This is a brilliant and funny children’s audiobook. The class of 4B is the worst class in the world. The class always get in trouble at break time, but when the head teacher says that class 4B get to be playground monitors for the next week, can the class behave enough to actually do a good job?

I have never read or listened to any of The Worst Class in the World books before but I have enjoyed listening to this audio book so much! The story begins with a brief introduction to some of the characters and class of 4B are and why they are apparently, the worst class in the world. The story is narrated by one of the children in the class, Stanley, and we soon find out just how terrible the class is, with a group of characters who end up being very funny and silly when put in various situations. The story is split into two separate adventures, one about 4B being playground monitors and the other about a trip to the zoo.

The first story shows class 4B who usually are the ones reported for misbehaving in the playground, getting the chance to become playground monitors themselves for the next week. The way the class ends up arguing over who goes first, and later how they try to stay out of trouble is so funny. I love Stanley’s narration which is perfect in explaining what happens with various things being repeated over and over, like the name and description of the head teacher or certain students, which actually make it sound so funny and silly!

Both adventures of class 4B are good, and they both had me laughing out loud in certain places. The second story where the class are on a trip to the zoo was especially funny and I love what happens latter with a penguin and the school bus. The audiobook is just under an hour long and the after the two adventures of 4B as playground monitors and at the zoo, there are a further three chapters. One is Mrs Bottomley-Blunt’s school rules, the second chapter is also more of her school rules (there are a lot of them), and the third is a short fun quiz to see if you could be in the worst class in the world.

What made me enjoy this audio book so much is the narration by Sam Newton who does such a brilliant job of conveying all the silliness and the different characters in the book. The conversations between the different characters, as well as Stanley’s narration of what is happening wouldn’t have been so funny if it hadn’t been for the brilliant narrator and the many different voices that he put on. Overall I have really enjoyed this short audiobook and it’s made me keen to find out more books in the series. I’m not sure why it took me so long to listen to this book (I had it saved on my device for some time) but I’m definitely a fan of the series now and would love to read or hear more! 🙂

My son loved listening to this book. He's a big fan of Horrid Henry and the David Walliams books, and this was similar humour!

I thought this was a very funny, brilliantly written book.

At the beginning when they were going through the children in the class and a description of them I could definitely remember some people in my classes at primary school that were just like that! This definitely helps to imagine the child as you are reading the book (or listening too it like I did) as you can easily identify with the people in the book.

It is the kind of funny ,silly book that children just love.... who doesn't love the image of children trying to hide a penguin after a trip to a zoo ! For the audiobook it was very easy to listen to and easy for young listens to follow it through the story and the chapters. I also loved the accents for the different children so you could tell which one was talking. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with young children who enjoy daft stories.

I loved this book for many reasons at first all the names and how a boy could burp the national anthem.

All of the headteachers rules made me laugh 😂

I loved all the characters!

Many thanks to the author and NetGalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I chose the audio version of this book, with those reluctant readers in mind. I loved all of the characters, loved the narration, loved the repetitive quips. I will definitely be recommending this to the children in my primary school.

This was a laugh out loud tome that I would definitely use in Lower Key Stage 2 and potentially Year 2.
I loved the teacher who would dream of other professions he could join instead of being this particular classes teacher and the Headteacher with her rule book which had been heavily influenced by the class.
From the magic wand in the loo to the kidnapped penguin it was a fun read which I could see used in a variety of ways in school and could be used to inspire pupils to write too.

My 7 year old son devoured this book and chuckled along while listening to it! He had lots of ideas about the further adventures class 4B could have - he was gripped by the characters and it definitely sparked his imagination. The narration was good and he found it very easy and enjoyable to listen to. We will purchase the book now as we have heard that the illustrations are wonderful.

Thank you for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is audio book is really good fun for primary aged children, I would say of aged 8 and under.

It is full of the innocent naughtiness that I remember enjoying as a child. There are lots of overflowing toilets and bossy teachers, and the narration captures all of this beautifully. The narrator is very skillful as they manage to relay the story without being preachy or patronising, but simply relaying the different voices with their very different nuances very successfully.

The writing is uncomplicated and clear, using language that should work with it's target audience.I think children will love the humor.

I think children would love this audio book, and it is good enough to not annoy the adults in their company, infact I suspect those adults would secretly enjoy it!

My daughter and I listened to this together, having both enjoyed the first of the series. We both agreed that this is an excellent sequel, even funnier than the first with some great storylines. My daughter giggled throughout. The narrator was great too, bringing the story to life with their reading.
I’d really recommend this audio version - my daughter is 8, but it is suitable for children slightly younger than this, and as an adult I enjoyed it too!

My husband and I really loved it too and even more so because if a squeals of laughter from our children. It was the perfect length and the narrator suited the tale to perfection. 5 stars from our house for certain!!
