters are all wonderful also, and I love the relationship Laurie has with her family, particularly her dad!

The mermaid storyline does run all the way through the book and it had me intrigued as to whether it was true or not! It was great to have that little bit of mythical mystery, and I loved the old legends that were told about times gone by! I’m still wondering however if it’s true that Laurie’s family have a connection to the mermaids’ stories, particularly with the mystical names, and hopefully this will come out more in future books! Of course, this a romantic read and we are treated to a budding relationship between Laurie and Jake! They were perfect together, but as we all know the course of true love never runs smoothly so I kept my fingers crossed that everything would work out between them by the end of the book.

This was such a fabulous read which once I picked up, I couldn’t put down! The location topped it off and I could feel the warm sun, the sand between my toes and hear the sea as I read. I also could smell and taste the wonderful delights which were being offered by Laurie at the café, making me very hungry as I turned the pages. This was a great start to a new series, and I can’t wait to pick up Nerissa’s story in the next book! A perfect, easy to read, fun and romantic book which I would definitely recommend!

A great feel good read. Lots of the usual ups and downs of a romance, lovely scenery, a mysterious mermaid sighting and a whole host of romantic encounters. A feel good read, just right for a cosy night or two in or reading on the beach.

Wow I couldn't put this book down. This is the first Sarah Bennett book that I have read and it won't be the last. The book transported me to a wonderful town by the sea, definitely needed while in the current lockdown. A place where myths of mermaids surround the town and are described so wonderfully, I actually felt as though I was there. Its a lovely summery read for anyone yearning for the summer months. We meet the Morgan's, particularly, Laurie and the journalist Jake who is investigating the mermaid sightings. I can't wait to read the next part of the series. Thank you to Netgalley and Sarah Bennett for the opportunity to read this book on an early release. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed.

“She’d always been drawn to the sea. Whatever the season, there was beauty to be found. From the balmy summer days when the shiny white triangles of pleasure boat sails dotted the gentle waves, to the rolling majesty of a winter storm in full tumult when even the hardiest of the local fishermen kept their boats secured in the sheltered bay.”

Lorelai (“Laurie”) Morgan is a twenty-two-year-old with her own cafe in an idyllic coastal village. Well, it's considered idyllic by tourists - locals know how hard it can be to live with the sea. After a humiliating experience a few years ago, Laurie is now dreaming of a new romance, but feels like the small town is lacking options. Enter Jake: an investigative journalist who is sent to Mermaid Point to cover a hot news story. Images of a mermaid near the village have gone viral and tourists are visiting en masse in order to try and spot the mysterious visitor. But Jake suspects a hoax and as his relationship with Laurie blossoms, he is getting caught up in his own lies...

This was such a nice, summery book! I loved the setting: the descriptions of the sea and the little village painted a very vivid picture in my mind. This book offered a lovely escape and made me desperate for warmer days. I also thought that the characters were interesting. I liked Jake’s backstory and Laurie’s family members all had well-developed personalities. There were also some nice folktales that featured mermaids.
One thing that I found a little less realistic is how Laurie and Jake’s relationship seemed to almost skip a phase. They went from just getting to know each other to being in a committed relationship very quickly. Also, I felt that Jake’s reveal was somewhat rushed and everything came to an end before I knew it. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a light-hearted but interesting (love) story! I am definitely keeping an eye out for the sequel.

Thank you NetGalley, Sarah Bennett and Boldwood Books for the ARC of Summer Kisses at Mermaids Point. This is my personal review.
Mermaids Point is a wonderful name of a community. The location is perfect for this story. The romance is written beautifully. Laurie and Jake are perfect together.
Laurie has had her heart broken several times and she focuses on running the café and the excitement the idea of tourists coming to catch a glimpse of mermaids is her life.
Jake is a writer and her comes to Mermaid Point to write a book, but he is very set on learning more about the mermaid sightings.
This is a book that is a great escape for a few hours. Pick this one up and escape to Mermaid Point. You will be glad you did.

What a book to kick off the new series, I have loved every second of my trip to Mermaids Point and flew threw this wonderful story in just a couple of days.

I have really enjoyed getting to know Laurie & Jake and meet the whole Morgan family. I love myths and legends and the Mermaid element is a magical touch to the story. As always the descriptions of the location are superb and it makes it easy to visualise the story as you read. I grew up in a seaside village and I loved the way that Sarah Bennett has bought it to life and reminded me of the bustle of the summer compared to the how quiet and bleak the winter months are.

