I was hoping for a fun, flirty read to allow me to escape my every day life, and that is what this book delivered, and so much more!.
I loved Regina's strong, incredibly fierce persona and the way she strived to be the best she could. Initially she comes across as rather cold and distant, but as the story progresses, you get to learn why she is so guarded with her emotions.
Then there is Mateo, who is utterly swoon-worthy! he is the complete opposite of Regina, with his warm, welc0ming personality, yet despite all of this - along with Regina being ten years his senior, sparks certainly fly between these pair.

The book is written in such a captivating way, I read it in one sitting as I just had to know what would become of Regina and Mateo. A delightful, steamy story that I thoroughly enjoyed!.

A very easy read or a rainy weekend. The characters were believable and the story pretty standard but, nevertheless, I enjoyed it.

In essence this is a standard rom com - and the doctor in question did night shifts on rotation not all the time so title is incorrect. The story twists were that she was older than him; he was once her student; and she was only in Miami for a sabbatical. Nice to read she was African American and that the potential issues of inter-racial relationships did NOT arise. Nicely written but at a semi-superficial level - you don't get to really learn or empathise with the characters or the setting.

What is more important, career or love?
Regina has taken some time off from her normal hospital to work at one in Miami in Florida for a short contract and whilst there she bumps into Mateo who she worked with when he was a student
I liked Regina, she is incredibly driven and wants to be Chief of Medicine at her normal hospital so has a plan on how to get there but she doesn’t count on Mateo making her feel things and he starts to break through her icy facade
Mateo was an easier character to like, he raised his adopted siblings after his parents died and he had to almost put some of his life and dreams on hold so he could do that. He doesn’t want anything long term in terms of relationships but things with Regina may make that a difficult pledge to stick to!
Both Regina and Mateo are dedicated doctors and this came across when I read about their interactions with their patients. They know what they are talking about and their bedside manner is really good. This book also looks at some of the more specialised hospital patients instead of being an emergency room and it was really good to follow some of the patients through from the start in their treatment and diagnosis without it feeling too overpowering
I think that this book would probably appeal to those who enjoy reading romances with a lot of drama and some really strong character personalities who will capture your heart and attention

Regina has always known what she wanted and has set out to achieve it putting work above all else but when she finds out that the man she is dating is married she leaves and becomes a temporary locum at a new hospital. It is here she runs into Matteo, a previous student who is 10 years younger, this doesn't bother Matteo but it does Regina. But over time she finds herself falling for him but can she risk her heart and put Matteo first rather than her career?

I enjoyed this book but thought the age gap was built up but then over with in mere sentences I also didn't get why someone as strong as Regina would run away from her first hospital when she was the one who was wronged.

Night Shifts with the MIAMI DOC is a M&B Medical romance written by Ann McIntosh. Dr Regina Montgomery has taken this temporary job at the Miami hospital so she can take time to reflect and refocus on her goal of becoming chief of medicine. Little did she know or anticipate that her former resident, Dr Mateo would also be employed there or that he would make clear that he wanted her. Both have issues, she has fought to rebuild her career whilst he is busy dealing with his family. Ca they work through these issues?
I found Regina to be quite a cold, remote character, unable to express her emotions or fully relate to other characters and engage the reader’s interest. I found it a shame that the 10year age gap was not developed into more of a sub storyline as this would have been an interesting angle that not many M&B romances use as a storyline.

I received this book via Netgalley and Mills and Boon in exchange for a honest review. I am a #MillsAndBoonInsider #netgalley #gifted

I really enjoyed this story!

I thought that it was a good storyline that was well developed and I found it to be an additive read.

There was great detail to make the story flow really well without it getting bogged down.

It was a romance that had me turning pages to find out what would happen and I really enjoyed that.

It was a great "will they, won't they" story and a great read all round.

It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!

This was quite an edgy book. The strong female lead needed some warming up to, however I definitely did as the plot developed. The book blew away cobwebs linked to the age gap in a relationship and portrayed the hard working lives of the two main characters in an honest and to date way, The backdrop of the hospital was great and the storylines linked to the patients and other staff members was a strong backdrop to the couple working their relationship out.

I received an ARC courtesy of Netgalley and Mills and Boon in return for an honest review.

I liked this story although Regina, the heroine was a bit of a cold, remote figure for most of the book. Matteo was delightful and I loved how his feelings for Regina were slowly revealed and how he fought for them both at the end.

The ten-year age gap was an interesting theme but I felt that it was never really addressed properly during the story. It was hard to know what age the characters were and the two of them never really discussed it, (other than him not wanting children so that bit wasn't a problem), which seemed a little unreal to me.

Having visited the Keys I was pleased to 'revisit' courtesy of the book.

This was an enjoyable read . 3 stars.
