I really wanted to like this book, but I just could not lose myself in the plot and in the end gave up. This is something I rarely do. It is well written and full of throw backs and imagination, but was just not for me. I hope to return to it one day in the future and find it has grown on me and I can finish it.

Sorry but this is one I couldn’t finish. I found it disjointed, rambling and overwhelming. I was looking forward to it as am the same age as the character and I did appreciate all the detail included about growing up and the toys, hit records etc at various ages. Just felt a bit like Enid Blyton on speed! Too much and not enjoyable for me. Maybe it improves after chapter 4 but I had a headache by then.

Put down at 20% I enjoyed the description in this book but I found the plot hard to follow. This may be down to the fact that it's not aimed at my age group

This is a really lovely book highlighting the importance of appreciating all we have and the importance of memories. How wonderful it was to see Alfie’s enjoyment of retrospectively visiting Disney World with his family and reliving life altering experiences such as Neill Armstrong’s first steps on the moon when he thought those memories were long gone and almost forgotten. This book teachers the reader to cherish all we have and all that we experience, to cherish our loved ones and those we hold dear, because they won’t be around forever.

The Toy Museum -The Boy Who Gave His Birthdays Back is a heart-warming yet sad and poignant look at what birthdays mean to people.
It's cleverly written so will appeal to both children and adults and is something they can read and discuss together.

This book is sweet and sad at the same time. Some people do not like celebrating their birthdays. In this book, Alfie wants to give away his birthdays.
