I am so behind on my reading, especially when it comes to series I have begun. I read The Escape by Lisa Harris several years ago with my book club. I had all intentions of finishing off the next 2 books in that series as they were released. That was a big fat fail. LOL! So I was determined to try again. The romantic suspense featuring two US Marshalls was an easy read that could be picked up for an hour or so every day. While the novel does continue a thread begun in the first book, The Chase mainly focused on a bank robbery and subsequent fugitive hunt. It was generally entertaining with lots of action. However, I found some of the things the Marshalls did hard to believe. They get themselves in several sticky situations that would have been prevented with proper backup. I am not in law enforcement, but having read and watched numerous police novels and TV programs, I am kind of an expert. 😉 Seriously, I think going into a situation without adequate communication or without someone knowing what you were doing seemed farfetched. Will this keep me from reading the next book in the series? Nope, I am committed to the conclusion of the continuing thread begun in book 1 and explored in this book. I just have to know what’s going on and whodunit! I also am eager to get the two main characters into a romantic relationship!

The Chase was an okay read for me, but I like this author and the characters too much to give up now!

Audience: Adults.

(I purchased the audiobook from Audible. All opinions expressed are mine alone.)

Jonas has been away for a month on intensive training. His first day back he and Madison both end up on courthouse security. A notorious drug dealer is appearing in court and there have been threats against judges as well as rumors of an attempted rescue of the dealer. The violence at the courthouse goes wrong and most of the attackers are caught but the attackers fail in taking the judge prisoner while they do succeed in freeing the prisoner. When the judge’s wife is found dead in their home things become much more complicated as it appears his mistress, Becca, (the mother of his child) has killed his wife and disappeared with his son. But as they delve closer into the case it appears Becca may be innocent and the woman who has disappeared with the child is not who she appears to be. Complicating matters Madison finally remembers who shot her four months ago. Now the hunt for her husband’s killer is heating up again along with the search for the missing baby and the killer of the judge’s wife which may or may not be connected to the judge’s attempted abduction.
Again there are a few minor quibbles, a woman is held captive in an isolated cabin with no cell phone access, this is confirmed when she can’t get a signal on her burner phone, but when the cops and Marshals show up all are using their cell phones with no problems. Dad goes from the beginnings of Alzheimers with Madison’s sister assuring her there were medications to slow the progress to needing residential care in four months.
Overall this is a good, action packed trilogy with lots of action and, in this book, interesting plots within plots and a couple of unexpected solutions. Recommended

Adrenaline Junkies, here is your book! The Chase is book 2 in Lisa Harris' US Marshals series, and from nearly the first page it is non-stop action, with some tender friendship thrown in to make the characters more human.

On the day Madison James is finally cleared for duty, her partner Jonas Quinn gets the call that the search warrant he's been waiting on has come through on a bank robbery suspect. Jumping in with both feet, Madison is soon caught up in a chase that takes them through Seattle and up into the San Juan Islands. Can they catch the thieves before another person dies?

Harris weaves several story threads through each book of her US Marshals series, with the story of Madison's husband's murder overarching the whole. As Madison works her cases, she always has that case in the back of her mind. I'm looking forward to the final book in the series, The Catch, to see if all the threads get tied up.

Readers who enjoy romantic suspense - with a heavy emphasis on SUSPENSE - will love The Chase. I hadn't read the first book, The Escape, prior to reading this, but I will be going back to pick it up, too before finishing with The Catch. I absolutely recommend this.

Received a ARC for my honest review....
Loved the characters and the plot twists.... Now I am trying to figure out who the bad guy is.
Love the series.. Definitely worth the read.

Overall pretty good, full of action and suspense. There was one chapter near the end where a character from the first book is brought into the story as a major part of the story and I had no idea who she was or why she was important. Usually in a series the author gives a small backstory on previous characters but this was just thrown into the plot and I didn't care for it.

The Chase is the second book in the US Marshal series by Lisa Harris and I enjoyed this one even more than the first book! Since this book is about the same main characters from The Escape, I was already familiar with them and it was great to continue their journey.

