I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook (with headphones, or alone in the car!)
The typical account of a young woman and her desperate search for a new job, unusually leads to her being sucked into a sexual relationship with a married couple and their friends. They dangled the offer of an exciting highly paid prestigious job, and sucked her into an intensely confusing scenario.

Her story was compelling even when she was at her lowest ebb, and most confused by the shifting sands of relationship rules. Slowly everyone’s backstories are revealed: the dramas and tragedies.

The sex scenes are explicitly described and are integral to the sex-centred relationships of the characters.

Thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review

I think I am probably from the wrong generation to really appreciate this book as I found nothing to relate to in any of the characters and could not warm to Violet, the main character. Although superficially it appears to be a light read it covers some important issues but I don't feel that the narrator conveyed the seriousness of these. I didn't feel that the narrator was right for the book and she needed more intonation and passion. I found the sex scenes annoying and felt that they disempowered Violet. There was some humour which I enjoyed but on the whole I found it to be a disappointing listen.

I’m not really sure how I feel about this book. It was a really light and funny read. The characters were well written with a lot of development.
However, I felt the sex scenes dominated a lot of the book and moved the focus away from the storyline and the heavier topics (sexual assaoult, mental health etc.), which could have been explored a lot more.
The narrator was great though and really brought the characters to life.

Insatiable - Daisy Buchanan

I have seen a view reviews of this book describing it as a light read, but it totally isn't...there are many possible triggers within the story including sexual assault, rape, eating disorders, and mental health. It is a steamy read with plenty of character development to enjoy or though I did find Violet quite annoying at times and felt like she needed a good shake! The narrator did an amazing job and definitely added to my enjoyment of the book (although I did think that Lottie's voice was a little too childish for her character). I wasn't overly pleased with the ending as to me it just felt like an easy way to tie the story together in a happier light, but overall I thought that it was a very sad tale which made me quite emotional at times and I devoured the audiobook in a day and a half!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Hachette UK Audio for allowing me the chance to listen to and give my honest opinions on this audiobook

Violet is a dissatisfied 26 year old who is struggling to make ends meet in a low paid job within the art world. She recently called off her wedding and subsequently lost her best friend. After meeting Lottie at a work party, she is offered a job at with her and her husband Simon, and is also offered a space within their private life.
I really couldn’t relate to anyone in this book and found the characters quite irritating at times. It’s possible aimed at younger readers than my 40+ years, and I’m sure some people will find it incredibly exciting.

This was an enjoyable and funny read at times however I feel it isn't anything new.
Violet came across as incredibly naïve and immature and I honestly wanted to shake her throughout. The themes that were touched on are ones the a lot of 20 somethings do struggle with however, at times it all felt a little bit flippant and forced.

The narrator I feel definitely added to the flow and increased my appreciation of the book.

I enjoyed it for a light hearted giggle but it didn't rock my world.

I get why people are loving this book, but I just think it wasn't really for me! I really enjoyed the first half of the story, although Violet isn't hugely likeable, I did find I wanted to keep listening to find out what would happen. Unfortunately the ending seemed rushed and seemed too 'tidy' to be believable.

This novel is doing nothing new. If you watched Fleabag or read any of these novels (My Year of Rest and Relaxation, Milk Fed, Pizza Girl, Luster, The New Me, Promising Young Women, Exciting Times) you have already read this type of story. The dynamic between an unremarkable twenty-something woman and an older more influential married couple is not uncharted territory (think Choi's My Education). Buchanan's main narrator doesn't hold a candle to the nameless narrator of My Year of Rest and Relaxation or the protagonist of Luster. The writing is not particularly funny, although it tries hard to be 'wry' and cutting. I would probably only recommend this to those who have not read many of the previously mentioned novels.

"Insatiable" is a wild ride of a book; well-written and well-paced, with intriguing characters that are brought to life through the audiobook.

I found this audiobook more entertaining than the book, perhaps because listening makes me more accepting of writerly clichés and I'm less picky about anomalies and holes in the plot? The only thing I'd say is that the voice for Lottie is far more little-girly that I'd have expected from the character - other than that, this is good switch-off reading.

In terms of the plot, Violet is another of those lost millenials (think 'The New Me' and similar) frustrated with her low-pay job, her charity-shop wardrobe and her grotty bedsit in a flatshare with strangers. She's friendless and has recently called off her marriage to a man she didn't love and is drifting aimlessly... until she gets seduced by an older couple and drawn into their sex-party group.

The much vaunted sex is pretty clinical and all those descriptions of mechanical body parts with no passion just became boring to the point that I started fast-forwarding through them. Will Violet keep up her orgy life-style now that she's found true love? If not, it feels a bit sensationalist rather than genuinely exploring alternative sex lives.

A fun read.
