High Heels in the Highlands by Liz Hurley is part of the Hiverton Sisters book series. It follows one sister,Clem, a fashion designer who loses her sketches and ideas to a faulty contract with her former lover and boss. She is on her way to Scotland to live in a castle inherited by her family. The castle is not in a fairy tale state, in fact it is falling apart. Clem is not exactly welcomed into the castle or village and she must sort through that as well. During her stay she finds a secret that could be traumatic for the family.

All in all, I was not a huge fan of this book. While I thought the cover was cute I did not realize it was a part of a series. High Heels in the Highlands does hold its own but I am just very particular with starting series from the beginning. The writing was not as smooth as I normally like and “whilst” was used quite often. I know that this story is said to be a rom-com but I’m not sure if this story is just that. There was not a lot of romance in the story or comedy and I struggled to stay engaged in the story. I did not like that the ending seemed rushed and everything came together so quickly. The setting might just have been the best part of the story.

Perhaps reading the other books in the serious would have helped me connect more with the characters but upon research it is said that High Heels in the Highlands can be a stand alone book and does not have to be read in order.

Half way through this I discovered it was part of a series. Whilst it can be read just fine it would have helped to have read the others. The silly and unbelievable art sub plot ruined it for me though.

I had a hard time with this book but overall enjoyed reading it. The multiple POV throughout the story made it challenging to follow and kept me from being fully immersed in the story. The romance part of the story fell flat. By the end of the book I was shocked that Clem and Rory ended up together, as Rory was hardly in the book. I felt that this one is more of a Chick Lit with a side of romance.

A fun feel good frolic in Scotland.I’ve enjoyed all the stories in this series about these sisters who have inherited titles and property. This is Clem’s story... Clem is a fashion designer in London who now finds herself in the middle of nowhere Scotland. She has been sent to Scotland to see if it is worth the money for the family to hold onto the property. While there she meets all kinds of colorful characters including Otto and Rory. I really loved the setting of Scotland and the town. The story was filled with loads of laugh out loud and feel good moments. My only teeny tiny complaint is there wasn’t quite as much romance as I would’ve liked. Looking forward to what these sisters get up to next.

The setting is delightful and the characters are well drawn and likeable.

The plot is steady, entertaining and pulls you in from the very beginning.

Overall, a fabulous feel-good read.

Could not put this book down. An enjoyable read that was funny and smart. Loved the characters, setting and liveliness of the book.

Omgosh this was brilliant again another book I didnt want to end. I want to read all about otto and Cammie more how cammie and rory get on if they live happily ever after. And if otto has fun with her new husband.
I loved the fact that the castle has been saved and that cammie got her fashion designs out in the public eye and that it all went brilliantly.
Cant wait to read it again and buy it so I can read it loads

I LOVED this book. Whilst not described as a part of the series (in the proof that I was given to read), it flows on from the prior two books by Liz Hurley. Clem was such a fun character, and the interplay between Clem and Otto really made the book spring to life. Looking forward to the next instalment!

I loved this book! My very first by Liz Hurley, but it won't be my last. I really intend to go back and pick up the rest of the story of the Hiverton sisters. With that said, I didn't find it necessary to have read the first books to understand what was happening in the story line. Clem, Otto, Rory, and the gang really made me want to plan a trip to Scotland ASAP.!!

High Heels in the Highlands by Liz Hurley is the third (well there was a prequel novella too) in the un-named series surrounding the Byrne sisters after the eldest, Ariana, had inherited and become Right Honourable Lady de Foix, Countess of Hiverton, now owning multiple properties including Ruacoddy Castle in Scotland where she was to determine if it was worth keeping or if it should be sold. Clem (entine) was available to do this because her mentor and lover had just booted her to the curb and appropriated all her designs as his own. She was a clothing designer and he was a thief. The problem was, he had a contract on his side. She, being dyslexic and in love, hadn't read it. She had just signed it. Now she was surrounded by sheep. She found the castle, with everyone asleep apparently, used her key to get in, and promptly fell asleep on the sofa in the drawing room.

I am not a laugher but High Heels in the Highlands made me laugh out loud several times. It is advertised as a romantic comedy and it more than fills the bill. Clem is her own person. She speaks her mind, but she is caring and considerate of others. It takes her a while to find her legs in Scotland, but find them she does. She is finally able to make friends with the elderly housekeeper and discovers exciting tidbits about her family as well as the surrounding area. She changes the ballroom into a design studio and forges ahead, ready to conquer the world once more. This is a fabulous series, so new and fresh and creative. It is a clean rom-com series with each one better than the last. I cannot recommend it enough if you need light, humorous reading with a romantic bent. Give it a chance. You will not regret it!