I liked the suspense in The Chase…it was an intense story with twists that made the pages fly by. The ending was a good cliffhanger and makes me eager to read the final book as soon as I can.

All in all, The Chase was a great read and I recommend it to fans of romantic suspense.

The Chase continues the US Marshals series with partners Jonas and Madison on another case together. This time they are chasing down bank robbers. I am really enjoying this series. The pacing and action are well done. The secondary mystery thread, that continued from book one, is really good and I can’t wait to find out how that turns out. I am also enjoying the deepening relationship between Jonas and Madison.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is very light.

The Chase is the second book in the US Marshal series by Lisa Harris, and it is worth reading the first book before starting this one. US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are investigating a string of bank robberies, and Harris delivers another pulse-pounding case while alluding to the mysterious death of Madison's husband five years ago. Is the third book available yet?

This story had nonstop action where the robbery wasn't just about the money... It was that the robbers wanted to boast of outsmarting the best of law enforcement. They certainly lead them on one wild and dangerous chase! The characters and action made it a hard to put down book for me. I requested a copy through NetGalley, no review was required. My review and opinion is voluntary.

The second book from the US Marshals series, The Chase, was another great read by Lisa Harris. It was full of mystery and suspense. Four and a half stars.

The Chase by Lisa Harris is a book about US Marshals who are on the case to solve a complicated bank robbery. The agents on the case have recently had trauma and they struggle with their issues throughout. Ms Harris does an excellent job keeping the suspense going throughout the story. Readers that enjoy romantic suspense will love this book. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Phenomenal book! It is the second book in the US Marshals series by the author and it picks up where the previous book ended. And it certainly leaves you wanting more! I really enjoyed this book as the action does not stop as once again US marshals Madison and Jonas try to capture the bad guys, some bank robbers in this case. Taking place near Seattle, it is a clean suspenseful novel. The characters briefly mention wrestling with where God is when loved ones die, but overall the book is not preachy. There is also the cold case woven from the previous book and through this one of who killed the husband of Madison 5 years earlier. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait for the next one to come out. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This story picks up 3 months after Deputy US Marshall Maddison James was shot by a suspect that she and her partner Deputy US Marshall Jonas Quinn were transferring from one prison to another, when their helicopter crashed in the forest. While trying to hunt him down is when she was shot.

After 3 months of rehab Maddison James is ready to get back to work. She has followed her doctors orders and had time to emotionally heal along with the physical healing that had to be done. Throughout the 3 months her partner Jonas Quinn has been there with her, helping in as many ways as he can. They both have realized that they have crossed over the line of friendship into wanting more but they work together and neither wants to screw that up.
The case they are working on is a group of 4 who stake out, research, and then rob banks. Three people on the inside and one getaway driver. They are professional but Jonas believes they will make a mistake and Jonas & Maddison will be there to catch them.

This is a great story that you can enjoy on its own or when you read the series. Thank you Lisa for allowing me to participate as an early reader.

This was a story that kept the reader and the characters on their toes. Appropriately titled the Chase, US Marshals Madison and her partner Jonas Quinn are chasing some very crazy bank robbers who only seem to care about the adrenaline their bank robberies give them. Now with this latest one there have been causalities. And whether they meant to hurt someone or not, they did and it is up to this US Marshal team to bring them in, hopefully without anyone else getting hurt.

There is a thread of romance between Madison and Jonas that runs through the series. Madison is dealing with the fact that she was shot three months ago and no memory of who. And her husband was also killed years ago. I don't know if all is connected or if Madison will ever remember what happened. Hopefully the third book will answer all the questions and tie up all the loose ends.

I enjoyed the constant action in this story. I couldn't believe how pridefully foolish the bank robbers were nor their disdain for the law or human life. Sadly it just seemed to be a game to them, until it wasn't.

