I really enjoyed listening to the audio of this book.

I liked the narrator and her clear, crisp English accent which is exactly how I would have imagined the main character to sound. I finished listening to the book in about 3 days. It was very easy to have on and listen on journeys and while I was doing jobs around the house?

The story centres around a woman named Alice, who has just moved into a house in Finsbury Park in London with her partner. It's an exclusive gated development and while Alice is trying to settle in and get to know the neighbours, a stranger turns up to her welcome drinks and she then finds out the last woman who lives there was murdered!

As she begins to ask her partner and neighours about what happened, the more answers lead to even more questions - until she's in so deep, she may never get out.

This was a slow burn for me. I was desperately trying to figure out who "The Therapist" was and confused about how it applied to the plot. But, as soon as the first big reveal (and that was pretty soon!) I was gripped and couldn't stop thinking about the story!

Another hit for B.A. Paris for sure! I will still read any book that she writes!

Brill book by B A Paris yet again. Always an author to pounce on when available.

A few characters involved in this plot so stay focused. Lots of neighbours who are couples and they all begin to become friends with the new couple Leo and Alice. But something has happened in that house. Eventually gossip and fact become mixed. Just who was Nina? Secrets are revealed along the way. Love it when there are titbits to change your thoughts on who dunnit.

You have to have this one in your tbr pile !!!

The Therapist revolves around Alice and Leo moving into a gated community in London called 'The Circle' to begin their new life together.
Secrets and mystery surround the community which Alice becomes obsessed with.
I listened to the audio version of this book which I found very engaging. It was very well narrated and the narrators, Olivia Dowds and Thomas Judd, added extra tension and intrigue to the story on my account. I felt that if I had read the e book it wouldn't have been as appealing to me and less hyped up.
It was a well written, easy to listen to psychological thriller.
It had a good mix of characters, each with their own stories and history.
I did make the connection probably halfway through the book but was still interested enough to finish listening to it however it did have a final twist in it.
I would recommend this to others that like a good psychological thriller and mystery. It had plenty of twists and turns and some creepy moments which I enjoyed.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Im so grateful for the audio arc of this boo, thank you so much!

I’m not going to lie, I found this to be pretty disappointing. I love BA Paris, I’ve read all of her books but this one fell a little short of my high expectations. I didn’t like any of the characters, they came across as super pretentious and if I hadnt seen a massive spoiler from a 1 star review then I think I wouldn’t have been too far from guessing the ending anyway

Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins Audio, HQ and BA Paris for my arc and audio arc of The Therapist.

Publishing 15th April 2021

I received both an E-Arc and an audio arc of this book so combined reading and listening in order to review.

The Therapist is a compulsive, unputdownable book that revolves around a small gated community in London called The Circle. Alice has been with partner Leo for a year now but due to living in different areas means they only get to see each other at weekends and somethings got to give if they want to make a commitment. So that's why Alice agrees to leave her beautiful cottage and move to London to live in the circle with Leo. It definitely helps that they manage to snatch up such a beautiful house at a bargain price.

But as Leo works away during the week and Alice tries desperately to make connections with her new neighbours she finds out a grisly secret about her new home and becomes obsessed with Nina the therapist who lived there before her. Everyone is keeping secrets and Alice is determined to find them out....

It's rare that I find audiobooks engaging enough to keep listening compulsively. Usually, I tend to snatch a few hours with one while doing chores or in the bath but I couldn't stop listening to this one. It's very cleverly written and it was nearly at the end before I started to make connections and work out the mystery. Alice's character was admittedly a bit annoying but aside from that I absolutely loved the book and would highly recommend it both as a written and an audiobook.

I had the audio 🎧 version I really like the striking cover which has a significance to the story.
Alice and Leo move into a prestigious gated community to demonstrate the commitment to their previous long distance relationship. As Alice talks to her neighbours she discovers that the house has a shocking secret which she then becomes obsessed with.
It is told in 2 time frames with 2 narrators, in the present is Alice, the past is the therapist.
I can’t understand when Alice thinks someone is entering the house why she doesn’t get the locks changed immediately! They have only just moved in so they have no idea who has keys to the property from the previous occupier.
It’s a slow burn, it’s more of a whodunnit for me as Alice gets involved with investigating the deaths of Nina and Oliver. It has some creepy elements.
Alice seems to lack good judgement getting swept along by Leo.
Leo demonstrates a lot of suspicious behaviour, he comes with more red flags than a semaphore signaller which Alice is very slow to recognise.
Everyone ends up falling under Alice’s suspicion once her radar is activated, Which makes Alice seem a bit neurotic.
Due to the unreliable element of the characters I didn’t really manage to gel with any of them.
It is a pleasant easy listen while I painted the garden fence, it helped distract me, but didn’t wow me.