I struggled with this book. In fact I almost didn't even finish it. I had a hard time following the story. The writing felt very confusing. It jumped around a lot. One minute we were listening to one character and then mid thought we would be getting a different characters thoughts. The switch in perspectives was very random and confusing. I think the writing was meant to be whimsical but it just came of as erratic.

I also wasn't a fan of Clem. She was very selfish... maybe that's not the right word.. self involved maybe? Not sure but she was very focused on her own needs. She didn't care at all about how her actions would affect anyone else.

Really the only thing I truly enjoyed about this book was the setting. The author did a fantastic job of making it feel like I was in the highlands. I did really like that. But it wasn't enough to make up for the rest of the book.

I wanted to like this book so much. The cover is adorable and very eye catching but I really just didn't enjoy it.

This book did not work for me. It is marketed as a rom-com and there is little to no romance to be found.
The main plot line was interesting but was jumbled in with too many subplots that added really unnecessary drama.
The characters I liked at times but they all made weird decisions and seemed to act contrary to the character and I was left very I satisfied as a whole.

Clem (and her sisters) have just inherited a baronetcy and a massive castle in the Highlands. As HIGH HEELS IN THE HIGHLANDS begins, Clem arrives at the castle to take stock of the place, a welcome reprieve from her usual place in London's fashion world, where she's just lost her most recent collection and her boyfriend in a single swoop. Clem struggles to adjust to the Highland way of life--from arguing constantly with the castle's long-time caretaker, Otto, to alternately exchanging barbs and swoons with a local farmer, Rory. As she works to relaunch her fashion design career and save the castle she, slowly, develops a relationship with Otto and (even more slowly) Rory.

The setting and concept of this novel were fantastic! Scotland was beautifully rendered, and who doesn't love a sudden inheritance story. Unfortunately the multiple floating POVs throughout the story (indicative of trying to tell too many of the characters' stories simultaneously in the same space) kept it from being immersive and believable. It also prevented this reader from getting to know any of the characters intimately and connecting with them. It also was a bit light on the romance to fit in the category romance genre.

Clem's life was going to pot a bit her career had been ruined thanks to a spiteful designer, but her family had suddenly inherited money and a title. She offers to head up to Scotland to take a look at the castle they now own, and that's where the adventure begins, there's art forgery, romance and so much more all in a really great book. The only downside for me was that the last chapter just seem to end so quickly, it was all wrapped up in the end and it would of been nice to maybe know a little bit more, but I have just discovered this is part of a series so maybe that will cover more.

I enjoyed reading this, good characters and setting.. However this is not the best that Liz has delivered but that is possibly due to the awful year we have had. I still think you should read this and enjoy it. Sorry Liz. 4 stars.

💫I love the how she describes everything beautifully and has captured the beauty of Scotland so well.

💫The book is about the lives of the five Hiverton sisters whose life suddenly changes after they inherit an enormous fortune, as well as the titles of ‘Lady’.

💫The book mainly revolves around the life of fashion designer Clem, one of the Wiverton sisters.

💫The book takes us through the life of Clem as she embraces her new life in the Highlands, her feelings towards Rory and an unexpected friendship with Ottoline.

💥The book talks about love, friendship, family and the special bond of the Wiverton Sisters.
💥The book is funny, emotional and has so many touching moments.
💥It is so close to reality and yet very near to a fairy tale.

✨✨The book was like a romantic movie for me. Although I absolutely loved the book, still I wish I could live more of Rory and Clem through the book.

2.5 For me. It was cute in some ways but the romance fell flat for me. I enjoyed learning about the townspeople but I just wanted more romance and did not get it.

Clementine is a run before you think type of girl. Which is how she lands at the Scottish Castle her and her sisters inherited. There was not much of a romance story and while the book had good intentions I was lost and confused during most of the book. Most parts were not fleshed out enough to make since and the POV made it hard to keep up. I will check out other books of hers but this one was just not for me.

It’s been awhile since I read a romance that turned the volume up on story arc versus going with the normal brand of meet-cute, fight, kiss, the end. High Heels in the Highlands may seem like a pretty decent bet in this arena and it was legitimately what I was expecting. Instead what I got was a story of friendship and a boy-next-door that wouldn’t quit and gave me all the clever Jaime Fraser vibes. All of them.

Clem is fashion designer that finds herself setting up shop in a drafty Highlands castle after a strange family inheritance comes in. Her main goal is fixing up the castle but priorities changes as she starts to get to know the people of the town and castle. Ending with a slam-bang finish, Clem, Otto, and Rory will become the friends you wish you had. Such fun!