I received a copy of this novel from Revell Publishers through Interviews and Reviews. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

This was book 2 of Lisa Harris ‘US Marshals’ series. What a wild ride Jonas and Madison went through! After the events of the the last book, Madison and Jonas chase after a group of serial robbers and later fugitives after a bank robbery gone bad. At the end of book 1, Madison was shot at her home by an unknown and put on medical leave for a few months. We also see the relationship between Madison and Jonas grow. They are both great characters. We also get an update on Madison’s late husband murder case. There were some twists and turns throughout this book. I was surprised at the ending. Wasn’t expecting but I like how unpredictable it was. I can’t wait see what’s next for these two and the next adventure!

Marshall Maddison James is a U.S Marshall who was shot three months ago. She may not be sure of who shot her, but she’s certain of one thing, it’s time for her to get back in the field. When her partner, Jonas Quinn, receives a message that a federal warrant just came in on a man connected to a string of bank robberies, Madison jumps at the chance to get back to work. What she and Jonas find is a bank robbery in progress that's gone wrong and things are about to get worse.

For the bank robbers they are trying to catch, it is never just about the money, It's about taking risks and adrenaline rushes, and getting caught is not part of the game. When the suspects escape, Madison and Jonas must hunt them down and bring them to justice before someone else someone close to them gets hurt or worse.

This book will take you from Seattle to the San Juan Islands on a nonstop chase where feelings are complicated and failure isn't an option.

If you’re looking for an action packed read, I highly recommend The Chase!

Five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

So this is a new to me author and lets just say I was not disappointed in the least. This book kept me on the edge of my seat, now I will say you know early on who done it so the title speaks for itself, it was all about the chase and the twist and turns in the story. I really liked Madison she has a good head on her shoulders and tackles what liv throws at her with as much strength and grace as possible. I also liked Jonas but I did feel like he had a lot of unresolved issues that he wanted and needed to work through. I will say while the author solved on thing she leaves you wondering about another and leaves you wanting more and wanting to know what is going to happen next. Overall this book was a clean read and well worth the read I truly had a hard time putting it down.

This book is a great sequel to The Escape! I can't wait to read the last book in the trilogy. I loved the push and pull between the marshalls and the bad guys, and I love following the case as it unravels. This book is a page-turner! I love how Mrs. Harris intertwines the cold case murder of Madison's husband through-out this book and the last, leading the reader to what's coming in book three. The romance between Madison and Jonas is building with authenticity and a realistic pace, considering everything they've been through. I'm so glad the author didn't rush these characters. It feels so much more believable this way. The Chase will keep you on your toes and on the edge of your seat, as these crooks become more desperate with each chapter. If you enjoy high-stakes fiction with pulse-pounding predicaments and puzzling mysteries to solve, I highly recommend The Chase!

Madison  and Jonas Quinn are both US Marshall's that have been tasked to work together again.  This time they are trying to find the people responsible for a string of bank robberies that have been happening all over Seattle.  Both Madison and Quinn must deal with their past issues that are pushed front and center during this case.  Madison must be able to be alert and confident in the field after having been shot.  Quinn must learn that he cannot always control the outcome and protect everyone.  The must both look inside themselves and learn to trust God's plan for their lives and learn to trust their own feelings.

Harris is one of my favorite Christian Suspense authors. She doesn't disappoint with this book. It is a riveting story of intrigue and suspense filled with great characters, plot twists, and heart pounding action.  She writes such vivid descriptions that you are pulled into the story and feel like you are right there witnessing the action.   This book and series is filled with page turning non-stop action.  I love the depth of and insight into the characters Harris writes.  She has a way of getting in their heads, being able to show their emotions that makes you feel as you are getting to know the characters personally. Madison is strong and resilient but she has been through so much in that past few years. She doesn't trust moving forward. Quinn is a rock for Madison to lean on. He is patient and compassionate. I definitely recommend this book and anything Harris writes.

I received a review copy of this book from the author. I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I did not enjoy this book. It was really hard for me to get into it, as it felt like the author was not well versed in law practices. Also, the main characters did not seem like adults. I had a very hard time believing that the main characters' relationship was so deep when they had only been working together a very short time.

So many statements made about them just didn't ring true, and I found myself skimming through the book just to get to the end, but I couldn't even finish it. I normally love this genre, and I have read many other books that I have enjoyed, but this one just fell flat for me.