I do love a good twisty-turny thriller, and this was exactly that. The tale of murder and deceit in a gated community. Brilliant!

Having previously read this book, I was intrigued to see how it would work as an audiobook.
I really enjoyed the twists and the whole plot the first time around and the narrator really portrays it well, adding that extra little bit of intrigue as you listen.

I have read this as an ebook and listened to the audiobook afterwards. I enjoyed the story very much and was intrigued with how the audiobook would be. Wow, there’s so much added just by someone reading the book, more tension, more intrigue. Even though I know the story I found myself captivated.

I love a creepy / psychological thriller, and I enjoyed that the protagonist had an inquisitive mind. I liked the writing style

The main character was at the forefront of the book so as I reader, I became familiar with her, but the rest of the characters were sideshows. For me there were too many characters with too little about them.

I won’t spoil the story but her love life annoyed me

I’m aware it is fictional but it was a little far fetched and had me picking holes in it at the end.

I did enjoy this as it felt an easy read, but didn’t feel the most memorable book I’ve ever read

Alice and Leo buy a house in an exclusive gated community in London, but unknown to Alice, a woman was murdered there - the Therapist of the title.

This was an absorbing, quick listen which held my attention throughout. I did guess who the killer was about half way through, but it didn't spoil my enjoyment. There are lots of twists and some genuinely creepy moments that made me shiver.

I enjoyed the narration by Olivia Dowd and Thomas Judd.

Dark Neighbourhood Noir...
The exclusive gated area of The Circle may not be all it’s cracked up to be in this dark neighbourhood noir. After all, appearances can be deceptive. New residents, Alice and Leo, are about to find out exactly that. A twisting, taut, engaging and well narrated listen.

On the strength of B A Paris’ previous novels I was very excited to get into this one! In its audiobook version, the novel was a treat to listen to.

The novel starts with Alice and partner Leo moving into ‘The Circle’, a gated urban community, to start their life together. This is a bittersweet move for Alice, as she, for the first time in her life, moves away from the rural life that she associates with the parents and sister she lost tragically years earlier.

To ingratiate themselves with the neighbours, they throw a housewarming party, but days later Alice is shocked to discover one of her guests was an imposter! On meeting this character again she discovers that her beautiful new home was in fact scene to a gruesome murder. Understandably disturbed and shaken by this revelation, Alice does some sleuthing, leading her to distrust and suspect all her neighbours and aquaintances in pursuit of the truth.

With more than a few cracking plot twists, this a book to be savoured! It works very well as an audiobook, the majority of the narrationbeing done through the narrative of Alice. I found the narrator to be excellent and held my attention throughout.

I dont hesitate to give this book 5 stars.

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this audiobook in exchange for an advance copy.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book, and overall. thought the narration was good. I have read, and enjoyed other books by this author and this was no different. It had a good mixture of characters to suspects, end of chapter cliffhangers, and mysterious back stories with a good dramatic ending to finish it off.

I could not stop listening to this audiobook! I was so upset that work was interfering with my story because I just had to know what happened!
A brilliantly narrated story by the equally brilliant B.A Paris. You never know what is coming next and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Imagine moving into a lovely new home just to find out after a couple of weeks a woman was killed in your lovely bedroom by her husband who then later committed suicide. But was he guilty and is someone creeping around your house while you are sleeping? *shivers!*
A must-read/listen.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK audio for the audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion.

Alice and Leo have moved into a new home in an exclusive community, and while Leo seems content, Alice is uneasy. Her new neighbors let it slip that their house was the scene of a murder, something Leo knew, but failed to disclose to Alice. Now, the house seems sinister, and and the only way Alice can cope is to try to uncover the truth about what really happened. Paris is back with her trademark shocks and surprises and Dowd is the perfect calm, well modulated counterpoint to this thriller
