a useful book for those with the proverbial 'tiny kitchen'. Particularly helpful is the section at the beginning explaining just how little equipment you actually need and how most utensils can multitask ! Also the tip to buy small quantities in shops that sell loose in bulk. The recipes are interesting with something for every taste. I would certainly recommend this book for students and others setting up home and discovering the kitchen is much smaller than they may be used to!

This book is proof that you can absolutely do gourmet without a big kitchen and fancy cooking instruments. I really enjoyed the Use it Up chapter, but also that Use it Up was sprinkled in each recipe. You probably have ingredient X left after making recipe Y, here are a few other ways you can use that ingredient up. Genius. The buttermilk fried chicken salad with apples and blue cheese was a crowd pleaser as an easy weekend lunch. The Crab and Avocado Crepes with chipotle cream were a big hit with my husband. All recipes are for 2 which is nice for couples.

I love this book! This is perfect for people with small kitchens (just like the name implies), and I found myself bookmarking multiple recipes to try in the future. I love the tips for other dishes to make with ingredients that I always have leftover from trying that one out-of-the-box recipe, like sour cream, pomegranate molasses, etc. The photography is also beautiful and none of the recipes seem too hard to make! The recipes are meant for a smaller kitchen, but you could definitely double or triple the ingredients to make enough for a potluck or dinner party if you don't have a tiny kitchen.

Having a tiny kitchen myself I enjoyed reading all the tips presented in this book. Some of them I knew but it's still good to be reminded of some of them. And I can say that the tips can be useful even to those that have a big kitchen. I liked the recipe ideas. It brought some fresh new ideas to try on in the kitchen. I recommend this book to anyone with or without a tiny kitchen.

The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook is a practical guide for using kitchen space effectively and strategies for paring down necessities in small spaces. Due out 14th Sept 2021 from Storey, it's 224 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

There is a popular trend toward minimalism in our living and working spaces. People are making do with less in a philosophical move to solidarity with our planet's dwindling resources and our ever growing economic challenges. More of us are living in RVs, some in boats, and many many more are making the move to tiny houses. Admittedly, few of us have the experience of the author, who lives on a sailboat half the year and cooks on a woodstove without electricity, without refrigeration, without a freezer, and doing all the kitchen tasks by hand. In other words, she really knows what she's talking about.

Much of the book is given to an analysis of kitchen setup and strategies for efficiently using space, making working spaces which double (or triple) the job tasks for which they are suitable. The chapter on meal planning also has really sensible tips for sharing the small space with other people if necessary, coping with smells (keep everything clean, open windows, use a fan, clean up as quickly as possible afterwards), shopping and storage tips, trash, recycling, and others. Certainly there are a number of logical takeaways for readers who are living in larger spaces as well as those who are contemplating downsizing and want a glimpse of what that might entail later.

The recipes which are included are varied and appealing. They're arranged roughly thematically: snacks & light meals, one bowl salads & mains, stovetop one pan dishes, oven/toaster oven dishes, and desserts. Recipes are mostly scaled for two servings but can be adjusted up or down (there are a lot of good pieces of advice for using leftovers efficiently and appetizingly). Recipe measures are given in American standard units (no metric equivalents), followed by step-by-step instructions. There is no nutritional information provided.

The photography is superlative throughout. About 25-30% of the recipes (by my rough count) are accompanied by one or more color photos as well as interior shots of the author's tiny kitchen and food serving suggestions.

This would make a superlative addition to a 'moving out' care package for newly independent youngsters/singles/newlyweds, etc. It would also be a good choice for RVers, boaters, or folks who are downsizing.

Four stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes

One issue I have with cookbooks is that a lot of times they use ingredients that I've never even heard of or are hard to come by. I thought this book would have been been simpler, but alas, it was not. And for me, there weren't many recipes that I would have personally used, but for meat eaters and those not worried about sugar and less healthy ingredients, the recipes sound delicious. I did like that it talked about how to use leftovers to use up as much food and clear as much space as possible, plus gave examples. I did also like the tips for storage and necessities versus "luxuries". I wouldn't personally use this book, but to those more advanced or into special ingredients it could be fun.

Mahle provides a lot of useful information and practical tips for living with a tiny kitchen abs making the most of a small space. Tiny kitchens do not limit you if you pair Mahle’s advice with your own creativity.

Excellent, little cracker of a book! Lots to learn within the pages of this book that you can bring back to your teeny tiny creative cooking area! I had forgotten all about mis - en -place despite doing many courses as a youngster in my earlier years, rookie error! As we're small on space, I often find its easier to buy a lot of stuff already chopped and frozen just because I'm forgetful with veggies and everything goes off quickly, but this book nailed it with the prep and organisation - a little motivator - it definitely highlighted the issues of having hardly any space in the kitchen and for that I appreciated this cookbook that bit more.