I am so excited this is going to be part of a series as I cant wait to go back and spend more time in Mermaids Point

I have read and enjoyed the previous book series by Sarah Bennett. I was delighted to hear that she had written a new series and I was lucky enough to receive an early preview copy from Netgalley and the Publisher.
The location of this book, Mermaids Point is lovely, I love books that are set at the seaside, and this sounds like an idyllic village.
Family plays and important part of this story, with Laurie's close knit family to Jake's estranged family. The characters were all likeable,
I didn't think that the secrets were particularly terrible, in my opinion it was more how the characters perceived their secrets than the actual reality.
I think that the last few chapters could have been more substantial. It was lacking in detail about how the story was concluded. I am hoping that the next book might clear up some of these details.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. This was an enjoyable read, generally lighthearted with a feel-good factor.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Another fabulous book/start of a series from Sarah.

Such a lovely, heartwarming love story.

I couldn’t put it down, based at the seaside, was a nice escape.

It’s written from two peoples views, Jake and Laurie. Jake is a journalist and Laurie runs a very cute coffee shop, next door to her is her mum and dad shop.

A nice community, here everyone gets on with each other and always there for one another.

Someone spots a mermaid and suddenly the resort gets so busy because of this as everyone now wants to see this mermaid.

Along comes Jake, sent to investigate it, but the community people are informed he’s writing a book, in order for him to find out the truth behind the mermaid spotting.

Recommend it.

Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Another great book from Sarah.

When an image is posted online of a mermaid sighted at Mermaid point author Jake heads to Mermaid point to follow the story. Laurie has had her heart broken a number of times she concentrates on her coffee shop business and tries not to let Jake in. They eventually decide to take the plunge with each other but will Jakes secret spoil everything.

When you want some warmth to your soul and heart then I would always  recommend picking up a Sarah Bennett novel. And in her latest you are whisked away to Mermaid's Point where you can get some warmth to your skin as well!

Laurie Morgan runs a small café, next door to a gift shop that her parents run, her brother Nick can be found on the tour boats in this delightful costal village and her aunt can also be found popping into help in the café. A real family feel to this book and I am sure in subsequent books we will get to know more about them all.

Suddenly Mermaids Point is the focus of a lot of media attention, when it seems that a video of a mermaid goes viral on the internet, and there is suddenly a lot of interest in this mythical creature. Of course when the village has a mermaid in its name it seems that perhaps those folk tales of the past might be true?

Jake Smith moves to the village, temporarily on the pretence of writing a book, but really to discover more about this mermaid sighting. After some rather hard hitting journalism, his editor thinks this could be a way of stepping back for a  bit. to get close to the truth, he needs to not be a tourist but more of a local and he finds himself drawn to Laurie, like a mermaid calling out a seductive call to lure sailors.

However as Jake gets close to the truth about the mermaid sightings and then even even closer to Laurie it seems that he is going to have to make some decisions about which truths are going to be the ones he reveals.

A wonderful escapist novel, which sweeps you away to the seaside, that takes you for a paddle in the waters, to the mouth watering cakes of Laurie's café as the well as the warmth of the community environment and the strength of family. This book has so many layers of warmth that you will never feel cold reading it!

Fabulous read.

Loved this book, it was warm and sunny and I loved the characters. The relationship between Jake and Laurie was sweet and I was glad they sorted themselves out in the end. Whilst reading this book my mind was conjuring up pictures of the seafront and the warm sunshine along with all the little shops and the cafe. Something we all hope to enjoy this year if possible. This was a first time read by this author but it won’t be my last. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I can’t believe that this was my first read from Sarah Bennett, it certainly won’t be my last! It’s a really lovely story.
Mermaid’s point is the home of legends of aquatic beauties and fishermen. When an unclear photo circulates, in the press, of an apparent sighting, the sleepy town is inundated with tourists and mermaid spotters. This is really good news for Laurie, who runs the local café, and for her parents who run a gift shop which specialises in ethereal and holistic goods. Nobody is happier than Laurie’s brother, a former fisherman who is now involved in sightseeing tours in former fishing boats, demand is suddenly very high.
Conflicted and burned out by his last big scoop, journalist Jake Smith is dispatched to Mermaid’s Point by his editor. He sets out to uncover the truth of the sighting whilst masquerading as an author.
As the story unfolded, I found myself dreaming of the beaches and caves, described in this enchanting story. The tale of the mermaid, told by Laurie, was intriguing, and stayed with me as another sighting emerged. It seemed natural that Jake would suspect Laurie’s brother as being behind the whole story.
The story moved along at a pleasant pace and there was the perfect amount of detail on the scenes to make it easy to imagine the setting. The characters all worked really well, and I was invested in seeing a happy ending for Jake and Laurie.
No spoilers though, the path to true love isn’t smooth and there’s no reason to assume that they will find happiness, is there?
I do hope you enjoy this book, I’m certainly going to find Sarah’s back catalogue!

I'm not one to go over the contents of the story....you can read the synopsis of the book to find out what it is about

This is my first book by Sarah Bennett and I really enjoyed it. Family drama, romance and a little mystery. The characters were well thought out and the storyline flowed effortlessly.
I hope to read more of Sarah Bennett's books...
Recommend if you like a cozy romance story...
