Returning home to her small Cornish village after forging a career as a midwife in London makes Ella feel as though she has taken a large step backwards.

She is welcomed back with open arms by her Mum, Dad and new colleagues at the Midwifery Unit. But there is one face she wasn’t sure would still be there, her first love Dan. When the two meet the memories of the time they spent together return and maybe now is the perfect time to rekindle the old flame.

I really enjoyed this lovely one sitting read.

I’m all for feel good and easy-read at the moment and that’s what Jo Bartlett brings her readers as she introduces us to the residents of the Cornish village of Port Agnes.

“In a rural midwifery unit, with our patients spread across such a wide geographical area, there’s never a dull moment.”

I have to admit I was far more invested in the love life of local chippy owner and all round good-egg Brae than I was in the romance between Ella and Dan which lacked the spark and pull I want from a couple, but this is a series that definitely could have potential and Jo Bartlett has done enough to make me want to return to Port Agnes and see what lies in store for some of the characters we met.

A lovely, light hearted, easy read. Ella returns to her childhood home town after her life in London falls apart. Once there she reconnects with her childhood sweetheart. The story is predictable but sometimes you want predictable! The author has definitely left this open to become a series and I look forward to the next book. The characters are likable and you find yourself becoming invested in them.

I really enjoyed this book.

A wedding that never happened, but was front page news leads to Ella returning to her home town and a meet up after 10 years with her first love. She loves being a midwife and would love a happy ending for herself. A wonderful story set in a gorgeous setting

A pleasant read. I probally would have liked more birth bits. Ella was a lovely daughter, determined to make her parents proud. Her father was a real character. I loved how her relationship with Dan went. The book was set in a lovely part of the world , Cornwall. The beginning of the book was great and I won't spoil it but it got you hooked