Not only did this boost my positivity and love for this book, it also made me want to cook more, which is something I find tediously boring and rather than embracing cooking, I have shunned it! Well no more, although there wasn't any nutritional info on the recipes (which is me being rather fussy perhaps but I would have liked nonetheless) I still enjoyed this book, some of the ingredients can be a tad pricey but I substitued with things that I liked more than others in some recipes and sort of gave it my own twist.

Thank to netgalley, publishers and Annie Mahle for the chance to read this lovely book, in return for my review.

I received The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook as part of a NetGalley giveaway.

For anyone living in a tight space--be it an apartment, dorm, RV, or small home--small kitchens are a fact of life for many. The Tiny Kitchen Cookbook seeks to minimize the space and supplies needed to make delicious meals. Despite having a good-sized kitchen, I loved this. The recipes are right up my alley, healthy and simple, and the photography is really gorgeous. It seems particularly great for lighter summer meals, as many of the recipes emphasize bright flavors and colors, with a strong emphasis on vegetables. Looking forward to trying some of these this summer!

Practical book about how to make the best of cooking in confined space.
The author draws from her experience on cooking on board of a ship.
I love the way author has structured the book. Her use of easy language, bullet points and subchapters makes it a smooth reading.
While some of the ideas are matter of personal preference and might not apply to everyone, it is a good structured overview for cooking big in tiny space.

I absolutely love reading cookery books and this did not disappoint. Full of beautiful illustrations and tempting recipes it is a must for anyone who loves to experiment. If you have a small space then this should be your go to book but it has much wider appeal than that. It is definitely one for the cookbook shelf in my kitchen.

Huge thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for allowing me a sneak preview of this appetising and well thought out little gem.

A well rounded cookery book for a tiny kitchen, although not limited to tiny kitchens. I would recommend this book to people who are starting out at cooking, it guides you through recipes which won't make too much mess and will fill your dishwasher with room to spare or leave the drainage board with space for a few extra mugs. This would be an idea book to take with you on self catering holidays or if you travel and like to cook.

Good for those in a smaller kitchen and for those who want to try new recipes or continue more healthy options. Get pages where it teaches you some skills as well.

I've got quite a small kitchen, but probably not as small as the one in this book. However, I would like to know how to maximise my space and recipes in such an area, so thought this book would be a good start.

The book is divided into two sections: Setting up & Stragegies and Recipes.

Setting up gives you ideas on storage space, equipment, using meal plans and how to shop efficiently and transforming leftovers into simple dishes such as soup, omlette or pasta.

The Recipes are then divided into 6 chapters:
- Snacks & Appetizers
- Small Meals
- Salads & One Bowl Meals
- Dinner in a Bowl
- Stovetop One Pot Wonders
- Oven or Toaster Oven
- Dessert in a Mug & more

The recipes are written with imperial measurements with American terms for some of the ingredients. Whilst there is colour photography it is not for all of the recipes. The recipes are for two people, but as the author states they can easily be upscalled if you are catering for more people. Included are a mixture of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes with some cooked solely on the hob, others grilled or using the oven.

Overall it's an interesting book and I shall certainly find ways to maximise the space in my kitchen in the future. Recipes, there are one or two I might like to try.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

Comprehensive and adaptable for a variety of kitchen sizes and budgets. That said, the recipes aren't simple. They're fairly fancy food but they do contain more simple ingredients than most cookbooks with similar quality food. There are also tips and tricks on how to make the recipes cheaper (although that may be accidental) and how to limit leftovers. If you want to cook nice food for entertaining in a very small kitchen (tiny house, RV, boat etc) this is definitely the book for you.

I enjoyed this book on how to make the most of your small kitchen, how to shop and cook cleverly to reduce waste and save time by prepping ahead. I love the section on common leftovers and how to use them up and the recipes looked delicious! Definitely a few to try!

I love cookbooks. Calling this one a cookbook is not doing it justice. It is so much more. It’s really a master class on how to set up your kitchen with mindfulness and efficiency. To make your kitchen no matter the size, the heart of your home. From pots, pans and accessories to spices and staples for all level of cooks, particularly beginners or those starting anew. A list of how to create a full and purposeful pantry full of staples and wonderful recipes to use them, but also how to gain some confidence and have fun and creatively use what you’ve got on hand. I mean really, how many kitchen gadgets do we really need to only use once? This book not only tells us how to fill our kitchen and belly, but our soul. It is specific to tiny cooking spaces, but certainly is a great guide for anyone. If you’re going to have buy one cookbook for yourself or as a gift, this is the one. The photography is wonderful, the recipes simple and clear and overall a terrific addition to any kitchen.
